Well once you are able to wrap your mind around the fact that the main character is unaware of the fact that she has become a/the God of the universe and has power over all creation. Its is actually fairly enjoyable and very silly show.

Amazing show. Gotta find it again. It's just weird enough but not too weird, and the characters really make the show work.

Haruhi is much less random than Pani Poni Dash. They're not really anything alike. For one, Haruhi is produced by the trolls at Kyoto Animation, while Pani Poni Dash was produced by the awesome SHAFT.
