The older player in a match should have the option to play first or second.

I’ve been a part of this game for a long time both as a judge and this year as a player, personally I believe this game is skewed to the younger player and that just doesn’t seem fair to me. So I propose that the older player in any match should at the start of the game after looking at their hand of course decide who gets to go 1st. Let me explain I mean I’m not getting any younger and I need every advantage I can get. My brain is all used up I’ve been a high caliper judge for so long that how can you expect me to be able to actually play this game well. On that note I’m really sick of people younger than me thinking they actually know more than me come on I’m older I win by default. Now on the rare instance when someone is older than me I will yield to their agedness let them decide who goes 1st which would only be fair.

idk i dont think it would be that hard for fifteen and up because they could just show drivers licenses right?

i think it is a good idea that removes the luck of the opening flip. also no one complains about 'fair' coins and such

I'm surprized that all of these joke threads don't get people banned.

Seriously. First we have reglar users jokin' around, and now we have BLiZzArD doing it.

but people could lie and say they are older
BAD SOTG but people would do it

Well obviously when you register for the event you have to put your age down on the deck list it would be a simple matter of proof needed. Then all that would would need to be down is a small tweak to TOM and the pairing slips could have your age printed on them. Of course there might be some errors but this is a growth sector of the game none of you are getting any younger so in my opinion it is worth the effort.

I like this rule. My only concern is people lying about their age. Obviously, people will need to carry some kind of ID/birth certificate with them to present at the beginning of a match.

Ken- How about getting to draw a prize card for every ten years you have on the opponent as well at the start?? LOL Lot easier to take 3 than 6.

Has the gym gone insane in the past few days? That ban on jpn cards must really be going to peoples heads... lol

I think it could work; it'd just be changing the match slip format to include the birth date which would be easy since it's registered to your POP ID/division information, correct?

Ummm... it's not still April 1st, is it?

Do you have any idea what this would do, particularly to the younger divisions? How many Juniors do you see at the top tables who aren't 10 or 11? How many 11-year-old Seniors do you see winning events? And people consider quitting when they turn 15 as it is! You seem to be thinking in terms of 35+, but did you really not look at the bigger picture?

Blizz,

You need a second "tie breaker" to keep it all fair.
I think the year of birth should be the first tie breaker,

The second one should be the amount of grey hair or in the case of men lack of it.

I'll be your evidence since I'll be turning 15 in May, seriously I do NOT have a chance in masters; at least it's only 3 years until I can become a judge... Right?!? RIGHT!?!?

To be more on-topic
I find this to be a ridiculous idea, there's no way POP/PUSA would do this anyways.

As an "old man," I like this proposal. I've got everyone beat in my Region.

Is anyone else out there 50+?

What if you have the same birthday?
There are people here that would totally use that to their advantage.
yeah I play ma champ I win if I go second.

people its after 04/01 already this is getting really old really fast.

While there ARE a lot of players, the occurrence of this situation OFTEN is highly unlikely, but can be fixed by making the rule as simple as this: When opponents share the same birth date documented on their match slips, flip a coin. Heads assumes the role of "older opponent", and is in charge of the decision.

^ Perfect solution, I see no flaws. I think this is a great decision that would better the game. Seems less luck based for me, personally.
