Chapter 16: Pokémon Party Crashers

Yukio departed off the Magnet Train after it arrived in Goldenrod City. He had been to Johto before but this was his first time there in more then a decade. He looked around at the ultra modern buildings that stood in a line on the other side of the street from the train station. Then he looked at his Pokétch and saw that the local time was 17:20. The sun had begun to set behind clouds that were half white and half pink. It seemed that tomorrow was going to be a beautiful day.

Yukio put a round brown hat above his thinning brownish-gray hair and then walked to the lobby of the train station. A huge crowd was gathered around the largest flat screen TV that hung on the northern wall. On the screen was a Miltank that was using Rollout attack and then slammed into a Larvitar that was glowing with a blue and orange aura. Yukio looked at the screen and thought the Larvitar looked familiar.

“Come on Larvitar stay strong and keep up the Outrage attack,” called out Katsuro’s voice through the TV’s speakers. Yukio gasped as he saw a very determined Larvitar grunt as it picked itself off the ground and then charged straight at a spinning Miltaink. Yukio watched in awe as Larvitar jumped up and then slammed into Miltank, stopping the Rollout attack and knocked it backwards and sending Miltank sliding on its back. Whitney could be seen in the left corner of the screen jumping up and down twice.

“No way,” exclaimed Whitney. Then Miltank got up on its two feet but it was visibly tired and breathing heavily. Larvitar then stopped glowing with the orange aura and it began wobbling back and forth. Outrage had now confused it. The camera then zoomed out enough to show Larvitar on the left side of the screen and then Katsuro on the far right side. Yukio gazed up at his son.

“Wow, that’s my boy. He’s grown up so fast. Wish I could see him more then a few times a year,” Yukio said to himself. The crowd in front of him began to cheer. Some for Miltank and Whitney, but not as many were cheering for Larvitar and Katsuro.

“Larvitar, I know you can do it,” Katsuro cried out, his voice altered by the static from the broadcast. “It’s time for Dark Pulse!” Larvitar’s horn began to glow with a black aura.

“Oh Hall of Origin! Larvitar finally began learning new attacks,” Yukio cried out. A few trainers standing near him looked at him with sour expressions. Then Larvitar fired a beam of dark blades towards Miltank. Whitney seemed totally calmed as she pointed at Larvitar and called out her next attack.

“Body slam!” Miltank jumped up and the Dark Pulse attack had just barely missed it. Miltank then tilts forward while in mid air as Larvitar continues to wobble back and forth. Miltank then lands with its udders squishing Larvitars head and its upper body on Larvitars chest and legs. Larvitar cried out in pain then fainted. The female judge watching the gym battle then raised a red flag and declared Larvitar unable to battle.
“Whitney’s Miltank has gotten strong since the Team Rocket takeover huh,” said one trainer.

“I knew that Larvitar would lose,” said another.

“Hey, Larvitar’s cute! So is that boy who’s controlling it,” cried out a Lass trainer.

Yukio gritted his teeth. He didn’t want the first thing to see in his return trip to Johto to be his son losing a Gym Battle. He watched Katsuro recall Larvitar into its pokeball and then pull out another one. Katsuro was getting ready to throw it when suddenly a flash of light came from his belt. Another one of his pokeballs had suddenly released a Pokémon.

“What the heck, Eevee?!” Even with his face appearing small on the TV screen, it was easy to see that Katsuro was shocked that Eevee had suddenly appeared and he didn’t intend on using Eevee in the Gym Battle. The judge already waved both the green and red flags, indicating that Katsuro was stuck ending the battle with Eevee as his last Pokémon. Yukio wondered what the big deal was, as Eevee was just standing there and began biting down on a pebble it found on the battle field.

“Miltank, time for another Body Slam!” Miltank began running towards Katsuro’s Eevee. Eevee seemed more preoccupied with chewing on the pebble then the big bovine heading towards it.

“Eevee, look alive and use Bite!”
“Vee?” Eevee looked up and saw a mass of white and pink falling towards it. With amazing agility Eevee ran away and Miltank missed. Then Eevee ran back with its mouth opened and saliva dripping from its mouth. Eevee then bit Miltank on the tail.
“Miiiiiiiiillllllllll!” Miltank began shaking its tail but Eevee kept its teeth clamped down. Yukio chuckled as Eevee stayed latched there with its left eye twitching and more saliva leaking from the corner of its mouth.

“Use Rollout!”

“Not so fast, Eevee use Secret Power!” Eevee let go of Miltank and then stood on the ground. Then its body began glowing dark brown. Eevee then cried out and the aura shot out like a beam hitting Miltank. Miltank cried out in pain as it became enveloped in the brown aura. Miltank then leaned forward and fainted. Whitney then shuddered.

“M-milkie…” she said with her voice breaking.

“Yes, you did it Eevee,” cried out Katsuro excitedly. Eevee then began to run around in a circle on the battle field. Katsuro chuckled nervously before reaching for Eevee’s pokeball and recalling it. Whitney tried her best not to cry over seeing her Miltank defeated. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and then reached for an item on a pedestal near her.

“Well second’s time the charm I guess. Here you go Katsuro. Good job to your and your Pokémon,” she said as she handed him the Plain Badge. Katsuro took it with pride. Yukio smiled from ear to ear after seeing his son’s victory on the TV. The crowd was murmuring in front of him. Yukio took his leave and then brought out the notepad in the front pocket of the vest he was wearing. He looked at the address and then looked around the city. Goldenrod certainly had quite an upgrade from the last time he was in the city a decade ago. He had a feeling it would take a while before he found his ex-wife’s house.

That night Katsuro was still stoked over his victory over Whitney. All four of his Pokémon were outside with him in his bedroom of his mom’s house. Shane was there too, with only his Sableye out. “I can’t believe we did it. Larvitar and Eevee rocked it. Xatu, sorry I didn’t use you as planned but you probably saw that coming,” said Katsuro. Just Larvitar joyfully responded. Eevee was sitting quietly. It seemed Eevee would act rabid during or after a battle.

“Still, you should’ve seen your face when Eevee popped out like that. It was way beyond priceless,” commented Shane. His Sableye also began chuckling.

“Ha ha, well tomorrow I got two reasons to celebrate; my birthday and my third badge. At this rate I’ll have eight gym badges in no time.” Katsuro held the Plain badge up toward the ceiling light in his bedroom.

“Take it easy Katsuro. I still have two more Gym badges then you,” taunted Shane as he showed off his Storm and Mineral badges.

“That’s cuz you went to those towns first from Hoenn, and from what I hear Chuck is easy to beat if he can’t use his favorite move Focus Punch.” There was a knock on Katsuro’s door.

“Katsuro honey, someone’s at the door for you,” said his mother. Katsuro got up on his feet and slid the Plain Badge on his night stand next to his empty pokeballs.

“OK mom, thanks,” he said as headed out the door with Shane and their Pokémon following them. Katsuro went through the kitchen then toward the entrance hallway and opened the front door. A man was standing there with a brown vest and round hat on, wearing beige cargo pants, and a large backpack. “Dad!”

“Hi son, how are- oof,” was all Yukio said before Katsuro excitedly jumped onto his dad and wrapped his arms around him. “Hey Katsuro take it easy. It was cute when you were six through eight years old. These days you may just knock me over and cause me to get amnesia.” Katsuro jumped down onto the front porch. Shane just stayed inside the house with their Pokémon watching from the hallway.

“I can’t help it dad. I miss you soooooooooo much that not even a Dialga or Celebi would help,” Katsuro cheerfully replied. After that Yukio looked inside the house and noticed Katsuro’s blonde spiky haired friend and the group of Pokémon near him.

“I see you’ve been traveling and made some new friends.” Suddenly Larvitar ran up and greeted Yukio. “Well hello Larvitar. My, my you look like you’ve leveled up quite a bit since the last time I saw you.” Yukio petted Larvitar on its cold hard skin and Larvitar smiled back at Yukio.
“Lar-Larvitar-tar.”

“Dad this is Shane. He and I met near the Ruins of Alph and we’ve been traveling together since,” said Katsuro as he signaled Shane to step outside.

“Nice to meet you,” said Shane. His Sableye followed him out. “Sableye here is the last Pokémon I caught in Hoenn before I came to Johto.” Sableye looked up at Yukio who just glanced at darkness Pokémon.

“Fascinating little guy you got there. I’ve been to Hoenn before but this is the first time I’ve seen a Sableye up close before.”
“Sableye? Eye-sableye.” Sableye crept closer toward Shane and then tugged on his shorts.

“Don’t be shy Sableye,” said Shane. Just then Yukio reached into his back pack.

“Here son, since you’re traveling in Johto you could make better use of this then I can,” said Yukio and then he pulled out a Rainbow Wing. Shane and Katsuro gasped as they saw it glow in the seven colors of the rainbow in the porch light. Katsuro had seen one before while staying at the Tin Tower but this time it seemed to shine to majestically that he thought it outshined the stars.

“Wow, it’s as if part of Ho-oh is becoming a part of me,” said Katsuro as he accepted the Rainbow Wing and held it up toward the night sky. Sableye, Larvitar, and Sneasel also stared at it in amazement.

“Sneasel?” Sneasel’s ears began twitching. It heard something. There was an intruder in the area! Before Sneasel could cry out to get its trainer’s attention it happened! A shadowy figure swooped down toward Katsuro and snatched the Rainbow Wing right out of his hand! Katsuro felt a rush of cold wind right by his face as the figure rushed by him, taking the Rainbow Wing with it.

Once Katsuro realized that the Rainbow Wing was gone he turned in the direction he felt the wind blow. The figure wasn’t behind him, it was now above him. It was dark so it was difficult to see what creature had taken his Rainbow Wing. Sableye, with its Keen Eye ability could see very well in the dark. It could see the mysterious Pokémon flapping its winds and holding the precious Rainbow Wing in its talons. Shane immediately sensed what his Pokémon was thinking.

“Sableye, bring it down with Gravity,” commanded Shane. Sableye’s body began glowing with a dark purple aura and then it swung its arms outward and the aura spread outward, surrounding the premises. A black Pokémon came crashing down. Katsuro recognized what kind of Pokémon it was instantly. It was a Murkrow and it kept the Rainbow Wing clutched in its talons. Murkrow lifted its head up with its eyes glowing purple.

“It’s about to use Night Shade. Out of the way everyone,” yelled Yukio. However, Shane was ready to counter it.

“Lairon, come on out and use Protect!” After throwing his Pokeball Lairon appeared on the front porch and then created a barrier. Murkrow fired rings of darkness from its eyes but they were simply nullified by Lairon’s protect. After Murkrow stopped attacking Lairon lowered the barrier. Lairon looked at Murkrow with an agitated expression. Murkrow simply cawed out in anger.

Katsuro ran up to Murkrow and reached for the Rainbow Wing. Just before he grabbed it thorny vines came down from above him and restrained him. Katsuro cried out in pain as a few thorns on his right forearm cut his skin. Then a shiny Roserade jumped down with the vines coming from its left bouquet arm.

“A Roserade, and attacking a human directly,” said Yukio.

“Ow, it’s no ordinary Roserade, and if you’re here Dark Sero then that means…”

“Wow so you do have a brain Katsuro. I’m impressed,” said Alexandra as she cut him off. Then she revealed herself by jumping down from the house’s roof and into the porch light. Her long curly hair flowed upward and then gently rested against her back as she stood up from her landing. “I’ll take that Rainbow Wing if you don’t mind kiddo.”

“How dare you young lady! That’s my son’s gift from me you’re taking,” shouted Yukio. Alexandra took the Rainbow Wing from Murkrow and held it up.

“Finder’s keepers,” Alexandra taunted.

“I don’t get it. What do you want with those Rainbow Wings,” asked Shane.

“That’s for me to know and for you dimwitted boys to never find out,” she answered. “Dark Sero, use Energy Ball now.” Dark Sero released Katsuro from its thorny grip and then charged the ball of green energy in its other bouquet. Then it fired it at Lairon. Lairon couldn’t move fast enough to dodge and took the direct hit. It was a one hit KO for Lairon.

“Oh shoot. Lairon return and Sableye use Shadow Ball.” Shane’s Sableye charged the Shadow Ball attack between its two claws and then shot it at Dark Sero. Alexandra’s Murkrow jumped up from Gravity’s grip and absorbed the not very effective attack. Dark Sero jumped up while charging another Energy Ball attack. That’s when Yukio stepped in.

“Enough of this! Aerodactyl use Fly attack now,” shouted Yukio as he threw his pokeball into the air. Out of the pokeball’s flash of bright light an Aerodactly flew straight up and cried out ferociously. Once it gained enough altitude it swooped down while tucking in its wings and diving toward Dark Sero. Dark Sero looked up and saw Aerodactyl cry out, its saw blade shaped teeth sparkled in the dim lights coming from building windows.

“R-r-rose…” shuttered Dark Sero. It became frightened of the sight of the Fossil Pokémon. Aerodactyl opened its wings and crashed into Dark Sero in midair. Dark Sero cried out in pain and was sent flying back towards Alexandra. Alexandra tried to side step out of the way but Dark Sero was flying backwards too quickly. It knocked her down and caused her to release the Rainbow Wing. Murkrow saw the wing glowing with a yellow-red aura float in the air and began to fly after it.

“Sneasel go,” shouted Katsuro. Sneasel skillfully jumped up onto Aerodactyl’s back. Aerodactyl flew in closer toward so Sneasel could jump down and grab the Rainbow Wing before Murkrow. The Rainbow Wing hung in the air, Murkrow coming from the ground after it and Sneasel jumping down from above. Both Pokémon determined to grab the precious wing. Murkrow was bout to grab it with it’s beak but suddenly another Pokémon joined the fray.

“VEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” Eevee rushed out of the house leaving a trail of foam behind it. Running at unbelievable speed, Eevee jumped up with more foam dripping from the right corner of its mouth and then bit down on Murkrow’s tail feathers. Murkrow cried out with tears of pain appearing in its eyes.

“What in Arceus’s name,” exclaimed Alexandra. Sneasel snatched the Rainbow Wing with Aerodactly hovering above it. Sneasel was clutched in Aerodactyl’s talon it carried back to Katsuro’s side. Murkrow came crashing down with Eevee still clamped down on its tail and snarling as it kept hold of its grip. Alexandra immediately saw that the elements of surprise got the best of her and decided it was time to retreat.

“Listen boys, you got lucky because daddy was here to save you! Also…” Alexandra looked back at Eevee who had resorted to now chewing on one of Murkrow’s tail feathers that it yanked out of Murkrow’s rear end, much to Murkrow’s dismay. “… you’re pest’s disease seems to work to your advantage. Next time we meet, I’ll be ready!” Alexandra pulled out a pokeball and recalled her Murkrow.

“Oh come on, just leave us alone, unless you plan on hanging out with us,” said Shane as he winked at her. Alexandra just scoffed.

“Alexandra…” called out a man’s voice. No one could see him but there was a silhouette of a tall man with long wavy hair standing on the rooftop of the nearby Goldenrod Bike Shop. “We are wasting time. Get your revenge on the young men later. Ho-oh won’t wait for us.” Shane, Katsuro, and Yukio all gasped.

“So that’s why you wanted the Rainbow Wing,” said Katsuro.

“Yes Sensei, I’m coming,” Said Alexandra. Then she threw down a smoke ball. Purple smoke erupted out of no where. Shane, Katsuro, and Yukio began coughing while the smoke plume surrounded them. After a minute the smoke cleared. Alexandra and her Sensei disappeared without a trace.

“Just what the heck does she want with Ho-oh, and who is her sensei,” wondered Katsuro.

“Hm, he seemed familiar,” said Yukio.

“Huh, what do you mean dad?”

“Katsuro, it’s almost late. What’s going on out there? You and your dad can practice battle later,” called out his mom. Katsuro sighed and decided now was a good time to recall his Pokémon. Shane and Yukio also recalled Sableye and Aerodactly.

“I’ll explain tomorrow son. For now, the Rainbow Wing is one of your birthday gifts from me, so please keep it safe. I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night Katsuro,” said Yukio. Katsuro hugged his father before bidding him farewell for the night. Yukio walked back to his hotel. He thought about the shady man he had just saw and he said about Ho-oh. His thoughts about the shady man led to his memories of the faithful night when Katsuro was born. He knew Katsuro’s mother Serenity hadn’t told their son the full story of what happened and the connection between him and the Shiny Legendary beasts. Maybe it was time his son knew the truth.

Chapter 17: The Door to the Past

The Following day Katsuro spent the first half of the day with just him and his dad. He planned on letting his mom do a birthday party for him in the evening. Yukio and Katsuro went to watch a movie at the Goldenrod Movie Theater and saw “Pokémon in Love” starring a Wigglytuff and Psyduck. Katsuro thought of it as a romantic comedy, especially with Psyduck portraying itself as a dimwit. After the movie the two of them had lunch and then shared stories of their separate journeys.

“Next thing you know dad, I see Raikou on top of the roof of a nearby building. After Shane and I saw Team Rocket’s Pokémon fried I knew it was Raikou who was looking out for us when we saved it before,” said Katsuro. After telling his story to his father he sipped on his Pecha Berry shake.

“Fascinating, and how amazing that Raikou remembers you after all these years,” said Yukio. Since they were out in the town he was wearing a tourists t-shirt that read “I <3 Veilstone” on the front. Sinnoh was the last region Yukio had visited before returning to Goldenrod. Yukio even left his hat behind, which Katsuro saw as an opportunity to make fun of his father with a couple bald jokes.

“What do you mean ‘after all these years?’ I don’t remember ever seeing Raikou before coming to Johto.” Katsuro was visibly puzzled. However he quickly put two and two together and guessed what his father was about to tell him. “Raikou and I met before and I can’t remember, is that right dad?”

“Yes son.” Yukio suddenly seemed more serious. “Listen to me carefully. Legendary Pokémon are very precious. They are more powerful then any weapon man has created. Surely if someone was to capture them and use them for misdeeds terrible things could happen. You and Raikou have met before, but this isn’t the time and place for me to explain when that happened.”

Katsuro became a bit disappointed and at the same time confused. He wondered why his father was acting so secretive all of a sudden. “Would mom tell me?”

“No son. If she hasn’t told you before then surely she wouldn’t want to relive what happened that night. Your mother was very traumatized by our first encounter with Raikou and the other legendary Pokémon.” Katsuro then gasped.

“You mean Suicune and Entei? They were there too?”

“Son, that Rainbow Wing I gave you. You can use it not only to feel the connection between the Legendary Pokémon but to also invoke the power of the Unown. Take it to the Ruins of Alph and they’ll show you something radical.” After that the discussion of the past was over and they continued to move on with their day. Yukio planned on taking Katsuro to the Pokeathlon Dome but since he was due back at his mother’s house in two hours there wouldn’t be enough time, even if they used Aerodactyl’s Fly to arrive there.

When Katsuro arrived home he didn’t quite feel like eating cake, but he decided to celebrate anyway. Once he got back to his mother’s house the oven was beeping and Serenity was in the process of placing an oven glove on her right hand. “Hi mom,” said Katsuro as he walked by. Serenity opened the oven and reached in with her gloved hand.

“Hello sweetheart. Did you have fun with your dad,” she asked casually as she pulled the home made cake out of the oven and then walked it over to the kitchen counter.

“Yeah, we saw a movie, shared stories, and then dad gave me a few TM’s. Not sure which ones I’ll use though,” he said. He watched his mother grab a spatula for spreading white frosting for the cake. “Dad is going to see me on my way out of Goldenrod tomorrow morning for when I head over to Olivine City.”

“That’s nice. Dinner will be ready in two hours. Shane walked out to do some training on Route 35. He’ll be back for the party though,” explained Serenity. Then she focused all her attention of the birthday cake. Katsuro walked upstairs and saw his step father Nick on his cell phone in his bedroom. He decided to pretend he didn’t see the busy man and walked toward his room. Inside his room he immediately spotted his Larvitar and Sneasel playing around. Larvitar had a party had on its head, and it was too big for it.

“Snea-sneasel sel Sneasel sel Sneasel snea Sneasel (You look like a human with a lampshade on their head),” cried out Sneasel in a teasing manner as it began laughing. The party hat covered Larvitar’s entire head.

“Laaaaar-vitar (whatever),” Larvitar’s voice echoed inside the party hat. Katsuro half smiled as his pokemon had fun when Eevee suddenly decided to bite Sneasel on its tail. Sneasel yelped and flicked Eevee away with its claws.

“Alright that’s enough everyone,” said Katsuro as he walked in. Then he reached into his bag and pulled out the Rainbow Wing from the Key Items Pocket, the main section in the middle of the bag. “Tomorrow we’re all going on a field trip. Get ready guys.” The three Pokémon in his room all cried out excitedly. Katsuro began to wonder where Xatu was. It didn’t take long to find out as he saw it perched on the bed post behind him. Xatu, as usual, just stood there and kept staring.

Two hours later the house was filled with several more people, but they were all Serenity’s friends and Katsuro barely knew any of them. He recognized a couple that he and his mom had met while at the Sevii Island’s Trainer Tower. The friendly conversation he had with them was short lived. Shane and Katsuro basically stuck together. The both of them felt out of place especially since neither of them had many friends in the Johto Region. It was the first time since Katsuro first arrived in Goldenrod City that he had felt this way.

Finally it was time for cake. The presents would come after Katsuro blew out his birthday candles. Serenity placed the cake on the table in front of Katsuro. Larvitar jumped up onto the table with wearing a party hat, now cut down to properly fit Larviatar’s head, and cried out cheerfully. Serenity and Nick each took a match and took turns lighting the twelve candles on the cake. Katsuro never thought about what to wish for the entire day. He forced himself to close out all the noise of the celebration in his mind and concentrate.

There’s so much I want to do, Katsuro thought to himself. What to wish for? To win the Johto League? To capture that Raikou? Hm… there’s gotta be something. I know I don’t want to be an average trainer that those hot headed Ace Trainers I’ve met before in Sevault Canyon. I want to be better then all the other trainers out there not by winning countless battles. Hm… I got it! I wish for the ability to befriend any Legendary Pokémon.

Katsuro blew out his birthday candles. With just one blow he managed to only blow out ten of the candles. Larvitar quickly reacted and blew out one while Katsuro quickly extinguished the last candle with a short puff of air. The crowd of ten people clapped for Katsuro. The cake was sliced and served to everyone, even the Pokémon. The cake was chocolate, with Wiki Berries mixed in the batter. Everyone enjoyed the cake, but Eevee quickly chomped at it and ate it savagely. When it was done frosting covered its whole face and half of its ears.

Meanwhile that night Alexandra and her Sensei walked in the Underground Tunnel of Goldenrod City. It was late and only very few shops were currently opened. They were talking about their grand plan to call forth Ho-oh and possibly capture it.

“With three Rainbow Wings the shiny Beasts will be attracted to us like Combees to a Pomeg Berry flower. However, I can’t see why you failed to obtained that Rainbow from the boy,” said the shady man with long wavy red hair. The topaz and ruby spheres that hung from his earrings glowed from the light given off from the light bulbs hanging in the ceiling.

“I let my guard down,” scowled Alexandra.

“You still continue to repeat that mistake?”

“His daddy was there to shield him Sensei. How was I to expect that old Ruin Maniac had an Aerodactyl? Dark Sero was no match for a Flying Type,” said Alexandra. She was clearly in a bad mood.

“Stop making excuses,” the red haired man snapped. Alexandra stopped walking by his side and looked down. She had encountered Katsuro often enough to know that her Pokémon are at a much higher level then his. So what was it that made her fail her missions every time she encountered him?

“Sensei, I can get that Rainbow Wing easily. I just have to strike at the right moment,” was all she could say after the awkward silence. A light bulb near them began flickering on and off. It seemed that maintenance was uncommon in Goldenrod’s underground as it was above ground.

“Maybe, we should just leave the boy alone for now. I happen to know Suicune’s weakness and if we work together we can capture it with little to no interference,” said the red hair man. Suddenly Alexandra seemed excited.

“What are we going to do Sensei?”

“I just have one word for you my child; pollution.”

The next morning Katsuro and Shane were at the gate house connecting Goldenrod City and Route 35. They were waiting for Yukio to show up for one last goodbye before father and son would head their separate ways. After nearly twenty minutes of waiting Yukio showed up Flying on his Aerodactyl. “You boys each have a Pokémon you can Fly on, right,” he yelled from up above.

Moments later Shane and Katsuro were Flying on Flygon’s back while Yukio rode on his Aeroedactyl. They were all headed to the Ruins of Alph. They all had to yell in order to hear each other over the roar of the blowing wind as Flygon and Aerodactyl flew at high speed. “So dad, what is it that you want me to see at the ruins?! What’s the point of all this,” Katsuro asked while raising his voice.

“I really don’t have much time to explain Katsuro! Just trust me on this. I already know of the power of the Unown and I believe you’ll learn a lot more about the past and about the mysterious powers of Pokémon if you see it first hand,” explained Yukio. The flight lasted nearly half an hour but they arrived at the Ruins of Alph main entrance. It led to the chamber. Once there Shane recalled Flygon into one of his pokeballs.

“OK, we’re here. Now what,” Katsuro wanted to know.

“Your Xatu has Synchonize Ability right? Xatu’s are also capable of gazing into the past. I want you to enter the chamber here with your Xatu and then you’ll have to figure out what to do from there. I have a Magnet Train ride to catch to the Kanto Region so I’ll have to talk to you boys later,” said Yukio. Aerodactyl roared. Despite the flight it had just been on it seemed like it had energy to spare.

“Ok dad. I’ll go in there, but just one question,” said Katsuro. Yukio then looked at his son. Suddenly Katsuro ran up and hugged him. “When will I get to see you again?” Suddenly sadness washed up on Yukio. He too also wished he and Katsuro had more time to spend together. Ever since splitting up with Serenity he spent more time investigating ruins then with people, let alone the only family he’s ever had.

“Soon Katsuro, I promise. I’ll drop a line off at your mom’s house when I’m in the area. Just take care of yourself until then,” said Katsuro as he embrace his son. “Say hello to Raikou for me next time you see it, and Shane, make sure the two of you watch each other’s back.” Shane nodded.

“It was an honor to meet you,” said Shane. Katsuro then let go of his father. Yukio climbed onto Aerodactyl’s back. Aerodactyl cried out a couple times and then took off into the sky. Within a minute they were out of sight. Katsuro looked down at the ground for a moment then focused on the task ahead. He took out the transparent pokeball holding his Xatu and looked down at the miniaturized pokemon inside. It was now time to learn what the past had to show him.

“Xatu, let’s go,” said Katsuro as he threw the pokeball into the air. It opened and a bright flash of light released it. Xatu just stood there in front of its trainer. “Let’s go inside and check it out,” instructed Katsuro. He and Shane began walking into the camber and Xatu followed. Once inside they found a ladder that led down deeper into a cave. Shane climbed down first and then Katsuro followed. Xatu flapped its wings and hovered down. Once inside they could see writing on the walls, but they weren’t in English. The letters all appeared to have eyeballs.

“Wow, these things are way beyond odd. I feel like I’m being watched,” said Shane, his voice echoing though out the camber.

“That makes two of us,” said Katsuro as he walked up to the wall. He remembered his dad circling a section of Unown in a photograph. He knew how to read them. He saw some Unown spell out places like Sevii, Hoenn, Unova, and Orre. Then Katsuro and Xatu came to a section of the wall in a dark corner. Katsuro looked at the Unown on the wall.

:unknown-s:unknown-i:unknown-n:unknown-j:unknown-o:unknown-h

“Sinjoh, what kind of place is that,” Katsuro asked. Suddenly Katsuro felt a power coming from his bag. He slipped it off his right shoulder and reached into the Key Item Pocket. The Rainbow wing was glowing with a faint gold aura. Katsuro stared at it in awe. He felt an odd power surround him, as if he was being uplifted and taken somewhere. “This is so cool, but also weird at the same time.” Then Katsuro felt a rush of cold air. Since he was wearing his blue t-shirt with the Pokeathlon logo on the front he shivered instantly.

“Wow, that’s odd. Do you feel a cold draft in here Shane,” asked Katsuro as he turned around. But Shane was nowhere to be seen. “Shane! …ane …ane …ane” Katsuro’s voice echoed. The room he was now in was much darker then the Ruins of Alph. He was standing on an odd black platform with three circles in each corner of the triangle. A statue of Arceus of on the top left wall and a statue of Ho-oh was on the top right. Katsuro was certain he didn’t see those when he came in.

Katsuro then saw an opening to the outside. That is where all the cold air was coming from. His Xatu was still by his side and the Rainbow Wing in his hand was still glowing. Unown could still be seen on the walls of the crumbling building. Katsuro immediately ran outside and was shocked at what he saw. Snow, and it towered everywhere. The walls of snow were at least nine feet high and a single path was carved out in front of him leading down the mountain. More snowflakes were being blown in and adding to the frozen fortress surrounding him.

“Shane, are you there?! …are you there …are you there… there…” the echoing just made Katsuro feel uneasy. He turned to his Pokémon as he started shivering. “Xatu… where are we?”

Chapter 18: Greed and Pureness

“Xatu, hey Xatu! Trainer to Xatu, come in Xatu. Xatu, answer me,” Katsuro screamed at his Pokémon. Xatu was staring at seemingly nothing with a faint white aura forming a veil over its eyes. No matter how hard Katsuro tried Xatu never responded and stayed within the room they somehow teleported to. After trying to get a response out of Xatu for a few minutes Katsuro began shivering. The snow was piled up and with it trapping the cold air all around him. It was like staying inside a walk in freezer in a grocery store.

Katsuro sighed and walked back into the temple and sat on the edge of the giant triangular platform. He brought out his pokegear to check his location on the map card. The screen flickered on from the standby mode. Then it showed the icon of a boy with a question mark next to it. Katsuro knew this icon meant two things. “Just great, either we’re not in Johto anymore or this stupid temple in the middle of nowhere can’t let my pokegear connect to a satellite,” he grumbled to himself. Xatu was still standing near the only entrance of the temple. The Unown on the walls seemed to be watching him, even though they were mere carvings on the walls.

Then Katsuro heard something. He closed his eyes so it would help him concentrate on what he was hearing. Voices! Surely he could hear in the distance at least two male voices speaking to one another. So this area wasn’t abandoned after all. Katsuro jumped off the triangular platform and ran outside to take a look. The wind was still blowing and the snowflakes hitting his bare forearm were an unpleasant reminder of where he was at, but at least he knew now he was about to get help. There, on the path ahead of him were two men coming this way. One of them was clearly a monk, presumably for this temple. The other man wore a beige vest, brown cargo pants, and an explorer’s hat. Katsuro thought he looked like a Ruin Maniac much like his father.

Katsuro stepped outside to the blowing snowstorm that seemed to become more intense. His bangs were now dancing in the wind in front of his eyes. “Excuse me, can you two tell me where I am,” Katsuro shouted. The two men were still talking amongst themselves, seemingly ignoring Katsuro. “HEEEEEEEEEEEY! I need help. I though you monks assist trainers who are lost!” Despite the two men walking closer and closer to the temple they acted as though they didn’t hear him. However they were now walking close enough so that Katsuro could hear them.

“I appreciate you letting us stay. My wife and I have been yearning to relax for some time now. We’ve been on this hike for a couple days now,” said the Ruin Maniac. Now they were right in front of Katsuro. This was his chance for him to get their attention for sure. He walked so that he was in the center of the entrance to the temple. The two men were looking down to avoid snow being blown into their faces.

“Hey, you two! Can you help a young trainer out,” Katsuro shouted. The two men gave no response. Katsuro was becoming quite annoyed at the situation. “Hey, I just want -” said Katsuro as he reached out to grab the monk’s robe, but his hand passed straight through it. Katsuro gasped as the aspirations of the monk and the ruin maniac walked passed him. The monk’s body simply phased right through his own. Katsuro’s heart rate jumped up at what had just happened. “Oh crud, what in the Distortion World is going on here?”

Katsuro followed the two men as they stepped onto the triangular platform. He caught a glimpse of the Ruin Maniac’s face. It looked like his father’s! Katsuro just began to wonder what he was seeing. “This is the Mystri Stage. Legend has it that after this temple was built, Arceus descended and showed its amazing power by giving life to Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina on this very stage,” explained the monk.

Katsuro walked up to the two men on the Mystri Stage. The Ruin Maniac got down on his knees and pulled out a magnifying glass and flashlight from his tool belt. He crawled his way to the lower right corner where a purple circle with bizarre lines within it laid. “How fascinating. I am from Sinnoh myself, but I never knew about this temple until recently. I am amazed that people from both of our regions have built this place thousands of years ago,” said the Ruin Maniac. Katsuro caught a glimpse of the Ruin Maniacs face. He had a stong resemblance to Yukio, his father.

“Hey, can you hear me,” asked Katsuro as he reached out to grab the Ruin Maniac’s hat. It was no use as his hand passed right through it. Katsuro shivered as the Ruin Maniac rose back up onto his feet with his arm passing through his hand. He began to feel like a ghost as the two men continued to ignore him.

“Yukio,” called out a woman’s voice. Katsuro gasped as he looked toward the entrance and recognized the voice. It was mother Serenity leaning on a Machoke’s shoulder. Something seemed different about her though. Katsuro noticed that her hair was longer and it feel down to her chest. Her belly also seemed big, as if she’d gained weight. Unlike the last time he saw his mother, her face seemed more youthful without any wrinkles. She also called the Ruin Maniac by his father’s name! Now Katsuro knew somehow the Rainbow Wing triggered a vision, most likely a vision of the past.

Katsuro ran to the image of Serenity. She smiled pleasantly while still relying on the Machoke’s support. “Mom, it’s me Katsuro,” he began but it was no use as he ran right through her and the image of her seemed to have heard or seen nothing. He turned around and saw the younger version of his father briefly kiss his mom and then he knew she was smiling at Yukio, not him. Although Katsuro was initially disappointed to see that he was truly alone in the temple, he was glad to see his parents get along for once.

“How are you and our baby poffin lips,” asked Yukio. Katsuro remembered that before his parents divorced his father nicknamed his mother Poffin Lips. At first he was beginning to wish his parents were still together, but he realized what his father said. Our baby, that mean he surely was seeing a vision from the past. That also explained why he couldn’t physically touch any of the people here. Then he wondered, was it Xatu causing the vision, or something else? The Unown carved into the walls still seem to be watching him as he gazed around the room.

“Are you certain we should be out here when I’m so close to the due date,” asked Serenity. Katsuro watched the two of them talk and noticed the worry in his mother’s face.

“Honey, our baby isn’t due for another week, I’m sure we will make it back to the Indigo Plateau in time. You just relax in the cabin while I take a few notes about this place,” said Yukio as he stroked Serenity’s shiny blonde hair. Then he turned his attention to Machoke. “Machoke, please guide my wife down this path to the cabin, and be gentle with her and our unborn child.” Machoke saluted Yukio and then it began to guide Serenity down the only available path on the mountain. Katsuro decided to follow them. Before leaving he checked on his Xatu. The white veil was still covering its eyes. Katsuro figured he could always come back for it since there was only one path on the mountain.

He cautiously walked down the steep narrow dirt path as the illusions of Machoke and Serenity made their way to the cabin. With the walls of snow towering above him he wondered how a cabin would manage to be found out here. After a minute of walked downhill the path split into four different directions. Serenity and Machoke veered off to the path that was to the furthest left. Katsuro was about to follow her when something else caught his eye. On the path going forward from the temple someone was approaching and heading up the mountain.

The new person was wearing a thick robe, presumably to protect him from the snow and freezing mountain conditions. Katsuro was beginning to wish he could find a robe like his. Only one hand was visible and on the ring finger was a ring with a sapphire gem on it. Katsuro sensed something familiar about this person. He began wondering when he had seen him, or her, before. The person walked right through Katsuro and continued walking up the mountain and kept the robe clutched tight with the only visible hand. Katsuro then felt like he needed to head back to the temple. He could always figure out what his parents were doing here later.

Once Katsuro returned to the temple Yukio was shaking hands with the monk. Then the monk turned and noticed the robed figure approaching. As soon as the robed figure was standing outside the Temple’s entrance he removed it and let it fall to the cold hard ground. Katsuro gasped and recognized the younger version of the red headed man he’d seen before. He remembered riding his bike and crashing into a camera-like device. That man was obbessed with Raikou. Now he was here at the temple.

“Hm, he seemed familiar,” Yukio’s voice echoed inside Katsuro’s head. This same man was there when Alexandra attacked him and his father at his Mother’s house in Goldenrod City. Now the puzzle pieces were beginning to come together in Katsuro’s mind. Yukio wanted Katsuro to see that his father and this mysterious man had met before, and sometime prior to his birth too.

“So if dad and that weird Raikou hunting guy met before, where do the legendary Pokémon come in,” wondered Katsuro out loud. Then the monk approached him and Katsuro freaked out as the monk stood exactly were Katsuro was standing. It was odd for him to be standing inside another person’s body.

“Who are you,” was all the monk said. Katsuro stepped outside of the illusion of the monk’s body and took a closer look. It was the strange man he met before alright with long wavy red hair that feel to his shoulders. He wore two earrings, one with a ruby sphere and the other with a topaz sphere handing from them, and unlike the version of this man he met before he didn’t have any burn scars on his face or either of his hands.

“My name is Allister,” he responded. Allister, Katsuro decided to remember the name and in case he’d encounter him once again. However, he also began to think how he would return to Johto and leave the odd temple.

“Allister, what brings you to the Sinjoh Ruins,” asked the monk. Allister reached toward his belt and pulled out three pokeballs.

“My beloved partners and I are weary from travel. I am on a journey, a soul searching journey to be precise, and we are all exhausted. Might it trouble you and your fellow keepers of this sacred site if I asked for hospitality for one night,” pleaded Allister. The monk seemed to be deep in thought. Yukio also seemed to be detecting something about Allister. Katsuro noticed his dad’s “I know you’re up to something” look in his eyes.

“Very well, one night. That is all,” said the monk. Allister placed the three pokeballs back to his belt. He then bowed in respect to the monk. Somehow Katsuro knew the monk had made a mistake. He wished he could’ve said something but he also knew it was no use. It was all just a vision from the past. Then suddenly the images of the three men had disappeared. Katsuro gasped and was surprised to see them fade away so quickly. Without even thinking about what he was doing he ran back into the temple. Xatu was still there but the white aura and veil over its eyes had disappeared.

“Xatu, let’s go back. Teleport,” shouted Katsuro. Xatu looked up and then waved both of its wings.
“Xa-Xatu! Xa-xa-xa-xa-xtu,” it cried out. Katsuro became puzzled. Suddenly a black figure flew by him. Katsuro looked up and saw several black figures flying around him.

“Holy smokes,” exclaimed Katsuro when he realized what was flying above him. The Unown on the walls seemed to be peeling off and floating into the room. They were floating everywhere and began forming a rotating sphere. More and more Unown continued to peel themselves off the walls and into the sphere. Then a ball of light began to form in the center of the Unown sphere. Then there was a bright flash. Katsuro had to cover his eyes from the intense flash.

Once Katsuro was able to see clearly again the temple was on fire. Katsuro panicked and then saw Xatu near him. He then quickly remembered that this was all a vision generated by the Unown. Katsuro wondered why he was seeing this until he spotted Allister releasing three Pokémon. The roaring flames leapt in front of him so he couldn’t see exactly what Allister was up to.

“I’m sorry my partners, but soon you’ll all be reborn and we shall be an invincible team once again,” he said as he began walking outside. Then the three Pokémon he had just abandoned began crying out in pain. Katsuro saw a quadrupedal Pokémon collapse in the flames. Katsuro watched in horror as the Pokémon lost their lives in the flames. Then suddenly Allister returned with a monk. “No, my life long partners!”

“What a liar,” Katsuro said in disgust. Then he watched as the monk raced over to a corner and then retrieved the Clear Bell. Another monk brought came in with Yukio and to Katsuro’s surprise, his mother who was clearly in labor. “Oh no! Please don’t tell me mom’s giving birth here and now.” Katsuro looked away but couldn’t help overhear what his parents were saying.

“Yukio, not in here. I’m terrified,” whined Serenity. Katsuro gulped, he really wondered if it was necessary to see his own birth. Then suddenly another source of light appeared. The Rainbow Wing and Clear Bell were glowing in the praying monk’s hands! Then Katsuro looked up and saw the statues of Ho-oh and Arceus built into the walls. They were both glowing, but the Arceus statue was glowing even brighter. It was truly an astonishing sight.

Katsuro looked down and saw the corpses of the dead Pokémon rose back up. The one closest to Katsuro grew taller, two long fangs sprouted from its mouth, and round cloud seemed to form on its back, and the tail grew out in a zig zag pattern. Raikou suddenly appeared with its orange coloration! It was the same Raikou Katsuro had seen before from the Magnet Train and again when Alexandra lured it and tried to capture it. So, his parents had met the Legendary Beasts before!

“No… freaking… way,” gasped Katsuro. Then he heard his mother screamed at the top of her lungs. Then he could hear a baby crying. “Raikou and I… share the same birthday?” Katsuro suddenly began to understand why he and Raikou had such a strong bond. It was formed the day he was born.

“Finally,” shouted Allister. “They are here and they are mine. Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. A human will finally capture legendary Pokémon.”

“What?! All this time you came here to obtain the Legendary Beasts? They are not meant to be captured by trainers driven by greed! Only a trainer of pureness can command them,” said the monk holding the Clear Bell and Rainbow Wing.

“What do you care? I sacrificed my Pokémon so these three could be summoned, and now they will rejoin me,” Shouted Allister. Then suddenly Katsuro saw Entei become surrounded in bright orange flames and charge at Allister. Allister was carried away on Entei’s head and torso. He was yelling in pain was Entei ran out of the temple and expelling him far away from the Sinjoh Ruins. Serenity screamed out of fear from what had just happened.

“I NEVER WANTED TO COME TO THIS TEMPLE IN THE FIRST PLACE! WHAT ABOUT OUR BABY,” she screamed. Yukio was now holding baby Katsuro when Raikou suddenly ran up to him and Serenity. It seemed Raikou understood what was happening. Katsuro watched a weakened Serenity climbed on board with the help of an Ariados’ Psychic attack and then Yukio sat behind her while clinching the baby. The monk gave them a robe to use as a blanket for him. Finally, Ariados used String Shot to secure Raikou’s passengers. Once they were ready Raikou leapt out of the temple and down the mountain.

“Wow, my dad knows about Raikou. That’s cool,” Katsuro said to himself. Then suddenly the vision of the flaming temple faded and everything was back to normal. Katsuro and Xatu were once again alone in the temple. “Xatu, can you Teleport us back home?” Xatu just stood there and did nothing. Suddenly the Unown began glowing along with the Rainbow Wing in Katsuro’s backpack. He reached for it and stated at it for a moment. An odd sensation flowed around him.

“Katsuro, where have you been,” exclaimed Shane. Just as instantly as Shane had disappeared he was standing there again, although now he seemed a bit sweaty. Katsuro really didn’t know what to say although it was incredibly obvious he was now back at the Ruins of Alph and not at the Sinjoh Temple. At first he was unsure how to explain what he had just experienced.

“I could ask you the same thing,” Katsuro answered.

Chapter 19: Allister’s Pride

Later that evening after Katsuro’s trip to the Sinjoh Ruins he and Shane were now on their way to Ecruteak City. The two of them planned on spending the night there and then together head to Mahogany Town so they could each try to earn the Glacier Badge. However, collecting Gym Badges were far from Katsuro’s mind after everything he had experienced that day, and it was easy to see his concern from the way he walked slower then usual and mumbled to himself from time to time.

“Katsuro, would you calm down. The Legendary Beasts are fine. You already saved Raikou and we both saw Suicune a few weeks ago. I think you got way too much on your mind,” said Shane. The two of them walked passed several apricorn trees with red, blue, and black apricorns hanging from their branches.

“I can’t help it Shane. That guy Allister, what the heck does he want with the Legendary Beasts and why are he and Alexandra after the same thing? I just can’t stop thinking about it and I doubt he wants them to collect the eight gym badges of Johto,” explained Katsuro. Shane stopped walking forward and then patted Katsuro on the shoulder.

“If we find them we’ll stop them no problem. The two of us have become stronger trainers since we started traveling together and you have the wisdom of your dad and those monks from the Tin Tower,” Shane said in a reassuring way. Then Katsuro gasped when he got an idea.

“The Tin Tower! Let’s go there right away! I wonder if Monk Daichi can give us more information on Allister and the Shiny Beasts. Let’s go,” said Katsuro enthusiastically right before dashing off up the hill. Shane had to pick up his pace to catch up with him. An hour later, Katsuro and Shane reached their destination. It was now sunset and many traditional oil based lanterns were being lit with flames. The Bell Chime Trail was, as always, covered with fallen leaves that crunched beneath the boys’ shoes. The Tin Tower casted a long shadow that covered most of the trail due to the sun set.

Katsuro walked up the steps to the Tower’s front door. He didn’t bother knocking and just pulled on the door handle. It didn’t budge. He thought for sure the Tower was opened to any trainer who has already gained access to it. Then he tried pounding on the door. “Monk Daichi, Monk Sadao, Monk Michi, is anyone there,” Katsuro shouted as he kept on pounding on the door.

“Katsuro, I think it’s locked for a very good reason,” suggested Shane. Katsuro then stopped pounding on the door and turned to Shane.

“Or it could be the monks are meditating and don’t want to be disturbed. Hey, think Flygon can carry us up a couple floors,” asked Katsuro. Shane seemed puzzled at first but quickly decided to go with Katsuro’s plan. A few minutes later they were both riding on Flygon’s back and circled around the second floor of the Tower. The sky above them was growing darker and the first star of the night could now be seen. Katsuro checked every window on the second floor of the tower but there were no signs of any humans. All Katsuro saw was a couple Rattata running around and picking up crumbs left behind by the monks’ meals.

“Katsuro, we should head to the Pokemon Center,” said Shane. Katsuro sighed and shook his head.

“I want to know more about Allister. I wish the Unown showed me more while I was at the Sinjoh Ruins,” he replied.

“Then why not Teleport back there?” Flygon began to descend to the ground.

“Have you ever been there? It’s so freezing! I’d go back if the snow could be an illusion as well.” The two boys jumped off of Flygon but then heard someone approaching by the sound of dried leaves crunching. Katsuro looked outward and saw a monk with a wooden bead necklace walking toward the Tin Tower.

“Greetings Monk Sadao,” said Katsuro as he bowed to him.

“Ah, Katsuro what impeccable timing. I was just thinking of you,” replied Sadao. “We have received word that some is abusing the powers of the Rainbow Wing.”

“We know. We saw Alexandra us it to call Raikou before,” said Shane.

“Boys, please listen to me. The Rainbow Wings can act like magnets to the Legendary Bests. The more Rainbow Wings one holds the greater the chance of encountering the Beasts and possibly Ho-oh,” explained Sadao.

“Monk Sadao, please can you tell us more about a man named Allister,” pleaded Katsuro. Sadao’s eyes widened.

“Allister? How do you know of this man,” Sadao asked.

“I had a vision through the Unown. Allister is partially responsible for the creation of the Shiny Beasts. Also Allister is still trying to capture them after all these years. He and my father have met before in the Sinjoh Ruins before I was born,” explained Katsuro. Sadao took in all this info and then closed his eyes. He was deep in though for a couple minutes.

“Come on Monk Sadao. This is taking way to long to make a decision,” whined Shane.

“Patience is a virtue,” Sadao replied. Then he continued to concentrate. After another couple of minutes he walked up to Katsuro and Shane and held out an item pouch. “Listen to me, if anything should happen come back to the Tin Tower, but this time take this pouch with you to the very top of the tower.”

Katsuro took the pouch. It was colored charcoal gray with black laces around the top to tie it shut. “Why not head to the top of the Tin Tower now,” asked Katsuro.

“Listen to me first Katsuro. Allister is a very ruthless man. Twenty years ago he was a pupil of Monk Daichi. He studied under Daichi’s guidance well and showed high respect and praise for Ho-oh. However if was all a guise. Four years after learning the ways of a tower monk Allister began acting odd…”

The Tin Tower: sixteen years ago

Allister made his way to the top of the Tin Tower. It had been a very long climb with all the ladders and wooden platforms scattered across the tower’s walls. He brought with him in a bag the Clear Bell. Everything was now in place. From the top the tower the view was awe inspiring. The wind kept on blowing making his long wavy hair reach out past his face and into the air. Allister then took hold of the Clear Bell and held it in his hand.

“Beloved Ho-oh, please descent from the sky. Stop searching the world for a trainer that can connect hearts with Pokémon and see what it is like to fight along side a human. Please Ho-oh, reveal yourself to me and let us all see what power you have to share with the People and Pokémon of this time,” prayed Allister to the Clear Bell. Suddenly the wind speed picked up and Alilster’s hair began flailing around his head. The Clear Bell began to glow.

“Ah, yes at long last, for the first time in centuries, Ho-oh -”

“Has been angered,” shouted a monk’s voice. Allister turned around and it seemed like someone had joined him on the Tin Tower’s roof. This monk was walking while holding a wooden staff at his side. It was Monk Daichi. “I am forever disappointed in you Allister. You showed great promise but now I can see your true intentions. Capturing Ho-oh?! The idea is sickening,” said monk Daichi.

“You are a foolish old man. Ever wondered why Ho-oh never returned to the Tin Tower? I don’t blame Ho-oh for never returning. You monks just rebuilt the tower to pretend the Burned Tower incident never happened. Yet the evidence is still there. It’s a painful scar in Ho-oh’s heart but I believe if Ho-oh came to become one with a human instead of roosting at a tower and watching humans it can be harmonious again,” replied Allister.

“Your ideals are fascinating but misguided. Allister, stop calling out to Ho-oh and return the Clear Bell to me. You are unworthy of Ho-oh’s presence and now I find that you are no longer worthy of my teachings.” Daichi used his wooden staff to help him climb up the tower’s roof and closer to Allister.

“No Daichi, I decide my own destiny. Haunter, come out and show our former instructor he’s the misguided one,” said Allister as he held out a pokeball and it opened in his hand. Haunter emerged from the burst of light and began floating toward Daichi.

“Noctowl, now! Punish them,” ordered Daichi. From out of nowhere a Noctowl with its head crest glowing flew in with amazing speed. Then streaks of light from Noctowl’s head crest surrounded its body as it crashed into Haunter. It has just used a Sky Attack and Allister’s Haunter fell down in one shot. Noctowl then flew in a loop and landed on top of Daichi’s wooden staff. Allister had no choice but to recall Haunter and surrender the Clear Bell.

Later that evening Allister was in the presence of all the Monks keeping guard of the Tin Tower. There were five monks all together including Daichi and Sadao. Daichi being the eldest of the five monks walked forward. “It has been decided. You are banished not just from this Tower, but also from Ecruteak City and the Bell Tower in Violet City. Leave at once and don’t ever return,” said Daichi. Allister couldn’t hide the anger in his eyes.

“I vow, you will all regret banishing me! I will track down the Legendary Beasts and tame them all. Then I will prove that the monks’ methods of preserving these towers are not the way to bringing Ho-oh back. It’s through capturing other Pokémon and showing Ho-oh that it too needs to battle along side humans,” Allister vowed with a tone of hatred in his voice.

“Enough of your foolish words,” shouted Sadao.

“Someday we will all see who the foolish ones really are,” said Allister and he walked out of the Tin Tower and was later escorted by Officer Jenny outside of Ecruteak City. All the monks except Sadao left the Tin Tower that day.

“I’ll never forget how angry Allister was that day and somewhere in my heart I knew that wouldn’t be the last I’d see or hear of him. It seems Allister still wants to fulfill that vow he made sixteen years ago,” Sadao explained. Katsuro and Shane were now sitting down on the steps to the Tin Tower’s entrance while listening to Monk Sadao’s story.

“Yup, I knew it. Allister’s a mad man, but that still doesn’t explain what the cute girl Alexandra has to do with all of this,” said Shane. Katsuro stared at him with his eyes narrowly opened.

“You’re hopeless Shane. If you want a girlfriend go back to Hoenn. Anyway, Monk Sadao, if Allister really is trying to capture Raikou, Entei, and Suicune then what should we do about it,” asked Katsuro.

“Katsuro, since you are the boy who was born on the same day as the Legendary Beasts you have the best chance of protecting them. You must track Allister down and stop him by all means. You and your friend. As for that dreaded Rainbow Thief Alexandra she maybe working for Allister. He has probably figured out that Ho-oh senses the greed in his heart and won’t come to him directly. However I cannot supply you all the reasons he maybe using Alexandra. Both of them have a doomed fate if they misuse the Rainbow Wings and the Legendary Beasts,” Monk Sadao said in a fearful tone of voice.
Katsuro gulped and then finally asked, “What do you mean by doomed fate?” Before Sadao had a chance to answer Katsuro’s Pokegear started ringing. He looked at the caller ID, but it simply said “Unavailable.” Katsuro looked at Shane but he just nodded and gestured him to answer it. “Hello, this is Katsuro.”

“Katsuro, it’s Nick. I’m sorry my Caller ID is blocked but I’m calling form work,” said Nick through the phone. Katsuro had the Pokegear on speaker.

“Your step dad huh,” asked Shane.

“What’s going on, and how come you didn’t call me form your Pokegear Nick,” asked Shane. There was an awkward silence but soon Nick responded.

“I… uh… left if at home and your mother couldn’t bring it to me so I figured I can use a company phone line to call my step son. That’s not the point though. Katsuro did you hear about the lake at the base of Mt. Mortar. Someone is polluting it! One of the trucks that drains Goldenrod’s sewage waste was hi-jacked and the person who stole it is now dumping it into the lakes causing massive pollution. The Pokémon in that lake will all get sick if they dump the truck’s entire contents or worse they will all die!”

“WHAT,” shouted both Katsuro and Shane.

“Katsuro, I trust you enough for you to find the truck, it should have “City of Goldenrod” painted on both sides of it, and stop whoever’s dumping the rotten sewage waste into the lake. Call me once you have the exact coordinates of the truck’s location on your pokegear and I’ll send someone from Ecruteak City to drive it back along with Officer Jenny to help you. Good luck buddy.” After Nick’s pleading the line went dead.

“For a City Hall employee he sure sucks at doing his own job. Oh well, might as well see if we can find that truck,” said Katsuro.

“Katsuro, remember, if anything should happen…” said monk Sadao.

“… head to the top of Tin Tower,” Katsuro finished the sentence. Sadao nodded and the two boys climbed onto Flygon’s back. It wasn’t long before they reached Route 42. It was hard to spot anything below them since night had fallen onto the Johto Region. Flygon suddenly cried out and the two boys looked down and saw what looked like a dark metal tank with two beams of light pointing out at trees.

“We need to be stealthy. Go down quickly and quietly Flygon,” instructed Shane. Flygon slowly hovered down keeping to the shadows of Mt. Mortar. Luckily the truck’s back was facing towards them. Shane, Katsuro, and Flygon quietly moved forward toward the truck and made it close enough to see who was behind all the pollution. They were both unhappy to see who it was holding a hose attached to the tank on the truck and dumping ugly green water that smelled horrid. Shane and Katsuro plugged their noses as they got closer and confirmed who it was.

“It’s her, Alexandra. She’s dumping the raw sewage into the lake! How did she get it here? She’s not old enough to drive” exclaimed Katsuro in a whispering voice. Shane then tapped Katsuro on the shoulder and then pointed further up in the cabin of the truck. The cabin light was on while the person inside it was viewing the dashboard with the controls for the hose that was emptying the truck’s tank while eating a rice ball. The man who drove the truck was Allister. Keeping their noses plugged, Shane and Katsuro quietly backed away so they could formulate a plan. Just as Katsuro was about to send their coordinates to Nick’s Pokegear a thorny vine appeared out of nowhere and wrapped around Katsuro’s forearm.

“Ow, that stings,” shouted Katsuro. He couldn’t help bursting out of anger with the thorns from the vines piercing into his skin. Then suddenly the Shiny Roserade known as Dark Sero then leapt down from the trees and tightened its grip on Katsuro with its thorny vines. Katsuro groaned in pain and knelt down on his knees. He began to wonder if he really did stand a chance against Alexandra and Allister.

Chapter 20: Suicune’s Roar of Anger

It was quite a sticky, and stinky, situation Katsuro had found himself in. Alexandra and her shiny Roserade had him cornered as she was overlooking the hose from the sewage waste truck dump the murky water into stream. Katsuro wondered what would cause him to pass out first, the stench from the raw sewage or the pain from Dark Sero’s thorny vines. He looked on to Alexandra as she stood in the rear lights of the truck. Only her upper body was clearly visible with her lower body dark as a shadow. The purple eye shadow making her face look uglier then usual.

“So, you and your friend stole that truck! What for,” demanded Katsuro. Alexandra just scoffed and snapped her finger. The thorny vines tightened their grip on Katsuro and he could feel a few thorns slice through his skin. “Ahh,” he yelled in pain.

“Let him go Alexandra,” shouted Shane.

“Well what do we have here, a couple of stalkers? My, my you boys are so persistent,” teased Alexandra as she walked closer to Shane and Katsuro.
“Rose,” snarled Dark Sero as it kept its tight grip on Katsuro. Alexandra walked up until she was inches away from both Shane and Katsuro. They could smell perfume that could’ve been made from a Bellosom’s flowers. Her perfume was refreshing over the smell of the sewage.

“What are you and Allister doing? You’re going to enrage the Pokémon living here,” said Katsuro. Alexandra laughed maniacally. Suddenly the boys were unsure of what to think of the situation.

“That’s exactly the idea, silly boys. We are going to enrage the protector of the waters, Suicune!” Shane and Katsuro became alarmed. Katsuro tried to swing his arm to hit Alexandra but Dark Sero continued to restrain him and a thorn pierced itself further into his forearm. Katsuro just yelped in pain again.

“You may have Katsuro out of action but that I’ll still take you on,” said Shane as he brought out a pokeball and pressed the button to enlarge it. “Lairon -”

“Now Murkrow,” shouted Alexandra. Camouflaging with the dark night sky it seemed as though Murkrow appeared out of nowhere when it was sitting on top of the sewage truck the entire time. Murkrow swooped down and began pecking at Shane’s spiky hair.

“Hey, hey, not the hair. NOT THE HAIR,” shouted Shane as he flailed his arms around him tyring to keep Murkrow away from him.

“You got plenty of hair gel to restyle it Shane,” said Katsuro. Finally Shane managed to hit Murkrow in the face. Murkrow became angered and instead of pecking at his hair Murkrow swooped down and aimed for Shane’s crotch. Shane buckled down in pain and growled at Murkrow.

“Ok, the hair,” he grunted. Murkrow flew back and perched itself on Alexandra’s upper arm as she bent her elbow outward. Shane and Katsuro both looked on in anger.

“That’s enough playing around Alexandra,” said Allister as he stepped out of the driver’s seat of the truck and took the last bite of his rice ball. Then he pointed at Katsuro. “You, you’re that boy who crashed into my high speed movement sensor a while ago. It can’t be a coincidence that you’re here before me now,” said Allister.

“The monks told me about you and the Unown showed me all I need to know about you. You’re Allister, and if you think the Legendary Pokémon would side by you then you’re demented,” retorted Katsuro. His comments earned him more cuts on his arms and legs from where Dark Sero was restraining him.

“Oh dear, you sound just like Monk Daichi and the others. Very well, if you can’t see things my way, I will force you to vanish from my sight,” said Allister as he threw a Pokeball into the air and out popped a Houndoom. Houndoom howled into the night and the howling sent shivers down Shane’s and Katsuro’s spines. “My loyal friend Houndoom, punish them at once with your Flamethrower!”

Shane and Katsuro gasped as Houndoom raised its snout upward and flames began to leak out from its jaw. Houndoom was preparing to char boil them and they had no way to defend themselves. Shane was still in pain from Murkrow’s attack and struggled to get back up on his feet as he reached for his pokeball. Then Houndoom lowered its snout and opened its mouth. There was flash of light as the flamethrower attack launched out and streamed toward the boys. Katsuro closed his eyes and for a moment everything around him stood still. He could feel the heat from Flamethrower come closer to him as he began to sweat.

“Cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnneeee!”

Katsuro gasped as rings of water surrounded him and Shane. Theses rings of water, where have I seen them before, Katsuro asked himself in his head. Then suddenly he remembered the vision from the Sinjoh Ruins. Suicune could use Aqua Ring. He began to wonder if Suicune was nearby.

“We’re going to enrage the protector of the waters, Suicune.”

“Oh no, Suicune’s come to our rescue but fallen into their trap,” Katsuro said under his breath. He looked over to Shane who was now standing with his left arm being soaked by Aqua Ring. He held his pokeball in his right hand and then threw it into the air.

“Now Quagsire, it’s way beyond payback time,” shouted Shane as he threw his Pokeball. Quagsire emerged from the flash of light from the pokeball and appeared by Shane’s side. At that same moment a strong breeze of wind slashed by Katsuro cutting the thorny vines and causing Dark Sero some pain. Katsuro was free and he was also ready for some payback.

“Sneasel, you’re up,” shouted Katsuro as he brought out his transparent pokeball. Even before being released from the pokeball Sneasel showed it was ready for a revenge match against Alexandra. It jumped out as the pokeball opened up and then dug its claws into a tree branch. Sneasel then scrapped off the bark to help sharpen its claws and warn Alexandra and her shiny Roserade that it was stronger now.

“You still haven’t evolved that thing? Grow up Katsuro or you’ll never beat me,” teased Alexandra.

“Evolution doesn’t mean much. It’s what attack we know like this one: Ice Punch!” Sneasel ran in with its right paw glowing with a light blue aura. Ice began to form around the base of its paw and stretch up to the end of its sharp claw as Sneasel closed in to Dark Sero. Dark Sero was prepared and used Sludge Bomb to send Sneasel back. Sneasel didn’t back down, it kept on side stepping out of the sludge bomb’s line of fire and closed in. Finally Dark Sero was hit with Ice Punch and the ice stuck to the left side of its face. Dark Sero fell to the ground with shards of ice around it.

“Murkrow, Drill Peck!” Alexandra’s Murkrow began diving at Sneasel while spinning like a corkscrew. Then Shane’s Quagsire appeared.

“Use Yawn!” Quagsire opened its mouth and a puff of white air appeared. Murkrow dived through Yawn and was enveloped in the white stream of air that would’ve put it to sleep. However Murkrow’s Drill Peck was successful as it rammed its beak into Sneasel. Then it ascended into the air while showing no signs of being sleepy.

“That Murkrow has Insomnia Ability! We gotta think of something else Shane,” warned Katsuro. Suddenly the winds picked up speed. The smell of sewage waste became strong again as the winds pushed it toward where everyone was battling. Katsuro and Shane plugged their noses instantly. The stench reminded both boys of seeing a Muk up close. Soon a light blue figure could be seen. It was Suicune and it was leaping around on the water’s surface.

It was truly an amazing sight. Suicune was glowing light blue and the dark blue mane on its back flowed in the wind magnificently. As Suicune landed on the water’s surface it too began to glow light blue. The water was being purified and relieved of the pollution Allister and Alexandra were dumping into it. Then a ball of air began to form above Suicune’s head. It began charging an Air Slash attack. Once the ball of air was as big as its head it fired it at the truck, destroying it in one shot and preventing more raw sewage from being dumped into the lake.

Shane and Alexandra were amazed by Suicune’s entrance but Katsuro became worried. He knew this is exactly what Allister wanted. On second thought, Allister hadn’t participated in the battle yet. Katsuro gasped, and looked around. Allister had seemingly disappeared along with his Houndoom. Suddenly, he made his move.

“Gengar, use Mean Look,” shouted Allister. He was now on the other side of the truck. When the Aqua Ring attack Suicune created block his Houndoom’s Flamethrower he knew Suicune was close by. He signaled for Alexandra to distract the boys while he recalled Houndoom into its pokeball. Then he slipped away to prepare for his upcoming encounter with Suicune. Now at last the moment he’s been waiting for had come. The first Legendary Pokemon that would capture was going to be Suicune. Now that Gengar floated toward Suicune and a black aura appeared around Suicune as Gengar used Mean Look it was surely his day to celebrate.

“Oh no, Suicune run,” yelled Katsuro.

“It’s no good Katsuro! You should know that now Suicune is under Mean Look’s spell its not going anywhere and there’s nothing you can do about it,” said Alexandra. She then snapped her finger and Dark Sero got up with both bouquets on its arms glowing green. Then its eyes glowed green as it began using Giga Drain. Quagsire then became enveloped in the green aura.

“Sneasel, stop Dark Sero with Faint Attack!” It was too late. Shane’s Quagsire began crying out in pain as the green aura suddently erupted into stream of green energy heading to Dark Sero. Quagsire was losing too much health. Sneasel ran in and hit Dark Sero while glowing with a black aura but it had recovered enough energy from Giga Drain to take the attack.

“Katsuro, forget her. We need to save Suicune,” shouted Shane. Katsuro nodded and reached for his pokeball. The headlights on the truck still worked and showed Suicune was busy battling a Gengar. Gengar kept disappearing and then reappearing as it launched attack and dodged Suicune’s. Suicune kept using Aqua Ring to recover but it was obvious it was at a disadvantage battling a Ghost type in the dark. Katsuro reached for another pokeball.

“Xatu let’s go!” Xatu appeared next to Shane as it stared outward toward Suicune. Then suddenly Katsuro saw something. He saw an odd type of pokeball hit Suicune on its snout and then Suicune turning red and being forced into the pokeball. Then the pokeball fell into the lake near the truck. Katsuro closed his eyes and shook his head, but as soon as he opened his eyes again he saw a Pokémon encased in ice. Katsuro never saw that Pokémon before as it was oval shaped with spikes on top.

“Katsuro, quit spacing out,” shouted Shane. Katsuro gasped and came to his senses. The vision suddenly stopped and he now saw a slightly different battle scenario occurring. Dark Sero kept on firing Sludge Bombs, this time they were aimed at Shane’s Spoink who kept on dodging them by bouncing high on its tail. “Spoink, use Psychic!” The pearl on Spoink’s head began to glow and then a strong force hit Dark Sero.

“R-rose… er… rade…” growled Dark Sero as it tried to withstand the intense force of Spoink’s attack. However it was already weakened by Sneasel’s attack and it finally gave it. Dark Sero flew backwards and crashed into the remains of the sewage truck Suicune destroyed. Katsuro then forcused on Allister and Gengar.

“Xatu, use Ominous Wind on Gengar!” Xatu flew up and above the lake. The eye patterns on Xatu’s chest began glowing red as Xatu began flapping its wings more viciously with blades of purple energy flying towards Gengar. Gengar saw the attacks coming and swiftly dodge them in mid air.

“Stop it boy. My battle is with Suicune now so you’ll have to halt your interference. Gengar, punish Xatu with Shadow Ball,” commanded Allister. It only took a second for Gengar to gather energy into a ball and then fire the Shadow Ball at Xatu. Katsuro gasped as Xatu crashed into the lake. Without even thinking, Katsuro jumped into the water and swam towards his fallen Pokémon.

“Xatu, hand on,” said Katsuro as he quickly held his breath and dove under water. Keeping his eyes opened under water was useless as it was dark at night. However after several seconds of searching with his arms spread out in front of him he found Xatu. He grabbed it by one of its wings and began swimming to the surface. It only took five second to reach the surface and Katsuro breathed heavily once his head was out of the water. Xatu then also popped out of the water but was too weak to fly out. Katsuro had to drag Xatu through the lake and then recalled it into his pokeball.

“Are you OK Katsuro,” asked Shane.

“Yeah,” replied Katsuro as he tried to catch his breath. “But I’m more worried about Suicune.” They looked on as Suicune as hit by another Shadow Ball attack.

“You boys should worry about yourselves. Dark Sero maybe out of action but my Zangoose is more then willing to tear your Pokémon to shreds,” said Alexandra as she threw another Pokeball. Her Zangoose appeared on the ground on all fours, growling with ferocity.

“Time for round two Spoink,” said Shane, but Spoink seemed to be missing in action. “Uh… Spoink?” Katsuro tapped Shane on the shoulder then pointed down on the ground. Spoink hadn’t been bouncing on its tail so it went under cardiac arrest again. Shane sighed and just recalled it into his pokeball. Katsuro’s Sneasel looked on to Zangoose. Zangoose growled at it stared down Sneasel. Sneasel growled back since it wanted revenge for the one shot knock out last time they battled.

“Zangoose, use Crush Claw!”

“Sneasel, Icy Wind!”

The two Pokémon clashed with Zangoose running on all fours straight into Sneasel’s Icy Wind, However Zangoose didn’t stop as snow began to form on its head and back. With its claws extending, Zangoose came in range to strike Sneasel. Sneasel kept on exhaling the Icy Wind attack but Zangoose stood up on its legs, and slashed Sneasel in the face with the Crush Claw attack. Sneasel tumbled backwards, dug its claws into the ground to prevent it from sliding too far back, and got back up on its feet. The two Pokémon began staring each other down again.

“Faint attack, Sneasel! You can do it!”

“Not so fast, Zangoose use Close Combat!”

Sneasel and Zangoose booth ran toward each other. Sneasel hit Zangoose first with a claw glowing black, but Zangoose countered with multiple punches and finishing with a devastating scratch from its claw. Sneasel flew backwards and was knocked out.

“Sneasel! Sneasel are you ok,” said Katsuro. Sneasel just laid there on the ground, dazed and faintly repeating its name. Katsuro quickly recalled it. Suddenly they all heard Suicune roar! Alexandra and the boys looked on and saw Suicune’s head crest glow bright blue. Allister and Gengar looked on in awe. Finally Suicune howled, its head crest still glowing and then it finally unleashed a blast of cold air and ice. Gengar became trapped by Suicune’s Sheer Cold attack. Allister had to wrap himself in his red cloak as the freezing winds blew past him. Once Sheer Cold had cleared Gengar was encased in ice.

“Goodness me, what power,” exclaimed Allister as he recalled Gengar. Then a black aura reappeared around suicune and then faded, signifying that Mean Look no longer held Suicune prisoner. Now was its chance to flee, or so it thought. As soon as Suicune turned around Alexandra’s Murkrow was staring at it with its eyes glowing black. It was Mean Look all over again! Suicune counted with an Air Slash. The attack sliced through Murkrow and it disappeared. Suicune looked around and there were dozens of Murkrow surrounding it. Murkrow had used Double Team earlier to trick Suicune. It seemed Alexandra and Allister were prepared with a Plan B.

“Now Zangoose, hit Suicune with False Swipe while Murkrow keeps it distracted,” ordered Alexandra. Zangoose hopped onto the real Murkrow’s back and then they glided toward Suicune. Suicune’s head crest was glowing light blue again as another Sheer Cold attack was being prepared. Zangoose jumped down and then slashed Suicune.

“Hey, leave Suicune alone,” yelled Katsuro.

“Try and stop us,” retorted Alexandra.

“Fine, we will, right Larvitar?” Katsuro threw another Pokeball and his Larvitar appeared. It was also angry at the two people trying to capture Suicune.

“Flygon, you help too,” said Shane as his Flygon came out of its pokeball. “Use Dragon Breath to eliminate the Murkrow copies.”

“Larvitar, make it hard for Murkrow to fly around. Use Rock Slide!” Shane’s Flygon exhaled a stream of an orange flame that hit many of the Murkrow copies. The copies vanished as Flygon hit each one and flew around trying to eliminate them. Once the illusions dissapeared Larvitar spotted the real Murkrow with Zangoose flying on its back. Larvitar used Rock Slide and caused rocks bigger then Murkrow to collapse down on it and Zangoose. They were knocked into the lake.

“Yeah, take that,” cheered Katsuro. Zangoose easily swam across the surface of the water while Murkrow seemed to struggle. Alexandra knew if she recalled it into her pokeball Mean Look would ware off again and Suicune would surely escape. She knew she had to think of something quickly.

“Zangoose, change of plans. Hit Suicune with False Swipe!” Zangoose obeyed Alexandra’s commands. It swam across the water toward Suicune. Suicune was using Aqua Ring to heal itself. Zangoose jumped up from the water and swiped it with its claws repeatedly. Shane and Katsuro became angered.

“Flygon hit Zangoose with Dragon Breath!” Flygon let out a high pitch cry as it flew in towards Zangoose. Larvitar jumped up and landed on Flygon’s back and rode in towards their enemies. Murkrow had finally escaped from the lake and began flying to intercept Flygon and Larvitar.

“Larvitar, shoot Murkrow down with Dark Pulse!” Larvitar’s horn glowed with dark energy that seemed to be a strobe light in the dark. A beam of darkness was shot out towards Murkrow and hit it, causing Murkrow to flinch. Flygon flew in and was now inches away from Zangoose and Suicune. With orange flames leaking from its mouth, Flygon stared down the Cat Ferret Pokémon.

“Use Detect!” Zangoose waited for the perfect moment while Flygon opened its mouth and let out a steam of orange flames. Zangoose was just treading water when Dragon Breath was streaming its way. Then suddenly Zangoose cut through the water and dodged Dragon Breath with amazing speed. Katsuro and Shane watched in shock as not only did the attack fail, but Dragon Breath ended up hitting Suicune instead.

“Cuuuuuunnne,” cried out Suicune in pain. Then sparks began covering its body. Suicune had become Paralyzed much to Shane and Katsuro’s dismay.

“Suicune we’re so sorry. We never meant to hurt you,” pleaded Shane.
“Lar-Larvitar! Tar tar,” cried out Larvitar. Suicune had both of its eyes shut from the pain it felt from being paralyzed, but it looked up and nodded at Larvitar as if to say “it’s alright.” Katsuro walked to the water’s edge and watched as Suicune suffered and Zangoose floated back toward the legendary Pokémon.

“Alexandra, our time is now,” said Allister.

“Yes Sensei. Zangoose, Flase Swipe. Murkrow, banish our foes with Icy Wind!” Zangoose leapt out of the water. Water droplets glistening from the headlights of the sewage truck as Zangoose flashed a sinister smile. It was as though Zangoose was prepared to slaughter Suicune with pride. Flygon and Larvitar began flying in to stop Zangoose but Murkrow began flapping its wings and exhaling blue powder. The cold wind hit Flygon and Larvitar for a super effective hit on both of them. Both Pokémon beingn hit by the Icy Wind attack grunted in pain.

“Larvitar, you got to stop Zangoose before it’s too late! Please Larvitar, you have to try,” pleaded Katsuro! Larvitar had it’s eyes closed as it endured the cold wind and tried to shied itself with its stubby arm.
“L-Lar… vit… tar.”
“Larvitar, don’t just do it for me! DO IT FOR SUICUNE!” Suddenly Larvitar felt a surge of energy and regained it’s will to fight. It opened its eyes and then raised its head up high.
“LARVITAR! LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!”

Suddenly Larvitar’s body began glowing white while it stood there on Flygon’s back. Murkrow became shocked as to what it was witnessing and stopped using Icy Wind. Zangoose didn’t care and continued its assault on Suicune. Allister and Alexandra looked on with a sense of dread as Larvitar began evolving. Katsuro felt a strong connection with his Larvitar. It was as if Larvitar was using his courage to gain the energy to evolve. Once the evolution was complete the light faded and now a Pupitar was riding on Flygon’s back. Pupitar’s body was tilting downward after evolving, but it soon looked up and gave Murkrow and angry stare.

“Murkrow, use Icy Wind again,” shouted Alexandra.

“Dragon Dance, then Outrage!” Pupitar began to rotate its body and create an orange-blue aura around it. Murkrow began flapping its wings and blow the Icy Wind attack toward Pupitar and Flygon. Then suddenly Pupitar stopping rotating and launched off Flygon like a rocket. With its body glowing bright orange and blue, it slammed into Murkrow and then jumped up. Murkrow lost track of Pupitar and became confused as to where it disappeared to. Pupitar then suddenly smashed into Murkrow from above and cause it to crash into the wreckage of the sewage truck’s cabin. Finally, Pupitar jumped out and let itself become confused on the lake’s edge.

Alexandra became furious that Pupitar manage to beat her Murkrow. She looked out to the lake and saw that Suicune was now collapsing from exhaustion. Zangoose had now done its part. “From bitter defeat we shall taste sweet victory,” said Allister as he held out an Ultra Ball. Then without saying anything he threw it at Suicune. Suicune looked out and saw the Ultra Ball coming. It wanted to run but it was now in too much pain to move as it laid there on the water’s surface. Katsuro watched as the pokeball hit Suicune on its dark blue mane flowing out from its torso. Suicune turned red and was sucked into the Ultra Ball.

“Please, no. Not Suicune,” said Katsuro fearfully. The Ultra Ball floated on the lake and shook only once. Then it opened up and Suicune popped out. Suicune cried out angrily and began charging up an Air Slash attack. The sphere of air above Suicune’s head swelled up until Suicune jutted its head forward and aimed it at Zangoose. Zangoose took the hit and was knocked into Allister’s arms. Allister fell backwards and landed on his back. Electric sparks surged through Suicune’s body as the Paralysis rendered it immobile again.

“Sensei, are you alright? Nevermind, I’ll take care of Suicune myself,” said Alexandra as she held out a Net Ball. Katsuro looked in awe, it was the same Pokeball Xatu showed him in that vision. He looked over to his Pupitar and saw that it was still confused from Outrage’s effect. Shane’s Flygon seemed a bit preoccupied with making sure Zangoose was down for the count. “Suicune, surrender to me now! This Net Ball is your new home!”

With that Alexandra threw the Net Ball. Katsuro began running into the lake but Suicune was too far away and wading through water was much slower movement then a Net Ball being thrown in the air. Katsuro had tears running down his eyes the moment the Net Ball hit Suicune. His heart rate also began rising dramatically as the lake’s water was now up to his waist.

“SUICUNE! NOOOOOOOOOOO!”

oooooooooooooooooooo cliff hanger im so suprised:rolleyes:

Chapter 21: Desperation

The Net Ball that Alexandra threw spun rapidly through the air as it flew toward the Paralyzed Suicune. Suicune had its eyes shut in pain but it slowly opened them to see the round capsule come closer and closer. Finally Suicune was hit. The Net Ball bounced off, opened up, and absorbed Suicune in a red beam of light. Katsuro was also in the lake trying to swim close enough to block the Net Ball but it was too late. There was a silence-breaking splash as the Net Ball landed in the lake with the button in the middle glowing red. It shook back and forth while floating on the lake’s surface.

“Oh crud,” Shane said softly as he watched what had happened. The Net Ball had already shaken back and forth at least three times now. Alexandra looked on from the water’s edge with a sinister grin on her face. With the headlights from the sewage truck shining onto the lake’s surface and the Net Ball nearly in the center of them she could see that all her struggles were about to pay off. Suddenly the Net Ball stopped shaking.

“Suicune? Come on, get out of there,” exclaimed Katsuro. The button on the Net Ball was still red. It felt like an eternity while it just floated there on the water. Everyone was about to find out if Allister and Alexandra had captured a legendary Pokémon. Shane tensed his closed fist, hoping that this battle had not been in vain.

The Net Ball popped opened and burst of white light ascended from it. Suicune emerged from the Net Ball and the capture had failed!
“Cuuuuuuuuuuune,” roared Suicune. Then it looked on toward Alexandra and her Murkrow with an angry glare.

Meanwhile out in the mountains near Blackthorn City Entei sensed something. “That roar…” Entei thought to itself. Then it immediately began running to Route 42. Elsewhere near National Park Raikou was relaxing near a lake when it also sensed something wrong. Just like Entei, it also began heading for Route 42.

“Grr, why won’t you just stay in the pokeball like most Pokémon,” scowled Alexandra after seeing Suicune standing on the water’s surface. “Well I have more from those came from!” Alexandra threw another Net Ball. This time Chase was close enough to defend Suicune. He threw out one of his own Pokeballs to intercept it.

“Stop it Alexandra! You have no right to capture Suicune,” shouted Katsuro.

“Ah, but this Suicune is very special to me,” said Allister.

“Shiny Suicune or not you don’t have the right to capture it. It’s just way outta line for someone like you to try to torment a Legendary Pokémon,” protested Katsuro.

“Suicune was once mine in another life, and it’ll be mine once again,” vowed Allister as he took another Net Ball from Alexandra and threw. Katsuro threw the Pokeball contianint his Eevee this time and Eevee appeared on Suicune’s back with foam oozing from its mouth and its left eye twitching.

“Eevee, shoot down the Net Ball with Secret Power!” Eevee’s body began glowing with a brown aura and then it used its Secret Power attack on the water’s surface. A wall of water came up surrounded in the same brown aura that Eevee was generating. The Net Ball bounced off, but Alexandra’s Murkrow flew in and caught it. Murkrow flew around Eevee’s attack and began diving down toward Eevee with a Drill Peck attack. Eevee was knocked off Suicune’s back and into the lake. It instantly began struggling in the water.

“Eevee, hang on,” shouted Katsuro. He had to move quickly before Eevee drowned. Suicune was about to move to help Katsuro save his Eevee but then Paralysis kicked in and jolts of electricity kept it still. Suicune winced as it tried to move. Katsuro grabbed his Eevee from a clump of its fur coat and lifted it out of the water.

“Suicune, the time has come! Return to me and let us be partners once more,” said Allister as he threw yet another Net Ball. Katsuro glanced over his shoulder to see the Net Ball hit Suicune and it was turned into a red beam and sucked into the Net Ball.

“Suicune, hang in there,” shouted Katsuro in desperation. Katsuro saw Suicune open its eye after squinting in pain for so long. It took one last look at Katsuro and then let itself be sucked into the Net Ball. The Net Ball splashed in front of Katsuro and he gritted his teeth hoping it would come out of the Net Ball again. The Net Ball shook back and forth on the water’s surface. The longer Suicune stayed in the Net Ball the faster Katsuro’s heart was beating.

The Net Ball had white sparks come out and the red light on the Net Ball’s center went out. Suicune was officially captured. Katsuro gasped in horror and for a second forgot he was swimming. His head went under water for a brief second but he quickly regained his senses and began treading water while holding onto his Eevee. Katsuro felt a wave of dread wash over him as he floated in the lake. Murkrow swooped in and grabbed the Net Ball.

“At last,” razed Allister as Murkrow dropped the Net Ball into the joined palms of his hands. “Suicune is mine!” Allister held up the Net Ball and laughed like a mad man. Shane pictured him with lightening going off in the background. “Now Suicune you shall battle at my side!” Suicune was allowed to come out of the Net Ball but as soon as it emerged it showed signs of paralysis once again. Allister brought out a Full Restore and gave it to Suicune. Even though Suicune disliked its new trainer it accepted the medicine.

“This is way beyond bad! I don’t know how we can win now,” panicked Shane. Katsuro then came up from the lake and recalled his Eevee back into its Pokeball. He looked over near the sewage truck and saw that his Pupitar was still confused from Outrage’s effects. They both looked over to Suicune in grief. Allister had a sinister grin on his face as he turned his attention to the two boys opposing him.

“Suicune, it’s time to punish the boys. Use your Sheer Cold attack on both of them,” ordered Allister. Suicune hesitated and didn’t move. “What’s the matter with you Suicune. Attack with Sheer Cold.” Suicune snarled at Allister. Clearly it refused to obey him, captured or not.

“Suicune is still our friend,” said Katsuro calmly. Suddenly Suicune being captured wasn’t such a bad thing after all. Allister, on the other hand, wouldn’t have any of it. He let out his Gengar used a Revive on it.

“You will obey me, weather you want to or not. Gengar, control Suicune with your Hypnosis,” said Allister. Shane and Katsuro gasped as Gargar floated over to Suicune and began hypnotizing it with its glowing eyes. Suicune’s pupils suddenly shrunk and it appeared depressed.

“Pupitar, snap out of it and help us,” shouted Katsuro. Luckily Pupitar’s confusion wore off and it rushed to its trainer’s side. Pupitar was ready for battle. “OK, use Dark Pulse on Gengar!” Pupitar began charging a black ball of energy and prepared to fired it. However Gengar sensed it coming and then turned to face Pupitar and the boys. It pointed its finger at them and Suicune’s head crest began glowing light blue. Pupitar fired its Dark Pulse with a beam of black energy and successfully hit Gengar but Suicune quickly counted with Sheer Cold.

There was a blast of snow and ice so intense that it nearly blinded Shane and Katsuro. “Pupitar,” yelled out Katsuro. The instant blizzard kept on blowing and the air around them became colder and colder. Katsuro began to wish he was wearing warming clothes. Shane began shivering as the Sheer Cold attack came to an end and the snow settled down. After the impact Pupitar could be seen encased in a block of solid ice that was at about two feet thick.

“Oh crud. Now what do we do,” asked Shane. He looked over to his weakened Flygon, but it had become so worn out that it barely had the energy to fly.

“The Flygon is next. Use Sheer Cold again,” ordered Allister. Gengar began using its Hypnosis to control Suicune again. As soon as Suicune’s crystal on its head began glowing again a roar that sounded like thunder crashing could be hear in the distance. It was Raikou and it came running along the mountainside of Mt Mortar. The golden cloud on its back was sparking with electricity. It then formed a sphere of lightning and bolts of electricity began sparking outward form it. Raikou fired a Zap Cannon attack and hit Gengar dead on.

“Raikou, not you too! It’s dangerous here,” warned Katsuro. Shane didn’t panic and took the opportunity he saw to end the battle.

“Quick Flygon use Dragon Breath on Gengar,” shouted Shane. Flygon drew in a breath and then exhaled out the orange flames. Gengar was too tired to avoid the attack so it became engulfed in Dragon Breath.
“Dear me, Raikou has decided to rejoin me as well,” said Allister with a gentle tone. Raikou roared angrily at Allister. It then looked over to the Hypnotized Suicune and let out a low growl.

“I don’t care. I just want to capture it. Murkrow use Icy Wind,” said Alexandra. But Raikou attacked first with another Zap Cannon by quickly charging the ball of electricity and firing it from its rain cloud. Murkrow was knocked out in one shot. Alexandra became bitter at the sudden defeat.

“It seems the capture of one of its comrades has greatly angered it Alexandra. We have to be craftier with obtaining this one,” warned Allister.

“I figured that out on my own Sensei. However I think it would be wise to call it a night and save Raikou for later. We’re almost out of healing supplies and we had no plans for Raikou,” said Alexandra. At that point they heard another roar, this one sounded like a volcano erupting and everyone saw Entei running along the Mt Mortar and its coat lighting the night with a blazing red flame. Without hesitation Entei proceeded to use Flare Blitz finishing off Gengar, thawing out Pupitar, and finally ramming into Flygon. Flygon hit the ground and mud near the lake’s edge and was knocked out.

“Entei stop, we’re not you’re enemies,” pleaded Katsuro. Entei’s Flare Blitz’s flames went out but everyone could see the anger in its eyes and it let out another violent roar. Raikou, now fully aware of the situation before it, began crying out to Suicune. Somehow Katsuro knew it was trying to talk Suicune to come back to its senses. Suicune just stood there while staring off into the distance, not responding in any way what so ever.

“Suicune, make them back off with Air Slash,” said Allister. Suicune’s white streamers at the side of its body whipped up and a ball or compressed air began to form behind its head. Raikou kept of pleading with roars to try to communicate with Suicune. Entei saw that it was no use. It quickly pushed Raikou out of the way and then lit its body on fire for another Flare Blitz. Suicune fired its Air Slash and Entei jumped up and intercepted the attack. Flames showered down everywhere. One of them even landed in Alexandra’s hair and she screamed as her long curly hair caught on fire.

“Ah, Sensei, help,” she panicked.

“The lake Alexandra, just jump into the lake,” instructed Allister. With the back of her hair in a small bon fire she quickly dropped to the ground and rolled into the lake. A small puff of steam appeared as she dropped into the cold water. When she emerged her purple eye shadow began washing out from her eye lids. “Please refrain from using too much hair spray, or any make up for that matter Alexandra.”

“Honestly I like her with or without make up,” whispered Shane to himself. Katsuro elbowed him, trying to get him to remember that they were enemies. Suicune and Entei then stood face to face. Entei was clearly ready to continue battling but Suicune stood there completely unaware of what was going on. Raikou quickly ran in between them and looked at Entei while shaking its head. Entei snarled in anger.

“Sensei, I think its time for us to leave,” said Alexandra. Her hair shorter and uneven hair and clothes were now dripping wet.

“This is our chance Alexandra. We must -”

“Sensei, we’re out matched even with Suicune at our side. Your original plan was a success. We must leave and I need to see a hair stylist first thing in the morning.” Alexandra was clearly upset about the current situation. Even thought Allister was annoyed with her beauty needs he agreed that it was indeed time to retreat.

“Farewell Katsuro. I’m sure we shall cross paths again,” said Allister as he held out the Net Ball and recalled Suicune. Entei and Raikou looked on with concern as Suicune disappeared. Then Allister threw another pokeball and a Claydol appeared. Entei was still enraged and began another Flare Blitz attack and running toward Allister’s Claydol.

“Claydol, teleport,” instructed Allister. Within a blink of an eye Claydol, Allister, and Alexandra vanished and Entei’s Flare Blitz was for nothing. The flames surrounding its body disappeared and it walked back to Raikou. Raikou looked to Katsuro. Katsuro frowned in despair as he rubbed Pupitar’s cold body. It was unconscious and its body temperature was very low for a Rock Type Pokémon.

“Pupitar…” said Katsuro sadly.

“Katsuro,” said Raikou. Raikou began using its limited telepathic powers to communicate with him. “I know how you can heal Pupitar.” Entei suddenly became alerted and roared.

“Surely you do not suggest that this idiot climbs to the top of the Tin Tower,” snarled Entei.

“The Tin Tower? Again,” exclaimed Shane.

“Hush Entei. I suggest you cool off for a bit in the lake while I help the boy,” retorted Raikou. Entei growled angrily.

“You are pathetic. We are forced to roam this region to avoid the humans but here you come as if you believe the boy is gentle as a Blissey,” said Entei.

“Entei, I am only speaking my mind to the boy. Katsuro, it is true we were both brought into the world on the same day in the same temple. I remember your father, the archeologist, and that scared-to-death mother of yours rode on my back as I took you all to the Indigo Plateau. I could sense your gentle spirit that day. I knew if I was to be with a trainer again you were the best candidate,” explained Raikou.

“So why do I have to go the Tin Tower,” asked Katsuro. Entei roared to interrupt them once again.

“Talking is useless. Instead of focusing on the boy we must find that wretched human and rescue Suicune,” said Entei. Raikou jumped and did a 180 degree turn to face Entei now.

“I believe that this boy will lead us to Suicune. Desperate times have arrived Entei so I will go with the boy,” said Entei.

“What?!” Raikou found an empty transparent Pokeball, one of Katsuro’s. It hit the button and let itself become absorbed by the red beam and sucked into the pokeball. “No you fool,” growled Entei. Shane and Katsuro both dropped their jaws. They found it hard to believe that Raikou willingly got captured. The transparent pokeball stopped shaking and the white sparks shot out of it. Katsuro picked it and gazed in aw at the miniature Raikou inside.

“Wow, don’t worry Raikou. We’ll rescue Suicune together. I promise,” said Katsuro as he slipped the pokeball into his pocket. He then recalled his Pupitar. Entei turned its back to Shane and Katsuro and began walking away slowly.

“Wait Entei, won’t you help us save Suicune too,” asked Shane. Entei stopped, began glowing red, and suddenly Flare Blitz’s flames erupted around its body as Entei roared in anger once again.

“I WILL NEVER SIDE WITH A HUMAN!” With that Entei ran off into the woods and disappeared within seconds.

“Man, talk about anger issues,” said Shane.

“Maybe because Entei’s a hot head, both literally and figuratively,” said Katsuro. Shane and Katsuro collected their injured Pokémon and headed for Ecruteak’s Pokémon Center.
