What are "formes"?

There are lots of refrences to something called "formes."

I don't recall seeing this strange word before and wonder what it refers to. Could it be a typo for "forms"?

Formes are forms. In French, that is. They mean the same thing though. That is a Shaymin Sky Form(e) indeed.

Basically the word "Formes" just means "Forms", and it relates to the 2 Pokemon of the moment, Giratina and Shaymin, both of which take 2 different forms (Giratina has an "Origin Forme", with Tentacles, and an "Altered Forme" with wings- Shaymin has a "Land Forme" which is basically a Hedgehog, and a "Sky Forme" which can fly). The word formes has been used to heavily promote Platinum since there are 5 different Giratinas and 5 Different Shaymins in the new set.

Well, I was counting the Xs as well. 2 Holo Giratinas+ 2 Non-Holo Giratinas+ Lv.X= 5 Giratinas. 2 Holo Shaymin+ 1 Regular Shaymin+ 2 Lv.Xs= 5 Shaymin.
