I just ordered 1 Dark explorers box and 1 Next Destinies box., and am really looking forward to them. I thought now would be a good time for a new deck. I honestly dont know the pokemon from the expansions too well, but Im looking for something new. Not a Zekeels, Not a Reshiboar, and Certainly not a Darkrai+ Tornadus (dont know the cute name for that one). My goal is to make a deck out of some of he stronger evolution cards. I've already opened up some DE packs, so heres what I have that I like so far:

Volarona (Bringing on the Burn)
Empoleon (great attack and ability) and i think some people use this
Blaizeken (so much powerrrr)
Venasaur (highly useful bench supporter)
Zoroark (DCE compatible attack using bench) some people use this too i think
Excadrill 56 (strong dicard pile digging attack keeps me from relying on junk arm)
Blissey (Healing mortal wounds from the bench)

So these are my favorite cards. Not saying they can compete with big strong cookie cutter decks, but I'd like to try.

ANy thoughts on these cards or others from Next Destinies?

I believe that excadrill made a top cut in spring br. Probably was very meta dependent, but it DOES hit for weakness on the top played decks and digs for discard fodder.Plus being a stage1 means much easier setup. I'd run with it.

If you have enough Dark Patches, then Zoroark is your best bet.

Otherwise, you can run Empoleon.

If you plan on winning or doing even remotely well at nats the you should be looking at Vileplume Reuniclus or Klingklang as your only real evolution options. Otherwise expect to stay in the lower tables. However if you are just playing for fun the go crazy and build whatever you want.

I think you have it backwards.

How does Klinklang work, anyway? Is it just Skarmory/Klinklang/Scizor/Cobalion, or am I missing something?

Klinklang works with Darkrai and other EX/BigBasicPokemon, with Rainbow and Prism Energy. You rotate attackers(darkrai gives them free retreat, klinklang moves the energy) and try to hit for weakness or set up multiple KOs. When your attacker gets damaged you move the energy and "heal" the damage with things like Seeker, SSU, Max Potion or Blissey Prime. Ideally, once you get set up, your opponent should not be taking prizes.

Has problems with energy disruption(Lost Remover, Crushing/Crashing Hammer, etc), and can have a weak early game, since you aren't attacking right away.

I top cut with Excadrill/Terrakion. It does really well when most of the decks are weak to fighting, but struggles a bit against things that heal or resist it. Dig Uppercut is fun to mess with your opponent, but you've got to be good at planning ahead so you know what you will need. I lost remover'd a Klinklang player's energy 7 times in one game, and ended the game with no junk arms in my discard pile.
