Team G.L.E.C

Alright, ensignmerlin, Lucario EX, and charmander rox. I'm happy to report that we have been unquestionably stuck together on a team and must come up with a team name. I have a few ideas...

G.L.E.C - G for Greenzangoose, L for Lucario EX, E for ensignmerlin, and C for charmander rox.
CaChamps - fuse CaC and champs and you get...
Team Green - Just throwing it out there... XD

And then we need a mascot. It could be a pokemon or it could be something else (Something unexpected maybe) whatever it is it should fit with our team name.

And then finally is the whole 500-1000 word team goal thing... which seems boring for one person to write the entire thing... I think each person should write 200 words about a single goal, whatever they think represents themself the most, and we'll combine it together afterwords. that way it shows that our team is multiple pieces combined together to form something awesome.

So let's get some ideas moving through here, I'll type up my goal piece and combine everything together on Sunday in order to get it ready in time. :thumb:

GZLEECR...
With only two vowels, this isn't going to work... snap...

Team G.L.E.C. sounds cool, CaChamps doesn't. Team Green... no.

Mascot... mascot... idk, how about Missingno.?

Question: What's this thread about? I didn't see a CaC contest thread since like ever.
Why would I get out?

How about Team Gekko?

Since G.L.E.C. sounds kinda like Gek in Gekko... and also the whole Gekko State thing xD

edit:

other options might be Team Nowhere XD might fit with a missingno mascot.

edit 2:

just realized the similarity in the spellings of option and potion...

Alright, so is seems like Team G.L.E.C is the name right? Unless anyone has anything to say against it or can think of a better name.

Mascot... there isn't really a mascot that would totally fit for G.L.E.C is there? Maybe Missing no. would be the best thing. XD

And as for the summary of our goals, I still like the idea of each person typing up 200 words and then adding it together, it'll show we are here for different reasons but we are here together! :thumb:

GLEC and Missingno, I agree.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

My goal is to increase the integrity of any cards created on these forums.

On these PokeGym forums, I see plenty of decent cards. On the other hand, I also see a bunch of junk, poorly put together in about a minute, with poor grammar, balance, and concept. My goal is for my cards not to be part of this junk. On every card I make, I make sure that it has perfect grammar, based on previous cards, I compare its powers and faults with previously designed cards, and I always have a plan for my cards. I also plan to help my teammates and fellow Gym members to improve their cards in the areas of grammar, balance, and concept, to the standards that Nintendo themselves hold their cards, and beyond.

hmm... well, if that's what everyone wants, though I think Flygon might work for team G.L.E.C....

as for options and potions, well... I had a typo xD

My goal is to pass on the ways of faking to the new generation.

I've been a part of this board since the days of the CACTI alliance, an elitest group of fakers who helped establish some of the founding qualities of the board today. However, back then they were often the only people posting aside from myself and a few other newbies. Despite having done some fakes earlier, with the use of Photoshop and Nick15's FakeCard.com, things tended to be a bit difficult here. Even though CACTI had afforded some stability to the board and its members, new members were often frowned upon and criticized heavily. Earning a place within the community could takes months before earning any sign of recognition.

Since those days back in 2005, we've had a revolution of sorts with many new members flowing in at once. At the same time, the old members of CACTI had less and less time online due to college and the complications of everyday life. Today we have a new crowd of members, one that is far more tolerant but also has less experience. As one of the few members that continue to use these boards it is my duty to see to it that our long history can continue. To further this end, I've become a moderator of this board to ensure that guides and information imparted by former members can be used in future generations of fakers. Before these days there was rarely a moderator seen within this board's confines, so information could only really be found by digging through page after page of threads. Now, I can take new information and sticky it for all to see and use.

In this new era of faking we can see a lot more creativity and fresh ideas than back in the old days, as there continues to be more freedom on these boards, and for as long as I am able, I'd like to help maintain these boards and protect them from those that would sully its history and good name with cards of little to no use whatsoever.

Even though Flygon could work... I personally like Missing No.

Can you really deny that face? XD

Anyways, out team name is GLEC and our mascot Pokemon is Missing No.

*Note-Lucario EX, you should write a 200 word goal now please.*

My goal is to think of ideas never before thought of by thinking like nobody has ever thought like!

Even though I'm rather new and have been doing CaC things for a very short time, my unusual contests (Which I WILL make another one soon) and unusual card designs and mechanics have made my cards stand out. I want to inspire other people to think differently than they ever have before, not normally or even backwards but in new ways that don't make sense at first, ways that are only understood once they are completed and fully thought out! It doesn't take much in order to make a well developed card, some time and experience is all, but it takes true talent and creativity in order to bring in a new idea or a fresh concept or even in order to change an old concept in an unexpected way.

I believe that as long as a person strives for something and thinks creatively about it that it doesn't matter how experienced they are. I want to help people understand that it isn't the card details itself that makes a card good but it is the whole picture that makes better sense than the individual pieces. I know that experience comes and goes, knowledgeable people pass, and the best workers go away, but a creative mind and unique attitude and thinking process is what can make a person great.

My goal is to learn more about Pokemon TCG.

Pokemon is and always has been about striving for knowledge. It does not matter if you have better cards, it's the good players who will win tournaments. It does not matter what Pokemon are on your team, you cannot win unless you understand the hidden concepts of the game. Whatever part of Pokemon you compete in, it all comes down to who has a greater understanding of the mechanics.

It's my hope that attempting to design cards will help me learn more about the great game of the Pokemon TCG, that by analyzing the wording, mechanics, and balance, I will become a better player and judge.

By thinking of what might be a good hypothetical counter to a common archetype, I can figure out a counter that actually exists. By knowing when a card is balanced, I can more easily find the cards that are overpowered, but also overlooked. By considering what the best way would be to explain a confusing effect, I can better understand the effects of cards that have been released. Knowledge is the path to victory in Pokemon, and is, in my opinion, always the most interesting one to travel.

Ampharos Lv. 53 -120HP- [L]
Stage 1 - Evolves from Flaafy

Picture: Ampharos is visible in a lighthouse. Its tail is shining brightly, shining a beam through the lens to attact sailors. Lanturn can be seen jumping out of the water towards the top of the lighthouse.

[Poke-POWER] Lighthouse Signal
Once during your turn (before you attack), you may choose a Supporter card from your deck and put it next to your Active Pokémon. Use the effect of that Supporter card as the effect of this power. Then, flip a coin. If heads, discard that Supporter card. Shuffle your deck afterward. You can't use more than 1 Lighthouse Signal Poke-Power each turn. This power can't be used if Ampharos is affected by a Special Condition.

[L] Intense Flash 30
Your opponent draws a card at the end of his or her next turn instead of at the beginning.

[L][L][C] Thunder 120
Flip a coin. If tails, Ampharos does 50 damage to itself.

Ampharos are used by lighthouse guards in case of a blackout, so as to utilize the light at the end of their tails to guide lost ships.

Alright, here's my card!

Alakazam Lv.66 110HP [P]
Stage 2: evolves from Kadabra

Poke-power: Telekinesis
Once during your turn, before you attack, you may use this power. Your opponent chooses one of their benched pokemon, either switch the chosen pokemon with your opponent’s active pokemon or prevent all effects of poke-powers, poke-bodies, and attacks (Including damage) on the chosen pokemon until the end of the turn.

[P] Psy-mirror
If Alakazam is damaged by an attack during your opponent’s next turn, put that many damage counters on the defending pokemon.

[P][P][C] Power Blast 60
Your opponent chooses two of their pokemon; this attack does 20 damage to each of the chosen pokemon and Alakazam can use the effects of their poke-powers as the effect of this attack.

W–[P] +30

RC- [C][C]

Mew G Lv. 33 90HP
(P) Basic
SP; Team Galactic's Pokémon

PokéBody Ancient Memories
As long as Mew G is your Active Pokémon, no more Evolution cards can be played.

(C)(C)(C) Psychic Connection
Look at your opponent's hand. If your opponent's Bench isn't full, choose 1 Evolved Pokémon from your opponent's hand, and play it onto his or her Bench as a Basic Pokémon. Then, choose an attack or PokéPower on that Pokémon. Psychic Connection copies all effects of that attack or PokéPower except for its Energy cost. (You must still do anything else required for that attack or PokéPower.)

Weakness (P)x2 Resistance 0 Retreat Cost (C)

Mewtwo Lv.24 80HP

Basic Pokémon

PokéBody: Mutation Aura.
As long as Mewtwo is your active Pokémon any player can evolve Pokémon he or she has just played.

[P][P] Psychic Control
Select 1 Pokémon on your bench with enough Energy cards attached to it to use one of its attacks. Mewtwo uses 1 attack that pokemon has enough energy attached to it to use,

Alright team, this time we have a new challenge! A fitness challenge!

Welcome to ROUND ONE Pokemon CAC'S EXECUTIVE APPRENTICE.

Say you have been contracted by a Health causes organization of some sort. They want to go to schools and teach children that smoking, eating poorly, drinking, illegal drugs, etc, are all poor choices. The get kids' attention, they want a promotional card to hand out to children who write a Pledge to stay healthy and active. The cards will be available secondarily by making a small donation to any League Leader or over the web. All proceeds in those cases would go to hospitals for children. Both teams will attempt to make cards representing this cause. Make the card, prove a picture or picture description and some health tip Fkavor text, unless it's a trainer, and don't do anything silly, like a Toothpaste trainer. Remember, you are promoting good health to children! The cards do not need to be bad or simple, and I do not encourage that.

Here is the grading rubric for this round.

CARD MECHANICS AND CONCEPT [30/30] How good is the concept of the card? Is it original, or does it fit in with the Pokemon usual role?
CARD EXECUTION AND BALANCE [20/20] Is the card too strong? Too weak? Is the concept executed well?
FLAVOR AND PICTURE [20/20] Is the style of the card consistant with the Pokemon, Trainer, item, etc,? Is the picture and flavor interesting and descriptive?
GRAMMAR AND SPELLING [15/15] Is the grammar and spelling proper? Are ophrase worded as they are supposed to be?
JOB CONSISTENCY [15/15] Does this card fit the assignment?

20 points will be subtracted individually for late submissions. Minus 10 points across the board for a lack of teamwork in your thread.

You will be graded by both me and NidoPrince. The losing team will meet us in this topic, where one of your team will be fired. The winning team with receive an in game power and another prize. Good luck.

YOUR CARDS ARE DUE BY MAY 16.

YOUR CARDS ARE DUE BY MAY 16.
Restated for emphasis!

First a few ground rules.

1. The cards shall not suck
2. The cards shall not emphasize health too much (Health shouldn't be made a big deal, instead it should be natually in the card.)
3. All of our cards shall follow a theme, any cards outside the theme will be frowned upon.

Alright, we can go about this in a few different ways, the first is to attempt to have 'healthy eating' pokemon like Tropius, Miltank, ect.

Or we could have an 'Exercise' theme, implementing fighting type Pokemon in order to show fitness, exercise, ect. Lucario, Machamp, ect.

We could have a 'negitive effect' type theme, based on pokemon like Snorelax, Wheezing, ect. in order to show the effects of smoking, unhealthy eating and exercise, ect.

and finally, the last thing I can think of, is a 'positive effect' type theme, showing Machamp (For strength,) Chancey (For health,) Raichu (For agility,) ect.

So, I want each of you to comment, add in your ideas, ect. before the 10th, when the final theme will be chosen. The cards will then be made by each of us, one card each, and will be turned in by the 16th.

Alright team, lets do this! :thumb:

Maybe we could each make a different theme? Variety would probably be a good thing...
