A cellphone is more popular than everything, everywhere. Loll. I know, I'm not saying POP is doing anything wrong. I just didn't know that they know the trouble we're facing here.

=O i played this Malaysian kid at 2 different worlds, both times it was very fun. I hope you guys can get everything settled.

The idea of starting leagues and such at schools seems like a good idea. Have you ever tried asking someone to judge VS. waiting for them to come to you? Maybe if you could talk to like 5 people and have them alternate judging on events, but right now if you only have 2... that won't help much.

Are you one of those 2 TO's?

Are you sure there are no Malaysian professors? I'm not sure if he plays anymore, but flyboy_87 is (was?) a Professor?

i'm surprised malaysia still supporting pokemon and still quite stable where singapore's pokemon game is purely dead....

Situation in singapore

Hey hi,

I am jimmy, repesentative of singapore in 2007 and now one of the few remaining players in singapore. The situation here is even worse than singapore. There are a handful of us wanting to play but there is currently zero activities for us to participate in. Also, we really wished to participate in nationals but the distributors arent willing to hold it. Me and a group of dedicated players have been trying to get the rights to hold it but the distributors comics mart and POP hasnt been replying and this matter has dragged on for like forever. If possible, i hope we could participate in Malaysia activities and perhaps e nationals, there are also a few professors here in singapore that would be glad to help out in Malaysia events.

Singapore is a small country. Also with the status there ATM, it's even harder for people to play there. Organizing events will result in money loss. How are you guys going to help us? Isn't a trip back and forth going to cost?

The reason that so little people are playing because there are no events here at all. It is a small country, but that doesnt mean we dont have any players. Singapore is actually really close and all it takes is to drive up? Cost will probably be petrol fee? Not much to worry about'? Preciesly also because there is no events here, we hope to build up by allowing us to take part in the events you all have first.

KaMewie, you have my sympathies and I'm sure you have the sympathy of other players. I hope it works out for you. I think it's obvious though that some of the 'players' need to turn to 'Professors' and start running/TOing events... the more events that there are, the more demand for cards and who knows perhaps by working alongside your LD in running these events things will start to improve.

You're lucky that PUI has acknowledged the issue.. I'm sure things will change once you get organised. But you will need to step up to the plate if you want change. Someone has to judge, you know.

how can you ask for *more* premier events when, as you've stated yourself, you don't have any qualified judges for them?

if no one is even willing to become a professor in order to assure the events you already HAVE are judged correctly, just what is POP supposed to do? keep holding events...and adding MORE events?...that are quite possibly corrupt, with cheaters 'winning'? how will that 'grow' OP in your country?

i'm not sure what you want POP to do, nor people on the 'gym; if all those in the player community there are people who want to play but are waiting for 'someone else' to do the work of ensuring the events are run correctly then there's not much anyone can do for you.

OP here in the US would not be what it is without the people who step up and give back to the game as professors, league leaders, judges, TOs and PTOs; if people there aren't willing to do the same then i don't know what to say...=/

jmho.
'mom

Crap answer. MOM, you are always on the side against a person or people reaching out for help. Dave has already acknowledged there is a problem and he will do the best he can for that area. I applaud Dave and POP for coming forward in this forum to express their understanding of the situation and that they are looking into it.
In the meantime, why not give those people ideas on how to get organized, become Professors, learn the rules and start holding their own "local tournaments", if for practice if nothing else. It is apparant that they they want POP to step in and HELP their situation, in any way they can. Maybe these are kids, and are underage to become Professors. I don't know. But with all your knowledge and wisdom in Pokemon, I am disappointed that you continue to tear down players that are reaching out for help and probably have no idea how to help themselves. Instead, shoot them some encouraging advice and point them in some fashionable direction and leave it at that.
Every one can criticize, but sometimes a little praise can be the solution.

Oh, Beatlerat....

Hate to tell you, but 'mom does more in her community for Pokemon that most people, myself included, will ever do.

'mom is just becoming frustrated, as many of us are, of the attitude that people want things handed to them, and don't want to put the work in themselves.

The US, and several other parts of the world are LUCKY to have dedicated people willing to step up and run events for you.

The post did come off as, we need more OP, not "I'm willing to stop playing, how can I help run OP"

Once you get into the OP side, your life as a player is about over.

The work done on the organizer side is more than most people ever realize.

The worst part is, once you start doing, people always expect you to be able to do more and more.

If the person was wanting to step up, 'mom, I, or a number of people would have encouraged them to e-mail organized play, and see who op could get them in contact with.

You might also want to consider if your response was sexist, beatlerat.
I answered first and with a similar answer to 'mom, and yet it was her answer that you found upsetting.
Interesting.

From what i seen, there aren't many grow up who are playing pokemon in malaysia. So, can't expect to have many judges around here. Anyway, for your info, I will be judging for the upcoming national championship in malaysia.
