It'll be the last CC that we'll run in Slough this year on Sun 19th so yah all you kids get yer place at Nats as the invites were passed down to 4th place in the 15+ spot two weeks ago so you don't necessarily have to sweep to win the GOLDEN TICKET.

Oh and tomorrow's second w/end of prerelease sugary fun means LM WILL be legal for 19th yayayay

~fK
Freddy can you confirm this change from advertised here at TPfG and the official OP Website?

I know just what a PAIN trying to get TPfG and the OP website to match any changes made is.. so we may as well make sure we're right as we can be here :D

Thanks..

I found 2 CC's on feb 25th.

Can anyone confirm me if they really take place?

And for 19th there are 2?
one in Slough and one in Rainham?

How much time/transportation will it take to get fthere from Heathrow airport?
I'm still dreaming to attend to a UK CC with my kids.

as kish sed above, i did win crawley CC- wooooo!

i have a few mins on my hands, so why not write a report!
so i decided to play turn two dark steelix (i may post a list at some point. its v similar to the one in the archetype section but without the oran berry n with a few other bits- 3 admin, 2 protective orb, 1 atmr). i decided to play it because ive played it with a variety of things (including the old armaldo) but now have the jirachi to play straight turn 2 variant. so i made the deck the night before after finding out about the tournament whilst getting ready to go clubbing actually! lol

so the day started early- my dad picking me up n taking me back. got there at about half nine n decided that i was def. gona play steelix cos i was a bit bored of queen and i thought legend maker wud be legal so lots of dark weak gengar! it wasnt, but oh well!

so- round 1. good mate nigel E- and guess wat he's playing- typhlosion  i was quite bemused! couldnt find the protective orb, FORGOT about rage damage when attacking him. he luckily top decked a rare candy which allowed him to save himself n then take control. it wasnt a good game for me lol at this point, i was expecting to go home a loser AGEN lol
0-1

round 2- jane f. good old jane! i was confident going into this matchup because she plays grass! good old resistance! however i did have to worry about a sneaky weezing attack and magcargo! it turned out that i KO'd the magcargo early on and continued to fight with one tanked, rather ANNOYED (after last game) dark steelix which took every prize i think. i was pleased!
1-1

round 3- hugo m- really nice guy! playing a water lightning deck, and i was a little worried about any metal resistance, but it turned out fine. i got a steelix running and it just couldnt be brought down. a few cheeky life herb flips! it got taken down eventually by something or other, but that then got ko'd for the game.
2-1

round 4- i know at this point there was going to be a top 2 cut, but thought i had no chance of getting through after losing to nigel who seemed to also be heading for a 3-1 record. he was playing dom j, and i was paried against my good mate kishy who had gone 3-0. he was playing metanite, which i hadnt played against AT ALL actually, but knew its potential just looking at the lists on the gym! it looked formidable- the opportunity to pretty much OHKO a steelix. eek! ah wel, cest la vie n all that! went into it with a clear head and early on managed to establish a bit of control. i used tricky gym to my advantage, hitting bits n pieces on the bench to the point i could rock them whilst i had a bit of an energy drought, but in the end the opportunity never came up! i cant remember the prize count, but i think AT LEAST one steelix went down. i won
3-1

the cut gets called, myself...and KISH! lol. hmm so im nervous cos i know kish is a great player, and wants a win very much- determination can do a lot!! i was determined too tho! we had a break from the CC while we did the pre-release in which i went 4-0! hurrah! so agen i went into the game with a clear head, and a sense of "cest la vie, youve already won something!" so i was well prepared, if not a little nervous

the final- kishy agen! so we sat down to lock horns. the first game started pretty standardly for me- i got turn two dark steelix in every game so  for that! but then things started to go downhill. he got setup quickly- his two pokemon doing what they do best, but kish was being quite hesitant with KOing stuff. at some point kish realised he'd put out 4 prizes lol (pre-release mode) and so two came off the bottom etc etc
so anyway, things started to go downhill for me! i just CANT find a fighting energy for the life of me, so im sitting there with like...three metals and a heal hitting for like 20 with tricky gym. i was not pleased. that steelix stayed alive for ages actually. it was very tense all the way through, and for about half the game a draggy sat candied on his bench with 50 on it so i was desp looking for ATMR! lol cud i find it? NO! lol i think after losing a steelix, i somehow managed to come back. it ended up me having a benched jirachi (or two maybe) a steelix with a fighting on it benched and an active with 4 metal, 4 dark and 1 fighting on it. how goods that?! :D i battled back from 4-6 to win the game by two or three prizes. i found the atmr at the end wen it was totally irrelevant lol

the second game we had 10 mins for, and with two dark steelixs, nt doing much and 3 life herb in my hand, it was never gona end quickly. i win! after almost folding the first game it was going so badly!

props: ian f for running an excellent double tournament
tpfg for letting him
kish for being the best opponent i cud have asked for :)
team sussex 1-2-3!

slops: TOM. just....TOM
no fishcakes available to buy :(
4 hrs sleep the night before *looks guilty*

so there you have it, the extended version!
see u at regionals peeps!

Again as said Rainham is on the 19th not repeat NOT THE 25th!!

Eurostar to Ashford is best for Rainham and we can organise a pickup from there :)

Let the Train take the strain :D

Right. My turn now.

Turn up later, as I didn’t know that time that it was going to start. So Ian F had to repair us which seems that even one has the same pairing while I had to play Steve Horsecroft
(I’m playing dragonite with metagross)
So:

Me Vs Steven Horsecroft (Blaziken)
Very quick
I’m going first, Beldum is active. Call for family for Dratini. Second turn rare candy into metagross and dragonite, and you can tell where this has gone.
1-0

Next:

Me Vs Dom (Queendom)
Hmmm. Dom. Good player. Hmm.
I go first. Beldum. Call for family. On his turn rare candy into nidoqueen (AHHH). My go, call for family. :(. His go. Rare candy into pidgot. My go, evolve in to metang, and use ATM Rock. :) He now has a problem, and is up able to catch up in the game.
2-0

Me Vs Nigel (Erm Typhlosion)
Hmmm. First few turns MAJOR PROBLEM. My Pokemon are going like flies. 6-6 then 6-5 then 6-4 then 6-3. AHHHH. Of which he Ko’s one of my dragonite.
So, thinking cap was on. Lucky he made a mistake, of surprising this Typhlosion ex for a normal Typhlosion. At the time it was a ok thing to do but affected later game. I start to pull back…. Slowly. 5-3, 4-3. ooo, Time was ticking and Nigel was stalling. I had to push him. Just when time was called its my turn, and I ko a Typhlosion. Its now 3-3. Soon as I Ko his pokémon I knew I had to win. Metagross half powered on bench. Delta charge for 1 and attach. I was waiting for me to pick up a energy. 2 turns I had to wait for before I could win. 2-3 to me at sudden death.
The hardest game I have played for a long while.
3-0

O whos next?

Me Vs Andy (dark Steelix)
Hmmm. Never like playing Andy. He’s a good player and a good friend who normally leaving a result to a win to him. And in this match that was right.

NO ENERGYS for the first 5 turns…
I had a beldum, rare candy and metagross in hand, and no energies! He Ko’s metagross before I can get the amount of energies need on him. And from there I couldn’t get going.
3-1

BREAK!!
At least before I have to panic again. After finding out that I had to play Andy again in the final.

So in my pre-release I get………. Rubbish…..

But as this is a CC forum, I keep this short.
1st round
1-0
2nd round
2-0
3rd round
2-1
4th round
3-1

And guess who wins…. ANDY!!!

Right back to the CC
Final:
Me Vs ANDY again :(
1st game.
Such a long game. Took over half the time for the 3 rounds. Both had good starts. Both thinking very hard. Prizes went: 6-6, 6-5, 5-5, 4-5, 3-5, 3-4, 3-3, 2-3, 2-2. Good lord this was long, and getting a bit boring. Andy only have a few cards left in his deck, but due to a silly mistake from me, I didn’t ko his active with 1 fighting, 4 metal and 4 dark. ( Lots of energys on metagross). Giving that I made that mistake, he takes the game.
0-1

2nd game.
About 15mins to play.
I knew I had to win this game. BOTH of us had bad starts, but I had a chance to get metagross and dragonite out but when time was called, there was no possible way of doing 110 to a dark steelix.
If this wasn’t time then it could have gone down to the last game, but as it was:
0-2

Shame
So Andy wins BOTH tournaments.

Pros: Ian coping with both tournaments
Me beating Nigel and Dom
Me not having to play Jane

Cons: I lost BOTH tournaments.
No ex’s in prizes.
Very weak.
I still don’t have a invite to nationals.
I get 2 more dragonites in booster packs.
First time I played the deck. (no practice)
Andy beats me again by post: me: 676 words, 3331 characters with spaces
Andy: 979 words, 4,963 characters with spaces

yah props to two good players, sounds like a final that was pretty close in the end.

heathrow is v near Slough, 10 min bus ride from door to door, no switching necessary at all but you may want to pm vincent0906 for his experiences.

I enjoyed a little holiday in Axeminster over the weekend, and had the chance to go to the Exeter cities, I played Queendom and ended up facing 4 grass decks!. Heres my first report.

Well, when you get to Clifton road you'll notice a distinct lack of archetype decks, they all play sensible and well planned rogues. The only archytpe deck I saw anyone playing with before the tourney began was Spining tail Tyranitar, so Queendom was the obvious choice over SMP and Ludi. It had won the Chalvey cities fairly well and I felt pretty confident with it.

Round 1 v ??? with Ninjask?

I didn't get to see much of thier deck, only 2 nincada, i got a Nidoqueen hitting for 60 by turn 3 and KOed all of thier pokemon.

1-0

Round 2 v Tom with Jumpluff/Rayquazza/Manetric

This was a very intresting stratergy, he stalls with Jumpluff to attach extra energy for a strong hitting Rayquaza, the Electrike also meant a he could do 70 damage T2. I got round Jumpluffs body with toxic, he was able to do 80 damage a few times for 1 energy, but in the end he played Rayquaza with no counter gym to my Desert ruins, this with a 80 damage clutch gave me the match.

2-0

Round 3 v Hannah with Drk Electrode/Drk Magneton

I was deadly unlucky here, I started with a lone pidgey and she had a Voltorb, I pass on Turn 1 and she plays Wallys training and wins before I even draw a card. She went on to win the tourney 6-0

2-1

Round 4 v ??? with Crobat ex/Crobat d

This was yet another grass deck. They didn't know the stratergy of Queendom, spreading damage using Crobat ex's body and then using Crobat d to hit my bench for 60, My milotic healed the damage easily, and a desert ruins with toxic got me the game, despite the 120 a turn to Nidoqueen!

3-1

Round 5 v ??? with Hitmons

This was very easy, Pidgeot had resistance to everything and Nidoqueen was hitting for 70 fairly early. I didn't look like loosing this match.

4-1

Round 6 v. Kate with Dustox ex

What! another grass deck, She got a T2 Dustox hitting me for 70 before I even got started this was a loss by turn 5 or 6, OHKOing anything I played.

4-2

To my disapointment there was no top cut, and even with a 4-2 record I finished 2nd. If only I had played SMP! Thanks to Clifton road games for a fun tourney, although it could have lasted a little bit longer (11-3).

Just a reminder...

Despite our learning of venue management at the Scottish Musical Chairs Society, the CC in Greenfaulds remains on this coming weekend, at the same venue! How cool is that?!?

We've got Team Edinburgh invading this event, so should be a laugh. Will post results and winning decks here afterward...unless anyone wants to go of course. =D
