Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What Won 2009 Regionals Thread

Agreed. If the Dialga list [is good and] runs at least one Unown G, it's a favorite vs. Machamp, unless they hit 4 heads on Hurricane Punch all game.

I'm not saying you're wrong: Machamp had 3 1st place Master, 1 2nd place, 1 3rd, and 6 4th places. Dialga had 4 1st place, and 2 more with Palkia G; 3 2nd, 3 3rd (2 more with Palkia), and 2 4th. Very good for both decks. These were, by my count, the best 2 decks at Regionals.

Keep in mind that not many people play Revenge Machamp, which I find to be extraordinary against G, and that certain techs need to be in place, which most people don't play, opting unwisely for Speedchamp. If these elements were installed, I think Champ would do even better.

That said, BR and Nats will likely be a different ballgame for both decks.

At Mountain West Regionals, it was a Machamp vs. Dialga final, the Dialga played at least a 1-1 ToxiTank line and at least 1 Unown G, yet Machamp was able to pull it off, only flipping all 4 heads once during the best of 3, however the list was a bit different, playing a Regirock and Stark Mountain combo, and just some other little odd things that I guess just made it good enough

At Georgia, the winning combo seemed to be Mesprit. Second place, also Machamp had Uxie Lv.X. G decks well represented too.

Thanks Ethan, but it was mostly misplaying on my part and his ability to get heads on a critical Super Scoop Up, saving his poisoned Machamp with twelve damage counters on it. I also didn't expect him to play three Baltoys and three Claydols.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I like that "I misplayed" stuff. There is a way of thought in sports that says you don't disparage your opponent's ability by saying he won by luck or your own mistakes. In football, a bad ref call can be critical, but any smart coach or player will say that it wasn't decided on one play or another, but a combination of things, including how well the other team played. Have I every misplayed and lost a tournament? Sure! Is luck 50% or more of this game? Sure! But we knew that going in.

So, Adam, why not just say you both played well, you both misplayed, you both had lucky strikes here and there, but the better deck won that day? And I'm not looking for a flame-off, I'm just stating my opinion.

I know that the focus of this thread is Masters but I would love to know if the same decks were popular in SR and JR our if there was more variety. For those Regionals that only reported Masters, would you mind adding SR and JR without the last names of players please?

Oh geez, Adam just HAD to show up didn't he >.>. Just kidding man.

I'm not trying to say that you played bad, or that he completely lucked you (because I am still remembering that Toxicroak donk from Game 1, haha) 3-3 Claydol probably did cause you a problem, and the SSU's in his deck were interesting.

I didn't pay attention the whole time, and yeah you did misplay a bit, but really, overall you did do well
