Ooooooooooooo-kay well here it is!

Britannia Hotel, Birmingham.
3rd July 2004

I'll be staying at the hotel from Fri 2nd July to Sunday 4th - anyone else? ~fK

Most of the details have been posted 'ere and there but...

Qualification is through various means for this invitational-only event with the grand prize of trip and hotel to the World Championships up for grabs for players based in the UK only i.e. representation of the UK by UK players only. Invites given to:
  • Winners of each City Championship (20 so far to be held, they would like to hear from people who can run more to bring the number up to 40)
  • Regional Championships - support is there for judging the London one (May 30th 2004) but again, where there are organisers that can club together elsewhere in the country there can be more regionals held. Top 8 in each age bracket will qualify.
  • Top 20 UK players ranked according to their overall rating based on the Nintendo rankings system - of course to be part of this automatic qualification you will have to have registered under the 'My Pokémon' section of the Organised Play part of www.pokemon-tcg.com
Nationals is GO, World Championship qualification is GO in the UK.

Information confirmed courtesy of The Place for Games, today....

IF you know who's qualified then do post results of CC's etc. so we can get an idea of who'll be playing.

Top 20 UK players by ranking? LOL. Its unlikely that many of the 10- group will have valid MyPokemon accounts before then :(.

Also NO Bye at Nationals from the SE Challenge 6 qualifier/regional/whatever it is

Sorry NoPoke, don't know where you are getting information from but this information is from Gideon Moss, Pokémon OP Manager for TPFG last Saturday at the IMAX Pokémon Colosseum Battlearena event. The statements were made to me in my capacity of reporting for my article in Pokémon World. He will need to know pretty quickly if what he is ready to support is not going to be supported by the organisers of the SE6 event on May 30th in London i.e. yourself and Ben Ward. I would think that he may think twice about supporting such events if what he wants isn't delivered.

There IS a bye from Nationals according to him. And the Top 20 ranked players are automatically invited. If that's what he wants, it's his job to get it and as the players are supported I'm not in a position to argue against it.

anyone know when Nationals might start? or is that just one of those minor details GRRRRR

oh and a finish time wuold be good too.

To be honest there has only been one CC so far, the one that you took part in and won. Support was given for it last Saturday, and today you want to know when Nationals will start.

Only three people have so far qualified for the event. Doesn't it seem a bit unfair to ask for details so quickly? It only affects three competitors in the tournament so far.

Ah we knew there would be a cop out clause somewhere, since there are only 13 of us registered so far then it should be an easy ride ;)

Kraig Liston 15+ Gillingham City Champion with his blistering BAR deck

Shane Herridge 11-14 Gillingham City Champion with a GardEx deck

and last but not least

Jake Arnold 10 and Under Gillingham City Champion with a GardEx deck

** UPDATED **

I can understand that the UK is protecting their "own market" but why are not all distributors following that line.
As I see how you invitation structure looks like, I prefer that more than what is happening overhere.

It also looks like anyone is free to organize a CC, or is this only for people the OP manager likes?
18 changes is much in my eyes, even if your country is bigger than ours.
I wished that I had the change to organize a CC.

Okay Rainham's results have now been included.

London and Hillingdon/Uxbridge are happening this weekend amongst others...

Rochester updated - unlucky 'pro for not winning but having checked, the Britannia Hotel does indeed have a back door! :)
