Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Virginia's Spring 09 Battle Road Schedule

An IMPORTANT little Caviat here is... the GROWING population of Masters at Battle City Games.

Dude.. there were NINE NEW MASTERS from Newport News & Lynchburg !!

Their decks were hodgepodge , but they played the HECK of those things!

NATE played that Dialga deck like his LIFE depended on it. It was AWESOME to see him go to "PRO MODE" and do his thing.

Just a quick note to Warrenton and VA Beach players:
We DID solomon draft in Midlo on Sunday. Many of you were interested in drafting in Fairfax, but we couldn't due to time constraints...

GOOD NEWS
I still have PLENTY of product if you are interested in drafting this weekend, probably at BOTH venues!! I've decided to let the players decide if they want traditional pass draft or Solomon format this weekend. Some people like something a littel different, and some are more "traditional".. So you will decide! (Still during top cuts, Bradley, sorry!)

Please bring a chair if you are coming to Warrenton! (Not a requirement of course; just a request/plea!!)

The Beach will be beautiful on Sunday!! Come join us for some fun and then hit the oceanfront!

I got a request that the deck registration form be made more available to people looking for it. I posted it on the virginiapokemon website (the same place you preregister for Fairfax events linked in totoro's first post) in the tournaments section as well as the upcoming tournaments section.

Just dawned on me that not only did a father/son team each take the VM on Saturday in the senior and masters divisions, but a brother/brother team did it yesterday in the junior and masters divisions.

Keeping it all in the family, guys??

Congratulations to all the BR winners this weekend!

Fairfax was a lot of fun. It was nice to see so many different decks Saturday. It'll be interesting to see where the metagame ends up, but there are a lot of good decks out there right now.

Jav you played really well during our T4 match. Even against a tough match up, you hung in there and made some good plays, which allowed you to capitalize on my prize penalty. I was frustrated with myself for forgetting my prizes. Without the resulting prize penalty, I think I would have had the game. I look forward to a re-match. On the plus side, I don't think I'll forget my prizes again.

I noticed this as well...

At VB on Sunday, I'm pretty sure the only family with people in two age divisions will be Ryan and Kim, as the Blevins' and Washingtons won't be going...

Kim, winning?...

NAH!

Yeah. I once got a game loss at Regionals for forgetting to put out my prizes. :frown:
It's not fun.

I'm probably coming to the Warrenton BR this weekend, but I've said things like that a million times, so don't get to excited/scared/annoyed/sad.

Ouch! It's been suggested that I deny you badge priviledges for slamming your LL like that! :)

lol @ yoyo. Busted.

If Kenton and Jarrett are reading, I think your dice may have been found at HW before I left. I put it somewhere that I knew it wouldn't get mixed up with anything and I'd know it when I see it, but I have no idea where exactly it is that I put it  . The good news is that I found my professor stopwatch, so you all don't have to keep hearing "wait for it" to start the round at tournaments :thumb:.

The bad news is I have momentarily misplaced my sound recorder, which makes Javier happy and me sad.

Jason, thanks for the kind words. I really thought my luck had run out when we went to sudden death, I thought for sure you would get a quick ape doing 100 which would secure you the win. Your deck was solid and very frustrating to play against. To go in to the cut the number 1 seed in the crowd we had Saturday was no mean feat, and you definitely deserve props for that. Any one who sits across from you thinking the have an easy "Poke-parent" win is in for a big surprise!:thumb:

I have to laugh at RA's description of the deck I used as "Random SP" because it really did start out that way but then took on a life of it's own as Leah, Arron and I worked on it. Some practice time with it would have really helped, but I had stuck mostly with Machamp because I wasn't expecting to play much before Nats. It really is a fun little deck, and has the benefit of falling into the "budget.dec" category.

As far as a rematch, if it is to be this season, it will have to be at Nats, but it is funny how sometimes you go to a big tourney like that and end up playing people you see on the local scene. If you aren't coming to Warrenton, then I look forward to seeing you at Nats. Good luck to you and Kenneth at any more BRs you are going to.
