Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Utah State Championships- March 19th, 2011

I didn't think I'd be here for this, but for various reasons (kinda complicated for those who know where I was supposed to be instead of here. . . ), I'll be at States. I kinda have to just use the "cheapest" deck I have cards for, so yeah.

Here's hoping I do well :D

Que??? Well, it'll be cool to have you. I hope everything is alright? Lemme know if you need to borrow anything.

You can play your Sablelock, I think it will be a good play for States overall.

I would tend to agree, except my brother took all my SP stuff from me for his deck, haha!

No worries though, I've got a deck picked out I feel relatively good with.

Nice, I am still not really sure what I want to play yet. And Utah states is next week! I am just having a hard time getting a grasp on what our meta will look like

I think I have a decent grasp on the meta, if my assumptions on what top players will play.

I'm not going to share, of course :D I will say SP will be HUGE, I'd suspect. That's true for the whole country, though :p

Also, who are you, Nightwing? I know who most Utah people on the 'Gym are, but not you yet.

I agree on the SP thing, where I'm stuck is trying to figure out how many LostGar decks people will be playing.
BTW I'm Tyler from Provo, I just have never been on the Gym even though I read it a lot.

Ah, ok, I figured it was you Tyler.

Personally, I'm not sure we'll see a ton of LostGar; Of course, what we see in Utah will be affected by what happens this weekend, as well.

I went to the Pre-States that we held last Sat, and there was only one LostGar and it did not do very well. I think your right though a lot will depend on how it preforms this weekend, and if a solid list or lists show up.

How many people showed up to Pre-States? Do you think it was a good predictor of what the metagame actually was? (And who won? :D )

Pre-states was at the game haven in south Jordan. Not very many people showed I think there were only 14 Masters. I do not think it was a very good judge for the meta because of the tourny size and a bunch of people wanted to test out decks to see how they ran but were not sure if they are going to run them for states.

My suggestion is just go and play, Hybrid. Trust me on this one; whether you do well or not is irrelevant. States is just pure fun.

In fact, last year I went to States 2 weeks after starting to play the TCG, and with a Theme Deck no less. I had a blast, regardless. Heck, I even won 2 games!
