Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What I Liked Best About Nationals Was ...

I would like to start out an say What an Event!! an What a Great Group of People!!

My hats off to PUI for another great event!! It was nice to see everyone I have not gotten to talk to for awhile an to meet some new ones!! I had a great time even with missing out on all the fun Fri. an then having to drop on Sat. to look after my son who was sick all weekend. Can't wait til Worlds to get together again!!

Winning the thursday modified. Nothing like pulling two regis and altaria ex in your box
That Max & Erma's thing across the street was reaaaaaaaaaly good.
And of course meeting the gym staff, ppl from online, etc.

While the judging at the Prof. cup was great and fun, one of the funniest moments came when i was judging 10 & under. One boy, when his opp. didn't show up for their match, I sat across from him and said, " Well, the other player didn't show up, so you're going to play me instead." He just gave me a steely- eyed look and said, " That's ok. I got a plan for you." I was trying not to laugh too hard when i told him I was just kidding and that he would get the win.
Whoever that kid was, I'll never forget that!
Rick

I'd have to say several things

Kathy (Chris Schell's Mom) placing 25th, and her beating Chris Fulop, and Moss!
When she plays someone, she tells them to be patient with her she just started playing and she will have to read their cards since she does not know the game that well! I told her she needs a new story, that one doesn't hold water anymore!
Chris making single elimination top 32
Anna getting to Judge in the Professor Cup
Getting to catch up with old friends!
Being together as a family, and everyones positive attitude!
Watching the U10 boy that placed 4th and got the Spirit of the Game Award, he was great!

Top ten:

1) Between Laura, the two kids, and I, we played 18 tournaments in 4 days. And we skipped the sealed Thursday morning!

2) Alex (6 years old) winning a few games and being so excited!

3) Laura making the cut in the Professor Championship.

4) Fulop DQ'ing Dave.

5) Great job by Bob Ash who judged all of those side events! He's a machine!

6) Kyle and I going 4-1 in the Team Sealed.

7) The look on Alex's face when people would go by dressed as Pirates, Genies, Zombies, Stormtroopers, Knights, etc...

8) BDS with a purple do-rag. I hope my pictures came out.

9) The power failure at our hotel Thursday night. We ate pizza under the emergency lights and tried to work on decks.

10) Four days to play!

I didn't get to go due to an impending death in the family but just wondering if you will have any time at worlds to do any more Prof "games" . I know one Prof that had a really good time at the Prof cup and would love another chance to bond and see his buds!

Can't wait to see my "real" family when worlds rolls around- hoping that I can help somewhere too!

ncp: I'm sure we'll be doing some staff things at Worlds.
See you there.
Sorry to hear about your family. Hope it all works out.

ok, gonna give this a try, but do it both ways

Props:
sean for getting 3rd
me for going 5-3 with a deck i had never played before
fireworks for all!
meeting all they players :thumb:
Stuart for winning 11-14 and helping with my deck last min. (and i mean last min.) :thumb:
a great event :thumb:

Slops:
the 5 hours of flying to and from :frown:
losing my cell phone at the event, getting it back, and losing it for good in a cab
the maid throwing out my contacts and flying home blind
every food place in a 6 block radius closing at like 4 pm
the 10 block walk to and from the event (next time book early)
someone who stole levi's backpack
me missing day 4.

so over all
event=good
rest of trip=can i go home yet?

Easy one for me:

1. Professor Cup Champ gets trip award to Worlds (passes down to me in 2nd place).

2. Doing better than my kid for once in a major tournament.

3. Tymon, THE man behind the scenes running TMS. I had my own software ready on my USB drive just in case.

4. Chris Fulop for once again playing a deck weak to mine (my zappy vs his ludicargo). I was able to beat him in the last Professor Challenge with my Beedrill vs his Gatrsect. You're still better than me Chris.

5. Matt Yuen whose Regionals Zappy deck inspired me to play the same (and finish T16).

6. POP (MikeL, PeteD, DaveS) for making Decipher OP looking like child's play -- ironic or what!

7. Jim Ferrel for showing me that a Salamence deck really was possible (he whooped my butt).

8. The Professor Cup judge who gave me about 5 forgot-to-discard-supporter cautions.

9. Jeff for not getting too upset about TMS pairing him down just about every round, thus keeping him out of the playoffs. Jeff really has one of the best attitudes in the game, dispite the fact that he sometimes plays painfully slow.

10. VinceK for bringing Apples To Apples.

and last:

11. Me making the Puerto Rico board game playoffs but having to drop out BECAUSE I MADE TOP 16 at Pokemon NATS!

Losing out on a $750 scholarship on an improbable 3% chance. Oh wait, you said things we liked about Nationals. =D

I'm just kidding, Nats was a blast. I enjoyed everything. All the people made the whole event enjoyable. I'll be going next year almost for sure. :D

Ohh i had many memories from origins 2005 but there is one that sticks out:

I am playing in teh proifessor cup and this girl comes up saying:

"You left your supporter out so you get a caution"

Any other judge i would of apoligized and discarded it but being her i discarded it and in my mind laughed so hard. She came back to watch our match for 30 seconds just to see the mistake wasent made again. It was hillarious to have a kid come up and make a ruling like that and it was also fun to see the professor cup judged by kids.

Best memroy from origins: Meeting and geting my tropical wind promo signed by william hung.

Worst memory from origins: To see a buddy get strainded by his roomates because he wanted to play a late night draft.

This year by far was one of the best orugins ive veer attended and i cant wait till worlds.

The whole event was awesome from the Professor Cup with Mike and Dave playing to the judges for the event to the prizes they gave away for the side events!!! Dave, Pete, and Mike's hard work all paid off in making this an absolutely awesome event!!! Can't wait to see what is in store for next years event!!!

very difficult to say, so i will make a list:

1. hanging out with dave, mike, and pete. you guys truely are the definition of "awesome." i can't imagine any other people running this game and doing a darn good job doing it. your relationships with the judges and players of the game (including myself) show that this is a great game for all ages, and that PUI cares about the people.

2. being with my good friends

3. making new friends! hope to see you at worlds (if i'm there)!

4. the professor cup

5. nationals

6. helping out the kid who lost their speed deoxys ex, and mike being extreemly generous in the end.

7. seeing pokepop, sdpokemom, bulbasnore, chrisbo, onederland, sensei, gymleaderphil, ives rountree, the_sniper, etc (too many to list!!!).

8. using my pocket scale to weigh onederland's packs to find out which ones had the holos and bulbasnore being incredibly facinated with it (who could blame him?) ;).

Here's my couple lil' ones...

1. Meeting so many people - Pokegym members, Pokegym staff, and other random faces!

2. Going 4-1 in Team Sealed and taking 4th.

3. Pulling a Rayquaza ex, 4-2 Magcargo line, 3-2-1 Slaking line, and 3-2 Donphan line for Team Sealed.

4. Last but not least.... P-P-P-P-POOOOOOOOOooooooooooooOOOOOOOOKA!

Yay!

I liked getting to meet all the staff from the gym and Beating Pokepop and Chrisbo. 'Pop in Prof. Challenge Chrisbo in the Pokegym Mutant Midnight Madness Draft. I lost a very good game though to 'Mom in Draft her and that Nosepass got me. I liked tha lanyards and just being there with everyone. ^^

...am I allowed to say everything? =P

Anyways, yeah, it was all great, mainly getting to meet friends and mods and stuff from the gym, though I must say, people looked alot different then I would have expected o_O

And making top 8. That was nice too.

1. The NW SWEEPED!

2. I saw lots of pokegym members and mods.

3. Columus Ohio was actualy interesting. o_O

4. The place for having a food court so Tyler an I could have milkshakes for lunch and that's it!

5. The Team sealed event was awesome!

Hmm...What I liked the most, was the Drafts (Professor Cup, and PMMMD) In The Cup, I got to beat Chrisbo, and in the Mutant Madness, I got to beat 'Pop, and it's not everyday you get to battle Admins to the Pokegym, beat them, and not get banned =p. Getting the Professor Energies was a bonus too, now I have plenty, and don't have to order them ^^

Nationals...I liked it, but it wasn't nearly as fun as the two other events, not because I kept losing, but because there just wasn't anything there I guess, not as much prizes and giveaways as one would have hoped for a National Tournament, most of the goodies went to the other normal tournaments, to get people to drop Nationals. >.>

The Mutant Draft? Who couldn't love that. Staying up till 3 am, half asleep, yelling at each other over absolutly nothing, and then watch Nosepass evolve into Hariyama, and Plusle evolve into Electrode. Not to mention Ditto breaking the format. GJ Ditto. Props to the Gym for setting that up.

Well, that's about it. Overall, I just loved being around all my friends, and all the top people at the Gym, and finally figuring out who everyone is and sounds like. When else can you bump into 'Pop in the Exhibit Hall and have a social conversation. XD
