Welcome to the Obligatory Gimmick SSBB Tournament!

It's Pokegyms 10th tournament, so we've had some pretty solid success so far. So what's so different with this one than most other tournaments? Well, the word Random is a small key here.

Each round, players will be given a team of 3 different characters to use in the round. The way to win their match is to beat their opponent with each character. Example: Chompy (Kirby, Luigi, Pikachu) vs. DarthPika (Wolf, Jigglypuff, Mario) is a match for the round. Chompy would have to defeat DarthPika with Kirby, Luigi, and Pikachu in order to advance to the next round. Assuming Chompy wins and advances to round two, his next match could be: Chompy (Zelda, Peach, King Dedede) vs. Vaporeon (Ganondorf, Bowser, Kirby). Chompy would have to win with his new team to advance into R3. Repeat. Oh, I did forget to mention that teams will be revealed publically? Yeah. They are. Forgot :)

•Double Elimination
•Excessive stalling (MK cape stall, sonic under stage stall etc) is grounds for a forfeit of the game. However, you can plank as long as you want.
•Ice Climbers infinite is NOT BANNED
•Bowser/kirby/ddd/wario/ganon suicide kills ALWAYS RESULTS IN A VICTORY FOR THE PERSON WHO INITIATED THE SUICIDE

Can we choose our own teams....or at least ONE (1) character on the team....you know exactly who I want on my team lol.
 
I'm willing to give this a shot. But one thing I don't understand is, how will the rounds be played out. To give an example, if it's Thunder (Diddy Kong, King Dedede, Snake) vs. Chompy (Kirby, Jigglypuff, Mario), will it be played out like Diddy Kong vs. Kirby, then King Dedede vs. Jigglypuff, and then Snake vs. Mario? And if so, what happens in the case of a 2/1 win/loss record? I'm a bit confused...

Yes, but the teams will balance themselves out. In other words, you would wind up getting a team like Metaknight, Captain Falcon, Ike, or something like that.



Yes and no. It depends on where you live and how far away your connection is from your opponent.

I choose them randomly for you guys and they will be posted in public, so your opponents can check if your using the right characters or not. Yes I do.... Yes I do know exactly who you want xD. I could either be nice and give you the best characters if im in a good mood, or I could give you the worst characters if im in a bad bood xD.

Okay, the procedure will go like this


Round 1: Thunder (Diddy Kong, King DeDeDe, Snake) VS Chompy (Kirby, Jigglypuff, Mario)

Game 1: Thunder (King DeDeDe) VS Chompy chooses (Kirby)

Game 2:; Thunder (Snake) VS Chompy (Mario)

Game 3: Thunder (Diddy Kong) VS Chompy (Jigglypuff)

The characters don't have to be in any specific order, but you only use these characters ONCE PER MATCH. In other words, you can use King D3 Game 1, but you can't use King D3 in Game 3.

So basically, you play three games against your opponent, and each time you use one of your characters, but each one only once. Then, next round you get to choose from a new 3 characters.

But you say that we have to defeat the opponent with "each character". Does that mean if I win the first two games against the same opponent, but lose the third, neither one of us win? Or is it best 2 out of 3? I assume it's 2 of 3, but it's a bit confusing.

Exactly!

It's basically best of 3. Who ever wins 2 games out of 3 is the winner.

Want to get me C. Falcon, Peach, and Wolf? lolz. I'm thinking of joining, but I haven't played SSBB in about 3 weeks. (School work then TvC came out :|).
 
Count me in! I like the creative thinking that set this tournament up. I recomend each player selects one characters they are familiar with.

It's double elimination and everyone gets paired up. I have your code in the game, but it doesn't show what your FC is. If you can post it here or put it in your signature. That would be great!

The DEADLINE will be Tuesday 12:00 AM CST.

If we don't get all 16 spots filled, we will have to just play with what we got. More people can join as the tournament. goes on
