The New Metagame (Updated!)

Great article man! Fun thing about a metagame is you can't include every card cobination right?
:smile: But you are right, so many options, anything can win. Rotating out DRE and Scramble means
that there will no longer be 1 'best' way to play this game. It's just a big game of chance now. You
decide to go with AMU, you'll own a lot of stuff, but get owned by Luxray and probobly Kingdra as well.
You go with Kingdra, you'll get owned by luxray, you pick Luxray, you'll get owned by Gliscor, Rypherior,
groudon, armaldo. You just have to pick what you think you'll face the least, hope you don't get matched
up against it, and if you do...FIGHT LIKE THERES NO TOMMAROW! I'm glad that DRE and Scramble are
gone, now the metagame is FUN!

lol why do people think luxray beats kingdra yes it does sometimes but kingdra is just way to fast i have won portland battle roads and took second at eugene battle roads and i did all of it with kingdra ya out of all of it i lost one round to luxray cause i had bad start but every other game i played against the deck they lost i played some kid from portland top 4 he ran luxray and i beat him then. top four in eugene i played clint's luxray and beat it i do not see why kingdra loses maybe you guys just beat really bad versions of kingdra but a good one should win. but thats just my opinion

Rogue Decks?? Everything is rogue really,their is too many strategies for it to be rogue,everything else hasnt won a cities or states,its only been BRs,so really its a rogue metagame like 06-07.

Yes, of course you do. Our primary weapon is fear...fear and surprise. Our two main weapons are fear, surprise...and ruthlessness.

Now that we have a good idea of what the metagame actually looks like, I have updated the article to more accuratley reflect that.

Froslass is a deck of its own and is more Tier 1 than Toterra and AMU,but thats just my opinion,kingdra and MAU win because of the mass use of the decks.
 
Torterra also works very well with Leafeon. I never liked the whole two stage two decks, and I never thought of Sceptile as much of an attacker. Leafeon is able to hit for large amounts of damage, and guard itself when needed. Plus, with Espeon on the field, Leafy is now a 130 HP powerhouse.
 
Great article. Except, near the end, caurse should be course. Sorry I'm picky but it's still a great article.

I've seriously been waiting for somebody to point that out since day one.

Excellent updates, although there are far too many decks in the second Tier; a third Tier should definately be established.
 
You forgot Teir 3, which includes:
Garchomp
Gliscor
Blissey
GG
Skittles/Any deck that uses Togekiss for energy accel.

Also, spread for Teir 1, come on now, have long have we been playing this game? It's clear that spread has been/always will be, TEIR ONE.

Hey, that was a great article. I went to the worlds in 06 but haven't been doing much since so this article was a HUGE help to me in getting back into things. I really wanna get back into pokemon this year since it's my last year before I'm in the master devision but I need to find a deck since the last time I made a deck was back when we had EXs. Anyway Keep writing!!!
