No offense taken. But our lists were FAR from identical. You played claydol didn't you??

I didn't.

I played 4 cess. crystal and 4 castaway, pretty sure you didn't( but can't remember).
But my cess.'s gave you ( and everyone else I played) fits. Slowed down your ability to
get set, by design. I 5-1 ed g/g that weekend, losing in t-16 to mirror.

Put the time in pika, playtest and think " out of the box" a little more. You'll get the
results your looking for ;)

John

Hmm... mine was different but, also very different from most Empozong. I ran 4 cess, 4 wager 2-2 claydol (strat was to cess a benched emp, wager if i lost clay then put out emp attack pwn ;) ). My build didnt actually really need powers to work, I just had a lousy battle against you. :p

Didn't mean to hijack the thread here, just wanted to answer that one post. Back on topic now.

Pokemon is a dirty game because of time limits -- let's hope it works out better this year. Geo, the frustration expressed in your post highlights how broken and complex this part of the game can be, and I'm sure you weren't directing any personal attacks.

props on some remarkable finishes this year.

Well as fun as ALL this was to read I have to say I personally know Gino back from nats 2 years ago where we made a trade earlyer in the year for medicham ex's and his stuff got stolen so he couldnt send me the cards I needed since I sent first so many months later he repaid me with half a box of PK where I luckly pulled 2 EX's and one * LOL I now see him as one of the best players around and a very lighthearted fun guy to hang out with. I see how his joking manner is and for what alot of people see as arrogance is just being funny for him. Im pround of his accompishments this year and maybe he"ll just play a game or 2 with me to help get my play level up. GJ this year Gino Holla at cha boy!

Team UG And Hot Tie FTW Baby!!!

Without Gardevoir time should be less of an issue.

This is somewhat untrue, I remember in previous seasons time always was said to have made Electrode ex/pow/admin lock decks weaker choices
Empoleon variants were also disadvantaged by shorter time limits.

But, yes, Gardevoir was the main problem

I certainly understand your situation DARTHPIKA. I call them players of LEGACY or ELITE because
they play the same decks as we do.(For the most part) They use the same trainers(For the most part)
but if you think that a MASTER like SILVESTRO isn't going to think of something to slide into that
concept deck to make it his own?? To think outside the box?? Think about this...Jolteon * in PLOX
was a great addition. That is why I say that these guys are Elite. Taking the basic premise and testing
against everything out there. Then making slight changes that will keep every opponent on their toes.
Oh, Breloom in PLOX helped someone as well. I will say once again, I hope some of this rubs off on
my kid!
One other thing, I'm not sure who is bashing you for your decisions but I'm sure that it's not any
of these guys and probably no one that you should be concerned with anyhow.

So when i added Muk SW to G&G 2-3 months ago, that made me an ELITE player?

Um...

It takes more than coming up with amazing techs, you have to win with them. I thought of Jolteon* in Gardevoir before Worlds (I ended up playing Absol Ex) but Jason won with it who do you think is going to get the credit.

Somewhere I thought this topic was regarding Gino's report, not what Ness played.

Back on topic please.

It was brought up what makes an elite player since some people say Gino is an elite player and others says he is not. My post was refering to that not only you have to come up with ways to beat the metagame but you also have to win with them. Such as Gino with Muk, since I didn't come up with Muk or even tried it, I used an example of my own which mentioned Jolteon* since this was tech I did try. So how was it off topic?

Gino: Sorry for the slow play stuff, I think the whole slow play thing was overdone being that there was a lot of slow play at nationals, (and not just your game loss either).

i think the whole Elite/Non Elite argument is a little pointless, as its a little hard to say who's an elite and who's not..

but if we're going to go there, then Gino gets YES in my vote fo shizzle ma nizz.
GINO YOU'Z a BEAST.. lol
Congrats on your great playing this year dude,
and sweet tourney report.

catcha later..

Muk was used in the northeast since it came out, even in and out of GG, and has been on people's minds for a while. Even the night before worlds it was one of the "buzz techs".

Gino,
I'm glad you proved yourself to everyone with your top 4 performance. I am glad i could be there to see that and give you the proper props. I told you not sleeping would cause you to almost lose worlds. I'm glad you dident but this should be a lesson to learn for next year.

I cant wait till next worlds when i get to see you go for it once more time and this time take your rightful spot in 1st

Great Job this year and best of luck in the following leauge year.

Also you have all the right to challenge the judges calls. It was told all weekend that the judges were not calling things right. They are picked from the best in the game but its hard not to dispute what happened.

I hope next year changes and things get as little better in the main field.

Bad judge calls sure have changed over the years.
Bad judge calls used to be a judge saying a card couldn't do something that it could or applying an effect wrong.

Now, bad judge calls seem to be how did the judge fix the sloppy play of the players; did they clean it up "right".

Nice to only have that as examples of "bad calls".

This kind of stuff is why I have avoided this board for basically my whole life.

Forgive me if I seem disrespectful, but the fact that you can attack someone for being "off topic" when they aren't even off topic is ridiculous. What harm could POSSIBLY COME from Jay's post? (The fact that it pertains to me is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with why I'm upset.) If you truly, actually believe you have to scold someone for being mildly "off-topic" to prevent some chain reaction catastrophe from ruining this thread you are delusional.

Even if Jay's post IS mildly offtopic (it isn't), what harm could possibly come discussing a relevant subtopic?

First you threaten to unnecessarily lock a great thread for discussing what is relevant and then you tell people to stay "on topic" when they drift to a different aspect of the thread?

If I keep seeing these ridiculous unnecessary interrupts from moderators, I will not post on this board. It's one thing to make sure people aren't using inappropriate language or posting spam. But you're creating a hostile environment where people are actually going to be nervous about anything they post. I bet if you asked everyone who posts on this board, half of the people who post would tell you they actually are uncomfortable posting almost anything for fear of criticism. Is that what you're going for? The posters here show a lot of respect to the moderators. The moderators should also show some respect to the players.

Let the people post. Geez.

NOW we're officially off-topic. Feel free to scold me, now.

All Hail Ness and Andropeteywhatever thumb's down.

:lol:So tell me Jason. Did you decide to use the other guys' idea to use Jolteon* or did
he mention it to you? LoL:lol:

I don't know exactly how many tech's you tried...or How long you tested using each of the ideas
but I read what Gino has written about your match...the PROPS that he has given to you and
for you to rise to the occasion and become "The Champ that beat the Champ!" and a two time
World Champion as well as the other tournaments you have won or contended in cause me to
call you one of POKEMON TCG'S Elite.

I truly hope you don't take offense to that. I also hope you don't take offense to me hoping that
MY SON will one day have the prowess and ability to make the right decisions as you have...as well
as Sniper Silvestro, J. Ballard and now after his last few years of contending for the big dances...Gino

I respect all of your efforts. Let me be a fan.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

So when i added Muk SW to G&G 2-3 months ago, that made me an ELITE player?

Um...

Are you kidding me LOL. Oh that's right. You are a fan of Tom Roos. The guy that used the Italians
deck to win World's.
Please, don't use sarcasm with me. I am making a legitimate statement and have explained many
times why they deserve that honor.

Gino wasn't the only player running Muk. Muk is a very good, strong card because of how it works in the mirror. If you promote a Gardevoir with a DRE/Scramble after a knockout, it takes 10. (100 HP).

After your attack, 10 more. (90 HP).

Now it gets Psychic Locked (usually with a DRE 60 - 10 = 50 + 30 (Weakness) = 80)) and the final 10 damage from poison KO's the Gardevoir.

The key is to not taking the INITIAL damage when you promote it - either promote something else, or try to make sure Scramble won't be activated the turn you promote it - that way it's a 2 hit KO regardless.

I know AJ S. also ran Muk in his Gallade/Furret/Pidgeot d deck.

Jolteon* is an idea that came from none other than Chris Fulop. (Most weird tech ideas stem from him.) I had been playing Jolteon for months. I also ran it all last year in the last format with Banette ex.

Elite players...Elite ideas!!

Thanks for the insight. It was good of you to do. So, how about a trip down
to South Florida. Since you won here, maybe you can visit the 200 plus kids
and parents in my leagues?
Thanks again, Jason!! Congrats!:thumb:
