Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Washington State Arceus Prerelease

There are allways draft tourneys afterwards at Prereleases.

We have not had a draft after any of the Blue Highway Prereleases. We also missed a draft a year ago or so after Phoenix Games, because I ran out of cards.

But I should have plenty of cards, so yes there will be after-drafts at both Jeanne's and Olympic Cards and Comics.

Sorry let me reprease "There are usually booster tourneys after prereleases"

Spokane Valley was fun...23 players for the first test event....

Winner of the Costume Contest was Natanya dressed as Blaziken, second was Robert Dressed as Father Time...third was Zero dressed as Leonardo of the Teeenage Mutant Ninga Turtles....

lacey was terrible. the woman TO kicked the ygo/naruto players away so the pokemon ppl could have 4 ppl per table when they could easily sit 6, then she said to the employee (cuz he told her that the ygo/naruto players were both having sneaks), "oh, well their sneak isnt going to happen then".. wow, talk about being rude....

r3skyline, I hope that one issue didn't ruin your whole tournament. Pokemon tournaments tend to pull 40 to 50 players at Olympic Cards and Comics. And Pokemon has a large number of younger players in the 7 to 10 age range, whose parents are not comfortable leaving them alone in a store, so there are 8 - 10 parents who need a place to watch their kids.

Did you get any good cards?

I'm sorry you felt the entire day was terrible based on the beginning of day. We had 42 players, and they WERE sitting 6 to a table. There were 8 Yugioh players sitting 4 to a table in the area we were using. I asked to have them moved to an unused table in another part of the store. We still had 6 to a table for Juniors, Seniors and one table of Masters after the non-Pokemon players moved.

Olympic Cards and Comics is an awesome venue, one of the best, and I love running tournaments there. This morning was frustrating. We were not informed ahead of time about the other events, otherwise I would have brought 4 additional tables along with the 8 chairs I brought.

Hey it used to be worse. Remember the old store when we were stuck upstairs and the store would schedule two events at the same time still!!!

Leo, the issue was never supposed to be that Pokemon players were sitting 4 to a table. The YGO players, as far as I know, we're sitting 4 people at 1 1/2 tables (Table 1: No one, People, Table 2: Bags, People). All that was asked, while I was there at least, was for people to consolidate so that where the bags were, there were instead people so we could have an entire table. Only after that entire table cleared out did that *one* table decide to sit 4 to a table. I know we talked about this a bit earlier, but I hope with this level of clarity you can understand where I'm coming from better.

Also, I understand that Gabi's runs every major game and can get a bit crowded. Additionally, in a tournament atmosphere with the store being so packed and loud, things can get misinterpreted. I'd also argue that, of all the games played there, Pokemon does the best job of trying to accommodate, as as far as I know, Dave and Niki have always tried to bring extra tables and chairs whenever possible.

I hope you didn't let this ruin your experience. You totally should've drafted! At least you got to trade for the cards you needed!

@Jeff Dark times indeed. I remember playing tabletop gaming at the old shop and it was suuuper crowded. However, I hope you understand that it's not a matter of "would" schedule, it's a matter of being a store that supports every major CCG/TCG, as well as miniatures gaming, roleplaying, other tabletopgaming, and open play, and trying to make accommodations for them all.

Sorry, just had to stand up for my local. ^_^

I thought today was super fun, though. We got basically everything we needed, and although we both failed in the draft, Ashley and I had a great time. Thanks to Niki and Debbie for coming out!

P.S. - Niki, I forgot to return energies from my draft deck, as I got the last round bye. If you'd like I can mail them to you, or give them to you the next time we see each other. All apologies!

after we left, you then moved the tabel #'s, where we were sitting, to where it was 4 to a table. why was that?

8 ygo players? lets see, it was myself, corey, will, and 1 other person. how does 4=8? the employee asked us to move to a table cuz you guys needed room. we did that cuz we were spread apart pretty wildly.

you then come to us and tell us to move to the other table, which btw is used by D&D players. so then, we were kicked away once again.

but why would you tell him that our sneak, "was not going to happen". thats what i dont understand.

the movement of us to 1 table wasnt the problem tho. it was her saying in response to our sneak "oh, well thats not going to happen then" thats the issue with me. that was completely out of line.

pokemon doesnt accomodate. i know this because my friends told me that the naruto/ygo sneak players were most likely going to get kicked out of the area for their (pkmn) sneak. they never consolidate area for them. he plays there all the time (wont give a name but will tell you he's with corey a lot of the time and hangs out with Todd's team, great person btw), both naruto and ygo, so i would trust what he says over anything here. and you know what, from what happened sunday, it further solidifies what he was talking about.

as for pokemon playing, the only reason why i didnt want to play was because the cost ratio for pokemon vs ygo is pretty bad. ygo i can gain so much profit vs pokemon. its why i just went ahead and traded for everything i needed.

so at the end of the pokemon / ygo day, i walked away from both games with exactly what i wanted/needed spending only $5 (cuz i made money back from the ygo sneak).

the only thing that irritated me all day was seeing expert belt in that structure deck. haha.

the judge saying what she said was rude, but thats about it. i did have a problem, but it didnt get in my way of playing/what i think of you pokemon players.
