Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

UK battle Roads - Dates

Yes good luck to all at Exeter and a reminder that the format is confirmed as HP to DPI - NO MYSTERIOUS TREASURES at Exeter please :D

It seems that Mysterioius Treasures has just been released in the UK. However given the mess that the confusion over release dates has and will cause. I'm staying with the HP through DP1 format for the Crawley Battle Road on the 20th.

The UK Battle Roads were all sanctioned with the 24th October as the official date for MT becoming legal for play and I'm sticking with that date, even though the product has been available through the grey market for what seems like months now.

I know what you mean Ian, but thinking about this long and hard mabye it would be better to allow DP2 to avoid confusion? This is especially true for some of the younger or inexperienced players, who sadly will have a lot of their deck centred around MT cards?

Just my two cents. However if theres nothing to say we cant have it HP-DP2 (and, if it has technically been released in the UK) I would seriously consider doing so.

Ben, there are events scheduled for this weekend. That has to be too short notice for such a change. Its just over a week to my event on the 20th which is still too short notice for such a significant change. I specified in the sanction information that no MT would be allowed. http://op.pokemon-tcg.com/tournaments/details.asp?tournament_id=710000341 I really think that with the 24th so close now its best to stick to the original plans.

As to the confusion well I know that I'm confused! No matter what we do someone will be able to complain. If/when they do I'll remind them that there was a time in the recent past when it looked like the UK might miss out on BRs entirely.

From a sales and marketing point of view the sudden advance in MT release is a good thing. Its just throws another small spanner in the working of UK OP.

To be quite honest I have no idea if MT has or has not been 'officially' released in the UK. The only date I was ever able to get for the UK was October 24th.

Add in an un-substantiated UK release date for Secret Wonders sometime in November and I am well confused too!

POP have pointed out how much they wish this was not the situation and how complex it makes things for them maybe a November Secret Wonders release date is true and we can get back on track ??

I know, the late notice is another thing to take into account as well, however I can seriously see a large majority of players turning up with MT decks no matter how hard we try to advertise that they can't. I myself am in two minds as to whether I should make my event, also on the 20th, HP-MT or not...

Like you say, damned if you do, damned if you don't. The only thing is a lot of people have centred their decks around MT; and it is easier to put cards you want INTO a deck then it is taking them OUT. It's just weighing up all these points really : /

Of course if we get an official release before then it's harder still to keep them out! You can only try to keep players informed as much as possible - for me I am sticking to HP to DPI for Rainham on the 21st but Normandy on the 3rd November will be HP to DPII (MT).

HP through DP1 for Crawley. No MT . [No Blissey at Crawley even though I have a couple of playsets.;)]

And just a reminder guys that the format for my Norwich event is HP-DP1 as some have got MT but many others havn't and this seems to be the fairest way. Also please email me if you are planning to travel to Norwich as I need to know numbers as we still have an issue with the health and safety people. Thanks

Thought we would also follow-up with a notice that the Hull Battle Road on the 20th will be HP-MT due to the fact most of our players (and I expect most of the country) has and uses them. This way it just causes less confusion, especially with things like decklists.

I'm sticking with HP-DP for my BR tomorrow. Its my opinion that its unreasonable to allow MT for the following reasons: It wasn't going to be released when I sanctioned my event. Only those willing to buy imports have had access to the cards. I, as judge and TO, don't know the cards, as I've never imported and made it a matter of principle at league not to play MT. I can't effectively judge cards I've never seen before.

With regards to the principal, which might sound pious, if we only went on what cards exist as opposed to released then we could all be playing DP3.

Oh, and there's a new shark in the waters, folks :wink:mad:ice_brakerz

Well said sir!! lol I couldn't agree more with you! As you said, they are only on import and you can't expect good and definitive rulings when we don't really know the cards! Obviously if other profs and TO's are happy with MT and they are confident they can make knowledgable rulings then all well and good but like yourself I'm sticking with HP-DP1

Yes well said doodette then :thumb: -

BUT.. given our distributors are selling these to us directly and I have no idea where they are getting them from .. I have strong ideas on that but no proof.. it's a hard line to justify with some players and TOs.. especially if they have bought lots of MT at a premium have sold that on at a premium and now have to say sorry guys and gals you can't play those..

That said the 21st at Rainham on Sunday is definitely HP to DP1 and only events after the one official(ish) date we can find - that's the 24th October should really; IMO, be running HP to MT.

I don't think POP will give us a steer on this either so it's TO live with your conscience - me I will sell the boosters but you'll have to wait for the 24th to play the cards

Manchester BR was fun.

Manicgiraffe playing a very odd deck was good.

I came 2nd losing to Empoleon....I hate that card. The girl playing it had alot of skill, I beat her but then had to play her again in the final where in which I had a bad start then Empoleon just dryed me out.

I finally have all the cards for my proper deck list, no more winging it with ineffective replacements.

Sorry Steph!! As Ben said it's up to each TO's conscience whether to allow MT or not. Like I said, I can't justify letting MT being played when I dont feel that it will be a level playing field. So whether right or wrong I'm not!!
