The Top 10 Most Greatest Decks

Well here it is, the official topic of the greatest decks in Pokemon Trading Card Game history.
(Hopefully this topic won't get locked if it's a poll)

Anyways, I want to find out by the players themselves what 10 decks were the greatest of all time. Now I'm not saying which ones could beat the other, like Raindance can easily beat a BAR. Just think of the decks that were the most played and most toughest to beat. Some possible candidates can be BAR, Raindance, Haymaker, Entei/Cargo, Scizor/Furret/Muk.

Hmmm. I figure there have been 4 Sanctioned Constructed formats, so I will take 2 from each of those, with two other decks mixed in. So here it is.

10. Raindance: A powerhouse back when the game came out, its still playable today i suppose with Waliren/Suicune ex. Energy Flow/pokemon center was a combo that used to drive me Crazy, eventually when Muk was released it lost power tho.

9. Scizor/Muk/Furret- This was one of the decks that I personally helped to break. It wasnt around very long, but eventually when skyridge was released became BROKEN with Oracle/Bill. Had very few weaknesses in Neo-On and was one of the top decks towards the end of that formats time.

8. Entei/Magcargo- This thing had the ability to dominate 2 Formats, at one point Rocket-On and then Neo-On. Oracle made it super nice towards the end of Neo-On, also being able to OHKO almost anything in the format broke it even more. IMO the best Neo-On deck.

7. Blaziken Variants: Its proved itself completely, but still has a bit more to prove aka MAJOR events. Blaziken seems to get better with every set that is released. BlazeEggs to Blaze-Ray to BAR- to Blaziken ex, it continually improves.

6. Wigglytuff: Do i even have to explain this. Jungle brought this beast into the world with Scyther. Scyther/Buzz/Chan/Wiggly was one of the most feared decks back in the day. It died a bit around the Gym Hero/Gym Challenge era but came back with neo and recycle energy. Then came back even better with Aquapolis and boost energy.

5. Typhlosion Variants- This deck worked in Unlimited, it worked in Rocket-On even tho it was weak to Feraligatr. The combination of him and Blaines Arcanine was nice! The deck disappeared in the beginning of Neo-On because of Kingdra but towards the end made a comeback with all of the Scizor running around, all in all one of my FAVORITE decks to ever play.

4. Crobat/Pichu/Murk/Chaos- Right when a format needed a shift of power it got it. Back when Crobat was released Feraligatr was DOMINATING everything, Crobat slowed down Ferals power completely. It provided weakness, it could work around Chaos Gym, it had pichu to destroy benches and Murkrow to lock up confused weak basics. The deck lost power in Neo-On and towards the end of rocket on when Dark Muk became the better choice, but still IMO if you could flip coins you could play crobat and consistantly win with it.

3. Sneasel: Sneasel with any thing EXCEPT slowking is basically what this one is for. Im not even going to explain.

2. Feraligatr: There is only one deck that has been more dominant than this one. I have seen it played in Unlimited, but its glory days were in Modified. Trash Exhcange/Mistys Wrath broke everything and Gatr won nearly every tournament it became involved in due to its COMPLETE consistancy. Went away in Neo-On till Juggler was released then two of my Fellow Michigan players and two of the best players of ALL TIME Matt Moss and Dylan Austin broke the thing again. Out of all the decks above Feraligatr won the most, and has had quite the run.

1. Sneasel/Slowking- Not even going to explain. The greatest deck of all time, except vs. Muk.

I think InSaNiTy deserves some slot in the top 10... it was truly a collaboration of some great strategic thinking and an unique deck structure.

Well, the Sneasel decks do not deserve a place in the list really. And, as I remember it was Slowking plus anything which can win at will in Unlimited. Anyone remember Slowking plus Donphan? Glad that times are gone. Nothing more boring and frustrating to play or watch that Slowking vs. Slowking.
In addition to Wiggly, the dominance of Hays variants prior to the short kingdom of Trap Decks is to be remember, just for old times sake.

This is about the most extreme greatest deck of all humanity ever created thread.

1. Sneasel/Slowking It's lonely at the top
2. Feraligatr, almost completely unbeatable, and it worked so well too.
3. Pre pokemon reversal Blaziken, after all of the hype, I can't help but put this in.
4. Trapper, another deck that threatened to dominate a format. Lock your opponent's hand first turn then beat. Then WOTC printed cleffa.
5. Haymaker, the first major archetype, nearly unbeatable early in the game.
6. Wigglytuff, I hear turn two 60 is good
7. Raindance, the first of many cards that let you play more than one energy a turn, got a huge boost when fossil came out, then it could have beaten all of the mr. mimes that came up against it.
8. Fast Fire/Encargo. Popular in two formats, a fast deck that could beat nearly anything if done correctly.
9. Slowking varients, neon worlds format. Ever wanted to make an okay card godly? Well this was ran with dark gatr, donphan, espeon, kingdra and almost anything else to destroy your opponent.
10. SMF, not the most broken deck ever made, but certainly one of the best.

Gardevior =/

Gardevior is not that good of a deck, TA's list summed it all up well, and so did Jedi's. Just combine both posts, and you got all teh ever made. Im sorry, but Gardy isn't one of them, its too overated and easily loses to blaziken.

If anyone cares..

1. King/Sneasel
2. Gatr
3. Sneasel Varients
4. Entei/Cargo
5. Typhlo Varients
6. Wiggly
7. Raindance
8. Blaziken
9. SMF
10. Haymaker

Nice Thread Idea BTW. Here is my top 10:

10 Raindance - At the time, raindance was a very good deck, and has evolved over the years to Pokemon Center, Energy Flow, etc. It is still very fun and hopefully we will see the resurgance with Blastoise ex.

9 Scizor/Muk/Furret - This won many major events and several players did very well with it espically Ness. It had a chance vs Cargo if you had starmie or mantine. Fun deck.

8 Blaziken - Even with Pokemon Reversal in the format now as a flip for a gust, Blaziken is still the best deck, hands down and will continue to dominate and sweep most of the GC's and maybe even the SCs and Nationals. Its brokenness is intramountable and the ability to Abuse the One Energy Per Turn Rule and Rare Candying like mad is amazing. The speed and power of this deck is tough to match and there is no doubt it will go down as one of the top 10 decks of all time.

7 Typhlosion - This survived quit a looong time, and i believe it was first really popularized by Ness at the ECSTS 2001. With combos such as Blaine's Arcy, Eggy, and even solo it certainly deserves a spot in the top 10.

6 Entei/Cargo - Man this deck was seriously really good. Easily one of the quickest decks of all time, dishing out tons of damage by turn 2 and constant double gusting and OHKOs were common, although Pichu did give it some problems. One of my all time favs.

5 Crobat - Before Crobat was released Rocket On was completely dominated by Gatr, Crobat at least somewhat gave it for a run. A good player with some decent flips could beat gatr with crobat and it was certainly a fun deck. Crobat also gets bonus points for having good card art ;p

4 Wigglytuff - This deck has won so many games all time it is simply unbelivable. The ability to DTW for 60 turn two and 70 with a PP back in hay days was great. It combined with the Haymaker Archtype to create a powerful deck which dominated such events as the first ever STS in Long Beach.

3 Feraligatr - I have always hated Gatr with a passion, but there is no doubt it is a great deck. It dominated Rocket on from Start to Finish, without a doubt. When you dominate a format, you deserve a place in the top 3.

2 Haymaker In All Its Forms - There are soooo many versions of hay including: R.Zap Trap, Sneasel, Buzz/Chan/Scy, its just amazing. The amount of time this lasted and the dominance it had for so long was amazing. Truly one of the greatest.

1 Slowking - Paired with such things as Sneasel, Steelix and the Great Chansey, Slowking has always been a dominant card, the ability to shut down trainers and trap your opponent is broken. Combined with Sneasel or a great wall in chansey the deck becomes impossible. Truly the greatest.

I find it hard to disagree with TRUK's list, but these deserve mention (if not for success, at least for creativity)...

Insanity
Metal Chansey
Dark Vileplume
Damage Swap
Dark Gengar

And this one for being a really good deck in its day... Blaine's Arcanine

Now we all know gardevior isn't winning the states that blaziken is, but it still has won in atleast 10 states, in the top 2. Saying gardevior isn't a good deck would be a stupid comment because before blaziken got as big as it is now, it was the deck that was dominating along with BAR. But to make it upon the best 10 decks? Best? I would say so. If gardevior had to face all the old decks of the past, it probably would beat them. Being able to easily do 100 damage a turn with no bench powers is hard to stop.

Prime, i stated it not THAT good of a deck, i didn't say it was a bad deck, its overrated, Gardy is a good deck, but isn't that good.

Don't forget the babies now! Even though they weren't a deck by themselves (or could have been), they still played a MAJOR part in almost every deck.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
It feels so good to say that.

Honorable mentions to- Metal Arcanine and Metal Chansey/Blissy though their times were just too short to become super well respected

No one has mentioned The Cleaner - TIM's project that did succeed given the limitations put on it.

And, come on now, how can you forget Charizard? No seriously think about it. What was the first deck anybody built when they first started off playing the game? Charizard. With 20-40 energies. Maybe some Potions. Maybe Bill. But everyone started off with Charizard. And wound up with the same results.

i don't know, there are so many fun decks that went unnoticed for quite some time, so i'll give my list

1- slowking/sneasel -- "no comment"
2- gatr -- i hated this deck so badly, hence me playing grass for quite some time
3- haymakers- u gotta love these decks
4- crobat- such a fun deck that really put a damper in gatr decks....
5- kingdra- i thought this was a rather decent deck in it's prime
6- entei/cargo- god i always loved watching people roar and get 1 nrg, lol (sorry psyduck) lol
7- anti slowking- there were so many great ones: muk, aero, pichu...
8- smf- god i hated this deck in it's prime
9- jealousy- i've played against this enough to last me a lifetime
10- blaze variants- it doesn't take much thought to build this in this format, and nintendo insists on making it broken forever

10-Raindance -The first energy manipulation deck. Would havelasted alot longer if not for Electabuzz.
9-Damage Swap- One of the most frustrating decks I've ever played
8-Typhlo/B. RK9- Someone mentioned this deck earlier, but it was the loss of the RK9 in the second modified that hurt this one. Speed Kills, and wha's faster than Arcanine?
7-Haymaker- no comment.
6-Clefable-Probably my favorite unlimited deck. Aggrivate your friends by using their attacks before they can.
5-Wiggly/Sneasel-As long as your bench was full, this was hard to beat
4-Slowking-The only wat to beat it was to counter it
3-Kingdra- Swarm with these with no weakness.....ummm, ow!
2-Blaze variants-This is going to dominate for a while
1-Gatr- No deck has ever dominated a format like this guy did the first modified.
