Hey there everyone,
I have to say that I am genuinely touched by the responses I have received both on and off of this board in regards to my future. I thought I would share the deck that has worked so well for me and garnered me the last little flicker of life left in this game. And of course, per my usual deck posting rules, I have included a song from quite possibly one of the best bands ever.
Is there anybody out there?
That wakes up with a bitter taste?
It's a king that we put up there
And he's a short way to fall from grace
It's slowly filling upward.
You can stand but you have no ground.
I hear it from the lost words.
They say it's time that you lost your crown.
Chorus
Don't be so greedy.
A dollar's a penny to you
When hearts are beating
Say what you want 'em to do.
Wasting away... I see you.
When the top of the world falls on you
Finding a day, don't wanna be you
When the top of the world falls on you
Is there anybody out there?
That can see how a man can change?
It's better that you don't care
Because he knows that he's in his state
I feel the paranoia.
When there's a time, put you in your place
In the eyes of those who watch ya
Well they can wait 'til you hit your face
Chorus
Paint yourself a picture
When you waste another picture
And you win, and you win, and you win
Paint yourself a picture
And then you break another picture
And you win, and you win, and you win
And you win, yeah you win, and you win
Chorus
Typically, when I pick songs, I pick songs that have a personal meaning to me. This song pretty much sums up my philosophy on life (at least my new one). Everyone deserves redemption, there is the potential for anyone to change and become great without relying on materialistic or superficial things. I used to think that I had to win or people would think terribly of me, but it does not matter anymore. I tried so hard to "win people" or be someone I was not. I'm tired of pretending. I do not care if you do not like me or what I stand for, I will still shake your hand and wish you luck. I'm my own person, and I have worked very hard for the people I care about and for the local players. This year I have been humbled and struck where I least expected it despite everything I endured. So for all of you out there that are "On Top of the World" look at your own life. Appreciate the people that truly matter in your life, learn to love who you are. So many people in this game work so hard for the incorrect things (as I did).
I believe in revamping my whole life. The real objective of the older players are to pave the way for the new players and not only maintain the game through honesty and charity, but strengthen it for your friends. Seeing my friends go on and win and go where I have been means more to me now then winning myself. So if you are reading this, unsure of whether or not you can compete "with the big players" take confidence in yourself and understand that if you can make a couple really good friends who care about you, then you become a big player in your own right. At the risk of sounding Yu-Gi-Oh ish, there can only be one winner of a tournament, one champion, but if you can really give back to others and understand that this is a game for enjoyment, you will come out happier than most champions these days. (In this game specifically)
Anyways, onto my deck:
Queen of the World
Modified Format
Pokemon: 21
4 Nidoran F (RG)
3 Nidorina (RG)
4 Nidoqueen (RG)
3 Pidgey (RG)
2 Pidgeotto (RG)
3 Pidgeot (2 RG/1 HP)
1 Drowzee (RG)
1 Dark Hypno (TRR)
Energy: 15
5 Grass
4 Double Rainbow
3 Holon GL
2 Fighting
1 Heal
Trainers: 24
4 Celio's Network
4 Rare Candy
4 Desert Ruins
3 Steven's Advice
2 Copycat
2 Rocket's Admin.
2 Great Ball
1 Mr. Briney's Compassion
1 Protective Orb
1 Pokemon Retriever
My version of "New Age Queen." Basically, it sets up the way it used to, with the Nidoran/Nidorina engine with Great Balls and plenty of Celio's to grab the evos. The Pokemon are pretty self explanitory. Milotic is just uneeded anymore IMO. I have opted for Dark Hypno. Dark Hypno comboed with Pokemon Retriever give you 4 prizes versus LBS or Mew decks. There are a lot of Grass Pokemon that can hurt Nidoqueen (like Dustox) that is weak to Psychic, which Hypno helps out in. Hypno can also help you out versus Ariados as well. My drawing engine has really not been much of an issue. Neither has my energy, I have found the ratio to be fine. I still like the 1 Heal because of certain matchups. Pidgeot d helps with complete power decks like LBS and Dragtrode and can help in the mirror if you are setup before your opponent. Well, there you are, this has been my baby over the past few months. Thought I would share my final deck with you all.
Hope you've enjoyed, give the song a listen, tis a goodun'. Also, please, if you are at a crossroads as I am, really think about what truly is important in your life. Take care guys, say a kind word to someone you don't know or show some charity to those who really are suffering. Don't treat a dollar as if it were a penny.
