Having only played for a few months competitively I didn’t go in thinking of doing well. I was unsure about what deck to run. I built wailord and refined it on Wednesday with Rokman and Justin. I play tested the night before, but was still unsure between Gengar tech and Wailord. I got to the event and thought screw it, I’m running wailord. I borrowed the necessary cards to refine it some and went ot check in.

11/27/10

Round 1- Jonathan (??) Yanmega prime
I get a standard set up and by t3 I was swinging a wailord for 120. He had trouble setting up and ran energy dry. I warp point to pull his Yanmega out, free retreat an Azelf and OHKO his Yanmega. I take 6 prizes good game.
1-0

Round 2- ???- meganium I get a horrible start and go first. I open with a single Wailmer. In my hand I have wailord and all the energy I need. I forget to attach and pass, nearly hit myself. He opens and uses a search for Pokémon attack consistently. T5 I still have no search cards but am swinging for 120. He gets no Pokémon or energy out and I take game 2.
2-0

Round 3- Mullens- Gyarados I had played him on Wednesday and lost already. He opens and just out speeds me. Able to swing for 90-110 a turn kills me. He hits vital super scoop ups that kill me. He takes 6 prizes GG
2-1

Round 4- ??? – Steelix/ Blissey
This was a closer game. I fall behind at first and use a twins. I lost a wailord with a belt and we keep playing. Later he knocks out another wailord and asks me if my earlier one has a belt. He forgot to take his prize. We call the judges over and they give out a prize penalty. He takes his prize and I take one. He cant do anything and I take the final prize.
3-1

Round 5- Milo DPL I was playing during his 24 prize game but heard the noise. I was worried about the weakness with magnezone but Wailord pulled through. He only got one time control on me that was reversed when I knocked his DPL out. Game comes down to time and I take my final prize on my last turn.
4-1

Top Cut:
I play Austino- Gyarados (Having already lost to gyarados I didn’t feel very strong going in.)

Game 1- He gets gyarados swinging for 110, and super scoops at vital times (I scoop)
Game 2- I have godly hand. I put wailmer down and he puts on Pokémon down. I choose to go second. He flips over uxie and passes. I put down BTS and wailord, and then start to roll through my deck. I get a gatr and a second uxie. I end up one energy short of the donk. Game goes as usual he swings for 110 and super scoop ups. I scoop. GG

PROPS:
Austino for winning
Rokman and Justin for helping me build the deck
Kaleb for playtesting with me and cheering me on
Great event at Haltom

SLOPS:
Super scoop up shenanigans
Massive headache at the end

Thanks for the props, man! I'm impressed at how well you did with a deck many underestimated. Hope to play you again in the future, you played well.

So...you just RD the energy on and...hit for however much Wailord does?

Nice....

I think Mike Mullen stole my SSU luck this time around :nonono:.

yea thats pretty much how it goes
