Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Well this is intereasting!

The only reasoning I could see for it being one prize instead of two is if the power discards the belt before it counts as being knocked out.
At the same time, it has to be knocked out for the power to trigger, so it could also be argued that the expert belt's extra prize requirement has already been met before the power discards the expert belt.

Honestly, the Ho-oh would need a much better attack for the combo to be worth running.

You'd discard the Expert Belt before checking for the KO, so you would take just one prize.
I can answer that here, but we don't have an official ruling at this time, so I can't answer it there.

That's exactly what I was thinking, but who knows, and with spiritomb, you can kiss without fear of power spray. not amazing, but at least interesting...

Since generally you're going to have Ho-Oh active, not Spiritomb, when it gets KO'd, spiritomb isn't much defense.

Skittles is amusing and interesting but not terribly competitive. Expert Belt doesn't help its damage that much anyway, if you're running it Togekiss style - only its HP, which even then is pretty mediocre.

that's why I'd q the spiritomb and only send it out after your ho-oh is koed, thats the only time you need to kiss anyway. Still its pretty much only for fun.

I think you would get the two prizes because of this Compendium ruling:

Q. If you have an Expert Belt attached to Dusknoir Lv.X and it would be knocked out from damage, is Expert Belt discarded before prize cards are taken? In other words, would the opponent take 1 or 2 prize cards as Dusknoir Lv.X moves into a stadium due to its "Ectoplasm" Poke-POWER?
A. Dusknoir is still a Knocked Out Pokemon and Expert Belt is attached at the time the Knock Out is checked for, so the opponent would draw 2 prize cards. (Dec 10, 2009 PUI Rules Team)
Wouldn't it PokePop? It has the same "if (it) would be knocked out... discard all cards attached" wording.

Doesn't this "This counts as Ho-oh being Knocked Out" refer back to this "Ho-oh isn't discarded. Instead, remove all damage counters, Special Conditions, and other effects from Ho-oh"? If so, hasn't the check for a KO already been determined before discarding anything from Ho-Oh. Otherwise, why are you discarding anything? You would only do that if Ho-Oh were KO'd, and at the time the KO was checked for it had Expert Belt attached.

Dusknoir LV X wording:

If Dusknoir is your active Pokemon and would be Knocked Out by damage from your opponent's attack, you may discard all cards attached to Dusknoir LV. X and put Dusnoir LV. X as a Stadium card into play instead of discarding it. This counts as Dusknoir being Knocked Out and your opponent takes a Prize card.
And Ho-Oh:

Once during your opponent's turn, if Ho-oh would be Knocked Out by damage from an attack, you may flip a coin. If heads, Ho-oh isn't discarded. Instead, remove all damage counters, Special Conditions, and other effects from Ho-oh. Then, discard all cards attached to Ho-oh (except for Energy cards.) This counts as Ho-oh being Knocked Out and your opponent takes a Prize card.
Disregard the extraneous text which is highlighted blue. The text "Once during your opponent's turn..." is made extraneous by Raichu LV. X. You could feasibly KO the same Ho-Oh twice in the same turn, and the first check on Ho-Oh would have to be done before the second attack.

This makes more sense to me. I'm kind of interested to see the official ruling.
