Supporter Draw cards from your deck until you have 6 cards in your hand. Before drawing cards, you may discard 1 card from your hand. (If you can’t draw cards from your deck, this card can’t be played.)
You can only use a Supporter once during your turn. To use it, put it into play next to your Active Pokemon and discard it at the end of your turn.

I remember reading people saying this was going to save the draw next format; I had no idea what the card did at that time, but I just went and looked it up. And I have to ask...

Are you KIDDING me?! This card is awful! Remember Prof. Birch? Anyone run that? No? Oh okay. This is nearly as bad!

Staraptor too I've heard of being good. It's not that good guys!

From what I can tell next format is go G or go home in terms of trainer engines (assuming we lose Claydol).

Uxie...?
Or just run lots of Buck and w/e.
Also Volkner is actually pretty good, when you don't want to plaster your bench w/Uxie.
Also Staraptor is good.

So you drop one into the discard to draw until you have 6 cards. I'm not seeing the downside here. If you have less than 5 cards in your hand when you use the supporter, it's decent draw. If you have 6 (including this one), you get 2 cards for 1 discard. 7 ends up with one new card, and if you have more than that, you get to drop 2 cards from your hand (the supporter and another card) - more or less for free. In certain situations this might be a good thing - like in Regigigas, or other decks which recycle cards. So .... what am I missing here?

Back then we had Copycat & Steven.
I'd kill to play Copycat again, draw supporters are bad right now...
And discarding helps as well since this card should be better then Felicitas

Eh, only good for decks that need to discard something, like Gigas, except that deck should be pretty obsolete when RR comes out.

Other than that this card is AWFUL.

Volkner will be as situational as Cynthia, I feel. Cynthia, if timed correctly, can be a massive hand filler. Volkner, when timed correctly, can too. I see Volkner being very popular next season.

And yes, I do use Birch here and there.

I think it will be played because . . .

1. it will be the best draw Supporter
2. When your Trainers are being locked and your Powers are being sprayed, then Supporter draw is good again

I'm more excited about Underground Expedition:

Supporter

Look at the bottom 4 cards of your deck. Put 2 of those cards into your hand, and return the remaining cards to the bottom of your deck in any order.

I play AMU, with 4 pokedexes and trade off, I can pick one from the top, put the others to the bottom, and once I get
at least 2 cards I like to the bottom 4, I can play this supporter. What happends if I pokedex for 2 pokedrawer? I'm
gonna get one of them back, and be able to get my game going! I also play an oaks visit or two, which means I can
put that card to the bottom this turn, and be able to get it back next turn if need be, based on what I draw. I have up
to 4 'placing to the bottom' before I have to decide to play it.

I personally like Prof Oaks Visit, it gets a solid 3 cards and I can dump a card at the same time, which I can always get back later on. I do miss Steven though....sigh

volkners is pretty much the exact same thing as birch

you can get rid of a card from your hand if you want to but you dont have to

but its still not the best draw card thats going to be in the format

Are you KIDDING me?! This card is awful! Remember Prof. Birch? Anyone run that? No? Oh okay. This is nearly as bad!
Remember Porygon2 from EX Delta Species? Anyone run that? No? Oh okay. Claydol is nearly as bad!

But to be honsest... the option to get rid of a card before filling the hand can be a huge difference. The example with Porygon2 DS and Claydol GE should show this pretty well.

And, as Yoshi said, we had Steven's Advice and Copycat that time. If you had less than 6 cards ins your hand, Steven gave you more draw than Birch at any time, that's why nobody played this card. Maybe nobody would play Volkner if we still had steven. But compared to the draw supporters we have now, this card is great.

Actually the reason why underground expedition is nerfed is because there are cards we shuffle to the bottom, why would you ever put a card you want on the bottom of a deck only so you can draw it again by wasting a supporter. The card basically forces you to pick between running this card and pokedex.

This card is actually the best straight draw we have.
It's much easier to dump our hands in this format than most others, hence the popularity of Uxie and Claydol.
The discard also makes it better than Birch, infinitely.
We have noticed a decline in straight draw power in the past formats because of Uxie and Claydol, BUT with the rise in popularity of Power Spray and Mesprit Locking, we are now returning back to the old days of using more supporter draw.

It essentially just gives you a way to recover from a spray'd Uxie/Claydol etc. and is overall just a good card.
