The use of Palkia LV-X in AMU - The Downfall of kingdra

Hey Everyone - this is my small article about probably kingdra's biggest weekness;

The use of Palkia LV-X in AMU.

As this current metagame has grown smaller and become sort of like Gardevior Gallade era. so has peoples understanding of the 2 decks that seem to be at war with eachover.

Kingdra - a very fast, donking deck with the abilty to do 60/20 with just 1 energy and in most cases just tries to rush the opponent into sending out unpowerd useless sacrifices for them to build up a powerful pokemon to do some damage against the ferocious 130 hp water dragon, but by that time its to late becuase aqua stream will be easily enough to KO the pokemon after a serious barrage of 20's on this pokemon. Its other dowfalls against AMU - inconsitancy - devoluter.

AMU/Godblast.dek - this deck seems to be the stronger of the 2. Most decent variants run Mewtwo LV-X and Palkia LV-X - developing the name PUMA2.

The problem i in particular have is an AMU which goes to evry tournament i go to. It runs some awesome stuff and enables 200 a turn mostly everyturn. This particulalr person gets set up in a matter of turns and gets Palkia X up and just restructures claydol everytime and then sits there with a devoluter on mainly his Palkia just devoluting my rare candied kingdras while im stuck trying to draw warp points and rare candies to get out of this situation. but its always to late as i have alwyas burned my 4 warp points up or she has a tight lock up lock on my pokemon via azelf or in some cases both and by the time i do get an energy and am able to retreat she just knocks it out with deep balance or Azelf X's attack

The solution - i dont have 1, i need to know how to get out of this situation or in thatmatter of fact, any situation with claydol active - doing nothing but providing my opponent draws and energy drops to get all her pokemon ready to wipe out my pokemon.

Please someone help me and thanks for reading.

Unown Q? Maybe attach an energy to your benched Claydol(s), so when they're brought up you can retreat them for 1, But you're going to have to have a Warp waiting for next turn.

At the risk of sounding like an *******, DIE KINGDRA DIE. Lol sorry I'm just so sick of people using it. As for a solution the only thing i can suggest is no rare candys, but that kinda ruins the whole kingdra swarm idea. Well every good deck has a weakness, AMU with palkia Lv X just happens to be kingdras

Heres an idea. Play metagross and kill palkia quickly. Also only keep 1 lcaydol out and attach an energy to it. Worst comes to worst you just get another one out and you get an energy in the discard. Also avoid using candies mid game unless needed. It you have the chace to eveolve to seadra or evne candy into seadra do that.

Do you know why Kingdra wins so many Battle Roads? Because everybody plays it.

In Germany Kingdra doesn't win more than other decks - the most successful deck here is actually Gardevoir/Leafeon. We had Battle Roads where two good players ran a Kingdra deck, but Magnezone won the tournament.

This is not like Plox. Kingdra and AMU are not the best decks in format, but only the most popular. If the metagame was that easy, I could just play my Luxray build and have 80-20 vs AMU and 60-40 vs Kingdra. Unfortunally, it loses to almost any GG variant and other decks like Groudonk.

But now to your solution... actually, it's the most obvious stage 2 deck tech you could think of - Dusknoir DP. You can't play AMU if you have three bench slots and one of them blocked by Palkia. Second option is Alakazam to cancel Palkias Power - and let your opponent get stuck with an active 3-reatreat-Pokémon. However, both need an additional Rare Candy, so you'll still have some problems with Devulutor.

But best would be to play another deck that doesn't have so many weaknesses. I don't get it why you all gonna play Kingdra and AMU. Kingdra loses to Leafeon as long as the opponent doesn't have a crap start and gets donked, and Kingdra can be stalled out by Mr.Mime. AMU loses to Luxray, Mewtwo and Dusknoir. There are so many decks that don't have such extreme weaknesses.

Thanks everyone for ure usefull tips and help, i will be using some of these ideas and its is really helpful. So thanks all people who have commented so far and keep them coming.

Palkia Lv.X can be teched into kingdra.

Just run 4 Switch with it.

i dont understand this thread at all. First, 3 seadra? thats just disgusting. good kingdra lists only use 1. Second, Palkia lv.X has been a staple in AMU. Its just such an easy tech to add in, and very effective.

Yes, because every Kingdra ndeck will always have rare candy right when they needed it, and always loses to Kabutops. xD

I run the AMU Palkia thing, it's fantastic against kingdra, and I think the PokeDrawers are only gonna make these two decks stronger, but AMU/kingdra getting faster is gonna be better for AMU than Kingdra, cause Kingdra can't get much faster than it already was! AMU needs set up time though, and a lucky PokeDrawer/rosanne start, and turn 2 or 3 I've got all 4 lvl X's out ready to cause chaos!

The solutions are the switches and warp points. I also do like the idea of putting the extra energy on the claydol. In a pokemon match, I like to use the theory of my main 6 Pokemon. I had a friend who ran kingdra with GLACEON! It worked really well, with the spreading Avalance attack to do a possible 20 to ALL bench, and it's something to charge while you are quick hitting with kingdra. And if you have 6 pokemon to use before you opponent wins, 4 kingdra, and 2 Glaceon lvx, why not? It's a great stall tactic, which kingdra lacks, and glaceon lvlx has the pokebody that shuts of pokepowers while it's active, devistating AMU in particular.

Also, anyone who plays Raichu from this next set will have someting for Kingdra, should be fun to watch.

1. Every good Kingdra will have RC Turn 1 or 2.
2. Leafeon is better than Palkia is in AMU.
3. Stormfront will make sure Kingdra isn't winning everything.

Actually, most kingdra lists usually open with a t1 kingdra, and 3 seadra is terrible. You barely need them, and theyre just dead draw most of the time. thats why you only need 1. Also, Kabutops??? Come on, the thing isnt even played, so i dont know why you wouldeven mention that card.

But Devolutor is played. Decks that rely on Rare Candy get owned by this card. I don't see Kingdra with only 1 Seedra having a chance against a good deck with well-played Devolutor TMs (except for T1/2 donk).

And that EXACTLY why I ran 2 devoluter in my AMU. I can tell you now, kingdra players HATED it. lol
