The Archetypes of This New Season Will Be....

I think GatrQueen will be much better than people are giving it credit for. Still very consistent without the holon engine thanks to nidoqueen, and its list is so flexible to be teched. I see it being in the same mold as R-gon from last season, only damage instead of energy acceleration.

YES I AGREE!!!!!!!
truly Feraligatr d is a VERY good card this format =]
ill be playing it =] =] =]

I dont know why anyone would post a deck that isnt well known and might be an arch before the season begins.

JMO,
Drew

Well anybody posts decks because if the ranking still on all want to start the season with good ranking, and for other reason if you have a win deck, you will tell to anybody? Come on, see the reality. So for that i starts this topic, maybe anyboby will pass a list, but we will know some ideas. Seeya and good job in your last grinder!

I tested against a list you made and to tell you the truth. I was very slow and it lost against gardevoir, bannette flygon, and catty ex

First off, you don't have my exact list, I didn't post it card for card. This deck sets up t3-t4, which is not slow. If you are refering to gardy ex, it won't see much play, and catty ex = easy 2 prizes.
What bannette flygon deck are you talking about? I don't know any.

I heard Eric Craig can turn hurricanes into sunny days.

Not this one.

Fear the Hurricane, for it will destroy all who oppose it.

I cant see stage 2 decks being very good. Too hard to setup without the Holon Engine, and no way to draw into Windstorm with the reduced draw (trans for Sci/Adv)

Yeah, I agree with Chuck -- Stage 2 decks are going to have to find a new engine, and it can't be something that takes forever to set up. The consistancy just isn't there. OTOH, there are several good stage 1s.

I happen to have DarthPika's 'Hurricane' decklist.

I'm not going to reveal any cards in it, but it most certainly does not do 100 T4. Gatr may not even be out by T4.

There is...

Mario
Electivire
Empoleon varients
Kriketune
Dodrio varients
Raichu varients

...and much more

Isn't this the 9001st thread about this exact topic?
=/

yeap, the good deck that will break/switch the format aren't even being mentioned and these threads are helping those decks out. By mentioning what will be popular you put a target on those deck's backs and a few decks will be made to shoot those targets down.

I expect the format to chance within a month after it starting after the good SDs are revealed by the top players.

What is good and consistent will still be played which is:
Lucario variants
InferCatty
Empoleon variants
Like mentioned before a hand disruption deck with TGW.
SD
SD
SD
other good deck that are Tier 3 or lower.

Stage 2 decks look like they can be consistent in setup, but the setup is about a turn or 2 slower this generation than last. Scott helps, but most of them are played too tight right now. We don't have Pidgeot or Transceiver to save us anymore. Stage 2 decks will, by necessity, have to be simple decks. At most 2 stage 2s, one of which will likely have to be Nidoqueen, or a Stage 2 and 1-2 Stage 1s. I'm playing my Flygon deck as the former, and it's delightfully consistent, but rarely gets its full setup until turn 3 or 4.

Uggghh people have the wrong idea about Gatr entirely. Its SUCH a good card, but all these Delcatty/Magneton ideas etc, its such a waste.

I love it how people think there's SO many viable decks, there's usually only like 3, 4 at most good decks at any one time. Most decks are simply worse/have more bad matchups against the rest of the field, you can't just pick up some half-decent card and make a competitive deck out of it. Doesn't work that way.

I'm curious to see what people bring to battle roads. Not that anyone is going to be whipping out some fancy SD to get a victory medal, but...

Dom, how would you use Gatr? I am working on Gatr right now and its going really well, it really is a very good deck. I expect to see more Infercatty then anything, Gatr is going to make some appearances, but I don't expect many Kricketune decks.

He hit it, but it's obvious from this list that not everyone has considered ALL the options and just followed wherever the hype took them.

Im also interested in what I'll see at BR's. And knowing the players here in AZ, I wouldn't be surprised if they went ahead and revealed all their top notch SD's right away. I'm just gonna run an Infernape list, or maybe Megs if I can make her faster some how. Ambipom/Honchkrow has been tested for me as well, and it's looking nice.

Another thing that's gonna be so crucial to this format is the engines used, there's no obvious uniform engine at the moment and it will be important to see how people adapt to the lack of Holon. No point playing some big powerful S2 if you can't get it out.

Prediction: Absol Ex will remain VERY big this season.
