The following scenario happened at the State Championship last Sunday. I hope to get clarification.
Lizard Poison Sceptile with 2 energies attached vs. Team Magma's Baltoy (50HP/Peck) with a Team Magma Belt attached. The player with the Sceptile attacked with Lizard poison, causing 40 damage (Baltoy's weakness is grass) and poison condition. The player with the Baltoy wanted to use Magma Belt (which states that "any time between turns", etc. etc.) to evolve Baltoy to Claydol which would have prevented his Pokemon from fainting.
After a short discussion, the Judge was called over and ruled that the poison damage is applied before anything else happens. Was this the correct decision?
