Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Whos going to San Diego Sand Storm Prerelease Tournament?

I would have reported the incident, however, my daughter did not mention it untill after we were halfway home and I was asking her about her matches. It didnt occur to her to mention it as she just shrugged it off and had fun reguardless.

You daughter is a VERY tolerant kind person. Let her know IT IS HER RIGHT even though she may be ok with the situation to let US know when someone is in the wrong...

Aaaah... makes sense...

*nods to Juan*

We really, really try to keep that type of behavior under a close watch...but unfortunately, circulating the room, we can't always catch all of it. Giving one of us a 'heads up' is always a good idea; we can make an extra effort to keep an eye on the player(s) involved and nip it in the bud.

Your daughter was very cute in her kitty-ears, BTW; I'm glad she had a good time. :)

Your daughters irrepressible cheer brought joy to a lot of us, as you can tell.

We really need to protect the young ones... I sat next to a match at the last SBZ where an 11 year old and his young teen crowd were letting into about a 7 year old about his understanding of the rules and his deck (not that their play was outstandingly clean). The badgering and mocking continued despite my 'interference' and match ended quickly before I could get a judge's attention (not a criticism of the judges).

So...how did it go!!!
Ashley and I were so upset that we couldn't make it. I take the blame, though. She came down with a miserable virus and I made the decision for her to stay home. I'm not very popular in our house right now!
Anyway, I saw Matt's roundup of the tournament, but how did the rest go? How were the side events? Did a lot of people show?
Hopefully next time we won't miss out!

There were no side events. It was cut short because we were taking too long for the main tournament, and the room was only reserved for us until 8. But, people were able to drop out of the tournament to play Pokémon Pinball: R/S on the TV to win boosters or to battle on there gameboys.

I think I heard the number 57 when a kid said that was how many people there were, but he may have meant in an age division.

Actually, people did NOT drop from the tourney to play Pinball or GBA...they did that between rounds.

Karl (the TO) posted that there were 60 players: 59 in the prerelease and one who came strictly for the GBA side event. 33 of those were 15+; 16, 11-14; 10, -10.

Sorry you and Audrey couldn't make it! :( Hope to see you both, next time...

Very smooth event. Our TO says, next prerelease will have events in more places, incl. L.A.

Interesting fact --- our rooms were named, by the hotel, Stadium I & II. I guess this is because of Jack Murphy, er, Qualcomm Stadium being nearby, but I still think that is cool for a Pokemon tourney.

There was new software from POP (pokemon organized play) that ran the tourney pairings/results. So, DCI will give way to POP.

Chrisbo's daughter, Jen, won the 11-14 main event. Woo-hoo!

Sandstorm didnt' seem to be collated well for sealed play, the way LC was; so, this made sealed format a bit less fun for competition, but it was nice to see/trade the new cards. Someone said Target had Sandstorm packs that day, so maybe the pre- part was spoiled a bit.

Well, that's all I can add at the moment. You might not be popular at home, but thanks for not bringing someone with the flu to the event. Introduce yourself if someone ever points me out at an event. I'll make sure your daughter gets something nice.

I called some Targets today... one actually said they did have the packs, but when a friend got there, they were no where to be seen!! *sigh* Once again, really smoothly run, loved the event. PS.. if by any chance they need to have a place to run a tourny, Game Empire can hold around 50 ish people... so in any case we could be a last resort. Just a suggestion (not that being the first resort wouldn't be nice either  )

Isn't there supposed to be some agreement that they are not allowed to sell the cards before the release date? I don't think a big company like Target would break that kind of agreement, if there is one.
