Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What will win Regionals

Having won a SPT with Sablelock, I feel the deck deserves more credit. I ran a suboptimal list and it still had a 66-33 bilance with Luxchomp. After some tuning I believe the number has raised more towards 80-20. As in either they get a good start to your bad one, or they lose.

Gengar is also an amazing matchup, basically an auto-win if they dont start with a Spiritomb, and a 70-30 if they do.

Truth be told, I only faced one Gyarados and it came down to misplays from my opponent. I wouldnt recommend if Gyarados or PLOX are heavy in your metagame. However, it is a very good choice for Luxchomp/Gengar/Jumpluff infested metas.

what is sablelock

Can I hear some opinions on some decks I've been considering?

- Jumpluff
I hear it did well! How did it work? I made a list in Redshark that actually worked relatively well!

- Gardevoir/Gallade
No one seemed to be playing this in top cuts at States... is that a universal observation?

- DialgaChomp
I don't want to run LuxChomp, but D-Chomp I will happily run.

- Cursegar
I hear this didn't do as well as anticipated, either.

Ummm, i'm just gonna disagree with you. Sableye can T1 Hoppip much easier then most cards because you know, it goes 1st no matter what. plus Garchomp C OHKO's with DCE and Dragon Claw.

Not to mention that Sableye donk loves disrupting decks like Jumpluff and Gyarados when they have 30 HP basics making Cyrus' Inititive much more potent.

And you know, Hopipp is one of the biggest factors in Jumpluff, hence why it sees less play than it would otherwise.

Jumpluff runs through every pokemon in the deck and once you run out of your two garchomps you will be hardpressed to stop them. Lets not forget the fact that multiple claydol render disruption pretty much useless since it wont be too hard to figure out that claydol should be set up asap.

Would you please at least play the matchup once before drawing a definitive conclusion? Yes, once they setup 2 Claydol, 2 Jumpluff and a Luxray, Sablelock will have a hard time winning. The point is, they should never get to that stage. And that is ignoring the fact that most of their basics have very little HP - enough to Donk in a large percentage of games.

^Very true, "if" Jumpluff sets up and gets set up well, it'll win more in likely, but early game, its so easy to donk a Hoppip and maybe even an extra lower HP basic, from playing the deck at States, donking with this while it is a cheap way to win its a legit strategy. A lot of decks get ripped by Initiative too.

It's almost like nobody saw what won states. Jumpluff did really well. It did better than Flygon. It actually got 1st more than gyarados. It obviuos that Luxchomp is the bdif. Gyarados topped alot, but just isn't good enough in this metagame. Plox topped quite a bit. It did pretty well.
1.luxchomp
2.gengar
3.plox
4.gyarados
5.jumpluff

I'm predicting that people will start to hear about sabylelock being BDIF and start to play it even if they don't know how. It seems to me that it's a deck that takes lots of skill and a great list so, I think it could do well in a few choice metas, but it definitely won't sweep America.

Gyarados!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............Hopefully,
anyway what is sablock i've never heard of it. is it the weird sableye/honchcrow deck?

I think Luxchop is a great deck but I will never run it because of the damage output. I think the deck is fast but if you make it to late game you have the game. SOOOO
1. Luxchop (because of the number of people running it)
2. G Dos (because of the output)
3. Crusegar ( because of 2 mimes)
4. Jumpluff ( Damage out put)

ok well if you think everyone going to be playing luxchomp then go play machamp
and i do think flygon has a pretty good chance of winning a regions, it how you play the deck i think machamp going to be played as much as luxchomp and gara i think plox few plox decks well top cut gyarados is a beast if you get amzing starts but ive beaten it everytime ive played it so far with luxchomp deck and i only lost to it once during pre states testing. and i played flyplox i made the top cut with it but i had a bad match up and lost. but i do believe the smart play is luxchomp

What will sweep regionals is Luxchomp. It's going to be the most hyped/played/netdecked deck in all areas.
Well built rogues will win, but not many. So many people are narrow minded and are pressured to play "the best deck" even if it isn't their best deck, or if they're unfamiliar with it.

I can also see some well built DialgaChomp lists winning, maybe even winning Florida, the toughest state. The difference in Dialga vs Luxchomp is that Dialga is more of a thinking mans deck(butlerforhire said it best). Luxchomp can be autopiloted, while Dialga takes a bit more skill to play IMHO.

Anyways, I can also see Cursegar winning, but it will have to get very lucky. There is going to be so much sable/honchkrow donk and that's gonna hurt Cursegars chances at least 25-50%. Donphan rogues will probably do well, because the only people goin gto play Gyarados are the ones that are actually good with the deck. Gyarados was extremely hyped for states, now Luxchomps the hyped deck for Regionals, hence why netdeckers will jump all over it.

if I was to give anyone reading this post now advice, it would be; Use the deck that you are most comfortable with! Seriously, you will do much better with a deck you know how to mplay and autopilot, over a deck you just built, and are unfamiliar with matchups.
