Ultra Pro: Electivire & Weavile Sleeves Peeling after a few rounds? -Mine have =/

I usually shuffle as if I was shuffling a deck of regular cards (river shuffling or something like that >_<), and I still have problems with my Vire sleeves. In contrast, the Lucario ones look to still be in good condition, but the illustration and colors are horribly bland. >_<

Whenever I buy sleeves, I stay far away from Ultra-Pro. Never tried Dragon Shield, but I always use random Japanese sleeves and they STILL hold up (I've had one set for around four years and they are still intact, although dirty. lol).

Just curious: but would the top lamination of the Weavile/Electivire sleeves allow the card to be seen if the metalized layer were not present?
I peeled one of my Weavile sleeves .

Here is what I found when I did it:

  • The print is directly on the metalized layer
  • The metalized layer comes off with the print
  • The metalized layer curls up when removed
  • The metalized layer doesn't come off cleanly, there are some spots where it sticks, I see no signs of any good adhesive holding it onto the sleeve part!
  • The sleeve without the metalized layer is just like a weird penny sleeve with a completely transparent back other than any scraps of the metalized layer left on

Conclusion: They don't peel very well when you WANT them to . They just turn into bad penny sleeves that are clearly marked .

I guess it's a good thing I bought a spare pack of SW sleeves, in case one or two do break. Mine haven't broken yet, but I usually shuffle carefully also.

I play with Textured ultra pro sleeves, they feel nice and come in 100 packs, i have no problems with them. I went to them after my dragon sheilds i got kept on spilting, i thought it was just the pack i got but the next ones did it too, so i went to a diff store but no! They did it also.
