Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

TheDarkTwins NJ States Report - I HATE STALLING!!

Why dose it seem Like if you win a game you get yelled at for stalling or cheating? anyway. GJ drew. We had a good game.

Judges don't have time to run match slips

he took his time cause it was his first tourney

Mmhm. We've all been in the position when we were new where, to be polite to our opponent, we had to keep things moving, risking a bad decision. It's called knowing your deck and the meta... new players are not good at this, so some tend to just bog down.

Worst case, I've run into a player who insisted slow play was his right, because he was new.

Basically, I recommend calling a judge and pointing out the player is slow because they are new and ask for an extension. This puts the ball in the judge's court, so they either give the extension, or explain to the opp that they have to pick up the pace.

I say this not for Drew's benefit (let alone reproach) but for the sake of all those reading his report who will encounter this issue NEXT week.

Yea, when I was new I would try to go my fastest to keep my opponent happy even though I would make a couple of mistakes. Being new is not an excuse at all.

Q F T, as I have much more to add.

I used to do the same thing, a certain deck call G/G, I'm NOT pointing this out because you used it Drew, but because it seems this is the way most players manage the time with this deck.

So now I take my sweet time vs. them as well.

Last year it was my first season and I was so afraid of being called out as a "staller", even though I play rather fast. This year I've learn from my rookie season that it's better to take my turn instead of making a misplay which happen to me a few times last year.

I really feel we have to get together and really get on whoever makes the rules to fix the time problems in this game. Sometimes simply calling a judge over won't do much.

Twice this year I have lost on time vs. a very slow G/G player. Both games if I have had one more turn I win those games.

So maybe the 30 + 1 sig some people have isn't a bad idea.

EDIT: I joined in the petition, look at my sig.

EDIT: in bold

Wow, I have to comment on this. 4-2 to me is VERY VERY BAD, Going 5-2 and losing in Top Cut would be Okay, if I dont make top cut or finish with less that a +2 after Top Cut in the Win Column Compared to loss's it is bad depending on the event. I have some other comments but I will not go there.

Yes, Brian did go 2-4, but did you see some of his opponents? He hasnt been in Masters long, I think he got T2 in a Battle Road and for a player who just moved up that is good, very good. I would like to add, stop bashing people.

chriscobi634 - Yeh, but you can think and play in a very timely manner. You can always think about what your gonna to "plan" to do next turn during your opponents turn. I usually do this while paying attention to what my opponent is doing. At one point we did have X turns after time was called (I think I cant really remember all of the formats I have played since I have played since Base Set.) I think 30+3 is better, because +1 really can leave you in the same situation when time was called.

JMO,
Drew

Ehh, i guess i will. hes just been bugging me alot, and i mean a lot, so yeah~
Really. i would be happy with 3-3. It sounds like you hope for too much. It can't always end that way. i still think you did a good job, though.

Well, the board isnt the place for that, you can tell he that he bugs you and work it out.

Well, 3-3 might be okay from you, but remember, I have played in Worlds 2 Str8 years, so I have higher expectations of myself.

Okay.

True, you've had more expierience than me, i've only been playing for nearly 4 years. You've been playing ever since the game came out (my guess). You try hard enough, and i think thats great. i think you did a good job. i did like the idea of you playing mawile in your deck, as its a good counter for gallade.

I would like to say something but I don't wanna get drews thread locked.

Plus, the fact that I already stood up for you, right.

AnimeDDR110 - Glad you understand what I was saying.

garchompx12 - Yeh, me too. I got done it by a short R4 (I would of be ahead for good if I had 2 more turns) and 2 mistakes on my part in R5. Otherwise I think I would of been very close to going a total of 6-0 during swiss. But what are you gonna do. I should still go up about 5 points tonight when the ratings update, so I guess I should be glad I didnt go down points.

Drew

communicating with your opponent is vital if you feel that either of you may be slow playing...but yeah, something like 30+1 is needed. (or 30+3)

either way drew good playing you, and thanks for everything

That sucks drew. I know how good of a player you are and for a player to take 3 1/2 minutes per turn is just unfair. I played players like that but they were all understandibly slow. This is just a miscarriage of justice and you should of been in the top cut. Good luck in future tourneys and i hope you sucseed as time draws near to nats.

If i may for a sec i wont say names but ill give a small story
I once played in cities down in Poughkeepsie and i played someone who was so slow in battling i waited over 2 minutes a turn but due to his gameplay. Unfortunily EVERYONE who ever played him knew him as slow i just went on. I thought i had him locked and was gonna finish it next turn but something happened. It ended that he played a move on me i dident see to win but he was so damm slow i was freaking angry. I ended up walking away from the game with a sense of empiness and rge balled into one. It wasent stalling but that day i felt like it was.
