My musical preferences are as follows:
WILL ALWAYS LISTEN TO WILLINGLY:
*Almost anything from the 80's, particularly from groups such as Phil Collins/Genesis, Steve Winwood, and Duran Duran.
*Lighter songs from the 90's, such as KayCi & JoJo's "All My Life," Martin Page's "House of Stone and Light," etc.
*Certain songs from various eras that are incredibly salient due to certain memories (e.g. "You Gotta Be" by Desiree, the Macarena, "Rosanna" by Toto, "Point of Know Return" by Kansas, "Brother Louie" by Stories (?), etc., etc.)
*Songs from the 70's, particularly from KC and the Sunshine Band, John Mellencamp, or Supertramp.
*Pokemon tunes from the video games. (Does anyone know where I can obtain MP3 versions of those? In particular, I like the music from XD and Colosseum.)
*Classical music and/or word-less music.
*Concert-band type music. In particular, James Swearingen is a great artist (starts humming "Invicta" to self)
WILL SOMETIMES WILLINGLY LISTEN TO:
*Certain songs that used to be trite but they have cut down on the repetitions (e.g. songs from Maroon 5, "This Is How A Heart Breaks" by Rob Thomas, etc.)
*Songs from the mid-90's.
*Some other general categories that aren't coming to mind immediately.
WILL (ALMOST) NEVER WILLINGLY LISTEN TO:
*Songs that are trite today and that I dislike (e.g. "Photograph" by Nickelback, "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter, or "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt).
*Songs that are salient from bad memories (e.g. "Torn" by ???)
*Newfangled rap of any variety, particularly if there are extensive references to the "bad things."
Of course, this isn't a complete list.
