Target Stores and EX Dragon?

Oops, they did it again...

Gotta go meet my g/f for a (very) late dinner, so I'll post details here later, but Target broke the street date again...

Okay, here's the deal -

I got off work a bit after 8 tonight. I'd been checking the Target across from where I work with no luck (I call it luck, since I want the cards ;)) about every other day. Well, today, instead of going to Target, I went by the EB Games to see if they had the Game & Watch cards in stock yet. They didn't, so I was sad and started to go home.

On the other side of town, I figured what the heck and stopped by the *other* Target location (1st Avenue - Evansville, Indiana) just to see if they had anything good. And what did I find? (You should already know by now...) Two pegs about half full (each) of Dragon boosters (no pre-cons though... :(). I picked up nine packs and went to the register and purchased seven of them with absolutly no problems (I was short on cash though...) Check out time was at 9:27 (according to the receipt).

After I checked out, I went straight to their service desk and asked to speak with a manager and a few mins later, a gentleman named "Art" came out. He was a wonderfully nice guy (even after I mentioned that I work for Wally World) and I explained (nicely, of course) to him that the cards have a released date and *why* and told him that, even though I was going to have to "report" it, that he might want to go ahead and pull what was left off the pegs to help minimize any problems. The gentleman I spoke with did seem honestly concerned and said he'd get it taken care of and thanked me and such...

I'm going by there tommrow (with more cash, of course) to see if they still have 'em out though...

Thanks Jimmers. :)

I felt obligated to post this as well, to report the date violation as well as show that UncleBob's report was not an isolated case.

One of my League members reported that Target had EX Dragons packs out for sale (just booster packs, no theme decks) before our League started Thursday night (6 pm CST). He purchased 5 packs and showed me the receipt at league.

Feel free to contact me if you needed anymore information.

Since my topic got closed, I'll say here: Target is selling Dragon NOW!!!
We already know this, there are several posts just above this that say the same thing  . Now if you can provide something helpful like a location *where* Target is selling them, perhaps this can help MT_Jimmer track down the problem.

Thanks,

I went back to the same Target today and sure enough, they were still out. In fact, I think they had actually put *more* out. Still no theme decks though. :(

The other Evansville Target still hasn't out them out though.

Sorry, didn't know it was a problem... I see now that the offical release date is Monday. Target in Valparaiso In had boosters out, no theme decks. Hope I helped.

Hi Dave,
well now to add to the TARGET store problem or better yet ..resolve the store issues all together i hope but here is another store:
I just got back from my local Game Stop and they are selling the blister packs and selling the theme decks today!
there shipment came in this morning and by the afternoon they were being sold.
I will be stopping at my local Target in the morning to check them out as well.
Looks like GAME STOP did it this time....they also listed the release date on the web as Nov. 17th.

<sarcasm>Well, good thing you got yours before pointing out that they weren't supposed to be released yet, and asking him to pull them.</sarcasm>

At least we can benefit from others doing something wrong before telling them it's wrong.

If I either: a) played the game, b) was going to a pre-release tournament, or c) posted all the info on the cards over the internet then I'd feel bad. However, since I'm merely collecting the e-Reader compatible cards, I don't think it's really a problem.

The only reason I really spoke with the manager/posted about it on this board is because I've made some good friends here *and* I see the effort put forward by the small box stores who are actually *supporting* the game and I feel it's wrong for any big box retailer to get such an unfair advantage. For my own, personal reasons, I could care less who gets them early and who doesn't - however, I'm trying to look beyond that here and be somewhat helpful.

Plus, I wanted to purchase the cards in order to see if there were any probelms going through the register with them. At Wal-Mart, on some of the releases, the register will not let you sell them until the release date (music, movies, etc...) and I didn't want to look like an *** if I spoke with the manager just to find out they wouldn't sell 'em anyway. Granted, that was a small part of the reason I bought them, but none the less...

I'm sorry if you're so offended by my actions. Next time, I'll just buy the cards and go home...

I don't think anyone's sayin' that they're "offended", he did kinda say it was sarcasm, didn't he? ;)
I'm sure no one here wants to start any problems(Hopefully :p )
Either way, last time I went to to Target(about a week ago), they weren't selling it, but then again, the prereleases were just startin' up  .

Put Oakland Ca on the map i saw the theme deck but didn't want to buy since it was flygon and salamence the rare ones any one got the know whats inside?

The ones in Utah still does not have them as of this morning. They have a picture of it saying coming this month, but nothing yet.

The problem I see here is that this hurts the game stores where we play Pokemon.

If they, the game stores where we play, follow the rules and Target and EB and others start selling the cards early, then the game stores where we play are losing business.

Nintendo has here another chance to show their support for the game. Will they take it?
