Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

UK Regional/State Championship Dates

I'm confused...
I'm attempting to post what I know. I'm actively trying to avoid getting into any arguments, largely because they take time.

This is all information from the POP tournament locator.
For a start, these aren't really Regionals as I understand it, they're SPTs.

8th April
Midlands (its about as near as they can get) SPT
High Wycombe

14th April
NW England SPT
Crewe

14th April
NE England SPT
Hull/Hessle

14th April
SW England SPT
Exeter

21st April
Central England SPT
London

29th April
SE England SPT
Bournemouth

Pokeguru's one above makes sense, but it isn't in the locator. Crewe is running on the 14th, in fact it looks possibly like they were supposed to run only 2 weekends, from the dates that were set early. This was more how it occured in the US, afaik.
Pokeguru's would be said:
8th April
Scotland SPT
Glasgow

Three on the same day?! *groan*

Will the UK get any regionals?

I'll be at Bournemouth, London, High Wycombe and one of Hull, Exeter or Crewe, and possibly Scotland if I can find a cheap early morning flight there. For whatever it's worth I will be playing Metanite for all 4, as I will be for nationals ;)

Incidentally, I still can't decide between Crewe, Hull, and Exeter. Exeter and Hull have some very friendly players who it would be great to meet up with again. Then again, I'ld love to go to Hull as I don't think I've ever played in that part of the country.

So who's going to which?

I'll be using Metanite all season too. Crewe's a lot closer to me but Hull should have prize support and it's well run. I should be able to make the london ones (wycombe is so not in the midlands) and I'll bring mario kart DS!

Well, FWIW, I'll be in Scotland. Wanna go for the title 3rd year running. :p

Kempley, if you do find a VERY early morning flight and book it, LMK and I'll be able to give you travel arrangements from Glasgow/Edinburgh to the venue. Although I will warn you - I think Nitish tried looking for early flights in the morning last year and found it difficult - considering trains and the like to get to the place once you get there, you'll probably suffer at least the round one loss if not ineligibility to play in the thing - personally your best bet IMO is staying over in a youth hostel or something the night before.

And M_U, I'm assuming that these SPTs are effectively the regionals. Last year, we only got Regionals and no States, year before was States and no regionals.

Nice to see the UK has a new region now - High Wycombe?

I would have thought a South East Regional would have been better rather than tacking a tournament onto TPfGs normal monthly event and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Regionals!

Can't imagine that there will be much attention paid to Pokemon with that going on!

yes past performance would suggest that all will not go well at high wycombe.

Its quite funny how the SPTs are Named ... I can only get Bournmouth into the SE of England if i turn my atlas anticlockwise quite a lot!. All the North tournaments require me to fold the Atlas in half. I haven't been able to get London into the Center of England.. maybe I need my scizors. still It keeps me amused!

It a new party game...Pin the name on the regional!

I don't get why the South of England (the Home counties) doesnt get its own SPT. Bournemouth could then count as the SOUTH (Southeast???!!!!!) Exeter as the SOUTHWEST, and either Crawley or Rainham as the SOUTHEAST.
3 on the same day is just stupid IMHO

Regionals should methinks go something like this:

South West - Exeter/Bristol
South East - Rainham/Crawley/Guildford
London - Capital nuff said
Midlands - Birmingham/Nottingham/Leicester
East Anglia/North East - Hessle/Newcastle
North West - Crewe/Manchester
Scotland - Chalkeyvilla's

Basicallly the problem would seem to be with the midlands but when offers to help, source or run a regional there are turned down one can only wonder why?

Oh and three on the same day would not matter if two of the events weren't so close to each other!
