Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Texas State Championship...March 20, 2010

Congratulations demarcus. My apologies if i misspelled your name :) i'm glad a DFW area player won. i was wanting to battle you but fell in top eight :) haha not too bad for myself considering last year at states i finished in the bottom quarter. (hope i did you proud this year Danny :) i owe it all to you, and Adrian as well) but again, congrats go to the big man, hope we can battle someday in the near future.

My point here is that you should have NEVER been put in the tournament if you wanted to put smiles on the players faces, and I'm sure you did, thank you very much.

IF that was your purpose for being there AND you yourself admitted in front of 5 people that you didn't sign up to play AND gave no one permission to add you to the tournament, then why was your name on my match slip?

And by the way, EXCELLENT job on the mats and buttons. Thank you for being there for the kids.

I'm pretty sure what happened was I pre-regged when States info was announced, but forgot to notify that I wasn't playing and ended up on the list anyway. Oops. It was only my k-rating that took a hit anyway

Funny, I was told your deck list was your registration. This is exactly why I don't like preregistration, it can screw things up.

Imagine how upset I'd been If I had a better record and missed top cut because of your no show & drop?

Exactly, it could have been much worse than it ended up being. But everything worked out okay in the end

Yes, thankfully it did. I guess the reason I'm pushing this is because I'm a PTO and see this much differently than you do. I see the major damage it could have caused and you're sitting there drawing pictures!

Pokemon is love. Love makes the world go round. Therefore, pokemon makes the world go round. Thanks to all the people who put the Texas States pokemon tournament together. It was fun and exciting. C'mon, a little controversy, it keeps the pokemon fire alive.

I never stated I didn't care about the tournament. I cared enough to submit a decklist so I could be properly dropped out after my mistake of being left in the roster, and I cared enough to stay behind until the Masters were done playing in order to see how it turned out.

Please, don't for a minute think that just because I do not play in every tournament that I show up to that I don't care about what happens in it. Yeah, I made a mistake, and I took care of it as best I was able to. Is there anything I can do to make it up? It seems to be a point of contention right now, and the last thing I want is for people to be angry over a mistake I made.

Everyone contributes to the game of pokemon in their own manner. Some play so that the game remains alive. Others judge to keep the integrity alive. Phillip found his own way of contributing to the game. Yes, he may have hurt one (potentially), but I saw hundreds happy about his contribution to the game. You don't always play to contribute.

PS: That mat is so SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Thanks Phillip. I hope to see more of your creations :thumb:

And that ONE person could have been YOU. How ya like those happy faces now? A few happy faces instead of you making top cut and winning States.

I'm going to make one more comment on this.

I'm not angry about the actual drop (I understand drops and I've dropped before), I'm angry about the way it happened. He made it very clear to me that he had no intentions of playing, he didn't sign up, he didn't fill out a deck list AND he didn't give anyone permission to enter him into the tournament. Now, if ALL of this is the case, then I shouldn't be mad at him, but he's the one coming on here and making excuses about not playing. Let's get real here, who "forgets" that he preregistered for a state tournament? Who has to fill out a deck list in order to be dropped properly?

He's right about one thing, luckily nothing happened, this time.

Er, that would be me, actually. I had sent Birch an email in February confirming my pre-registration for States, but decided in the interim to not play. I would have probably forgotten all about it until you had brought it up. If you like, I can forward you the email I sent to Birch with my pre-reg.

Again I apologize, it's nobody's fault but mine. Any beef you have is going to be solely with me. If you want to work something out, give me a PM and hopefully we can settle this amicably. For now though, I want to give the thread back to people who want to discuss more important events at States.

My first tournament ever. It was fun, I went 1/6, so I'm happy I won at least once.

Ugh, beaten my 3 Speedrills. I'm afraid to even look at a weedle now:frown:

Btw, is it possible for someone to post a picture of the playmats? I actually did not seen them, and judging by the comments, they look really good. So if anyone can post a picture, that would be great. Thanks.:thumb:

i know that was dumb but you probably have never been game lossed by the same judge 3 times especially when your the one that calls him you would think the same way and i do know english but who do i have to impress. U? n e wayz this convo. ended

Wow... the intelligence of your argument impresses us all...good job.

My seven year old one his first game at the Texas State Pokemon tournament. He was so excited. Then this girl gave him a pokemon button to celebrate. He thought the whole world was celebrating with him. All three of my kids had a great time, helped along by all the wonderful people in the pokemon world. Kudos to everyone who worked on making the Texas State Tournament such a memorable time for us. I can only hope Regionals is such a success.

if that was sincere thanx. if not its ok i just dont ever want this or that to happen again. it really makes you feel like crap. and really i just want the next tourny to hurry up and come so i can win it like i was supposed to at states 5-1 and getting kick out man thats a stinker but just learn from your mistakes and go on. Regionals here we come SA

Pre-registration is a neat thing to offer, if done correctly. When you pre-register to fly on a plane, you still need to report on the departure date to verify your seat; otherwise, you're dropped.

So, who's fault was it that poinko wasn't dropped before the first round? If he didn't check in during registration, I won't put the blame on him.

PTOs need to take a bit of responsibility too when they offer pre-registration.

BTW, Birch is an outstanding PTO. Pre-registration is not documented in the Tournament Operations Procedures, so he probably just didn't consider no-shows, or just MAYBE, he chose to give them a first round match loss, THEN drop them. If the latter was indeed Birch's choice, then perhaps your beef is with him.

Lol I was looking at my rating for this year and was apalled. I've been to one event (Texas States), and I'm already at 1716.44, 11th in Texas. :p

116.44 ranking points in 1 tourney? Wow! o_O

GJ Milan, you're a great player and transitioned into MA well.

Hope to see/play you at future events. Always liked your deckbuilding as well. If you wanna work on anything for Regionals, lmk.
