1. Is it possible to change your username?

2. Is it possible to trade cards for nothing, basically giving a card for free?

A lot of times people will put up a trade asking for a free Metapod or something just so that they can put a "CHECK MY OTHER TRADES" title up.

I always give them the free Metapod just to inconvenience them.
 
I'm pretty sure they got rid of trades where one party doesn't give up anything in one of the updates. There was a big problem early on with people scamming, saying they were giving away free cards, when they were actually stealing people's cards. They really should have had a report trade button up on there, that would have helped fix the problem.
