I dont know whats wrong with me.....i cant catch any legendaries that i want to...i would think that not everyone is gonna cheat to get masterballs to catch all the legendaries like Mespirit, Uxie, Azelf, Heatran, and all the others that there are....I was just trying to catch Heatran the other night and i had lowered its defence, spec defence, and attack as low as they could go and i had false swiped its hp as low as it could go and it was paralyzed. but i still couldn't catch it with an ultra ball or a dusk ball when it was at night AND in a cave. The same thing happened when i tried to catch Uxie and the only reason i have one now is i traded for it on the GTS. the only legendary i have caught without masterball is Azelf. What am i supposed to do to catch these pokemon? Is there some secret or am i just cursed? Any advice would be appreciated...

Cursed =/ All legendarys are hard to catch, some people are more lucky that others, just be persistant.

yeah i heard that rumor and ive also heard if you persistantly tap the A button it will be easier to catch. My real question is if there is a special condition that is best to afflict the wild pokemon with because paralysis isn't working and when the only combat stat im not lowering is spec attack then i know theres something other than stat lowering that needs to be done. i actually have been persistant and that has not worked because even if i just keep throughing balls it dosn't work. the same thing i said happened with Heatran happened with regigigas. they just refuse to be caught!!!!!

Oh no, not having to put hard work into catching legendaries!

Anyway, yes, as that page shows, the only factors that influence catch rate are the Pokémon's HP, its raw status effects, and the ball being used. Things like lowering its defense have no effect aside from the placebo effect.

Well, dont even think for a second im asking for an easy way to catch a legenday other than using a masterball. I may not be a veteran pokemon player but im smart enough to know it DOES take ALOT or work to catch a legendary. But considering the fact that i am not a veteran, what on earth does placebo meen?!

Placebo means that you only think it's actually doing anything. In other words, stuff like "shout into the microphone" or "hold the A button" and so on don't actually do anything, but you think they do anyway. Hence, they're placebo effects.

What i do is i get say 50 plus of the Pokeballs i wanna use to catch them with. Then get up to them and save. I noramlly try a few practice runs to see which pokemon has the best moves to knock it down and not out. Without getting creamed itself. Then i basically use some sort of move strategy to get them at a low hp etc. And then toss the Pokeballs. I caught Heatran twice, but didn't like it's stats. Same with the Uxie, And Azelf. Cresselia was a challenge, but Mesprit was even worse. I got so tired of him breaking out. It takes constant trys to get them. Sometimes you can get them in one shot, others may take time. In Diamond i caught Uxie and Azelf in the first couple Ultra Balls.

yeah well back when i played ruby alot i was trying to catch latios and catching him is just like catching mespirit. it wasn't exactly hard to find him and encounter him and he kept all his stat afflictions and conditions, but he just refused to be caught and unless you used mean look or something like that he would run on his first turn so i just used a masterball.and does throughing balls affect them in any way? does it lower they're defence or make them more immune to the ball? because i can get plenty of any kind of ball no problem there. im just trying to catch the legendaries to be able to say
"yeah, I did it.". and to get they're info into the dex obviously.

Throwing a Pokeball does not alter the Pokemon in anyway. Now i have heard from people in the past, indicating that a Pokeball as catch rate aside from the normal rate. Meaning that if you toss the same Pokeball, it will have a different catch rate each time. Like you toss it at Heatran, and it breaks without even moving once. Reset the game, and it might twitch once or twice. It's all by chance really. Now when i go after the running ones. I use Wobbuffet, as he has the ability shadow tag. I know many people say to use Mean Look, etc. But if the Legendary is faster than the Pokemon that has the move. It'll run before it's even used the move. Shadow Tag is automatic, in R/S i had like 5 Wobbuffets which were easy to get in Safari zone. So when one was getting beat pretty good, i would switch out for another one. I had one space open for any other Pokemon mainly incase i needed to let him flee so he wouldn't knock himself out (When i ran his attacks down too far) Then i'd save and chase him down to catch him.

Don't feel bad about being bad at Pokemon (Replying to your Signature) I'm not super good either. I've played all the games, but get me in a Real Tourney. And i'd lose in no time.

poor umbreon....well when i say im bad at pokemon i refer to both the cards and the games although im almost done with a new deck.

If an Ultra Ball is 2, a Dusk Ball (when used properly) is 3.

EDIT: If you can get a pokemon into the red and alseep in less than five turns a timer ball is by far your best option; if an Ultra ball is 2 (with a pokeball being 1), then a Timer Ball when used in the first five turns is a 4.
