Tyranitar Prime / Houndoom

Ok so i went 1-5 last week at cities with a wailord deck. Just never seemed to pull my E-Belts or anything. So i bought a whole bunch of cards from a friend and mixed up a new deck with 3 T-Tar Primes and 3 Houndooms with a uxie and absol G in there. This deck went 3-2 and only 2 losses i had came from vileplume/gengar decks. Lets put it this way my opponents were 7 of 7 with fainting spell 6 of the with my full powered 160hp T-Tar prime. HOW CAN YOU BEAT THIS? i mean rescue energy helps but none the less still have to power up again. Any suggestions on what i could put in my deck to help out the T-Tar primes? Still new to pokemon, only been playing for a good 2 months now.

Thanks :psychic:

Since you are running a dark deck, Umbreon from Undaunted is a pretty good Gengar counter. Gengar is weak to dark. Use the Moonlight Fang attack and Gengar can't damage Umbreon. Ideally you want to knock out their Gengar with out doing damage so they can't use Fainting Spell. If you have Gengar within range you can retreat Umbreon and bring up your Uxie and attack with Psychic Restore which allows you to put Uxie on the bottom of your deck and they can't use Fainting Spell. Other strategies would include using Pokemon that put damage counters on Gengar instead of doing damage, Knocking Gengar out with Crobat drops and Flash Bite (an effect, so agin you are not doing damage). Shuppet is a good gengar counter because similarly to the Uxie strategy, the card goes into your hand after you attack and Fainting Spell isn't activated.

When using Tyranitar against Vilegar, having Nidoqueen is very helpful. Regice is also great. The trick is at least 2 Tyranitars in play with 1 Darkness energy each. This is good for a number of reasons:

1) When attacking with Tyranitar, you aren't KOing Gengar for three turns. This sounds terrible but it's actually beneficial since by the time they flip for fainting spell they have a severely damaged bench. I've taken 5 Prizes in one turn this way. It's not like they can Scoop Up their Pixies :D
2) You have a natural advantage. Keep your Bench to a minimum since Uxies are free Prizes. The whole type thing works in favor for you.
3) Say you have 4 Trainers in hand... doubtful, but possible. Regice discards two. That's 60 damage. Subtract resistance and you're at 40. Then Nidoqueen means 120 damage just became 20.
4) DO NOT pile up energies on Tyranitar in this matchup. There's really no need.

Basically by avoiding "Powering Up" and healing you will almost certainly have a positive match up assuming you have at least a 2-1-2 Tyranitar line.
