Why did tzps die?

Put in simple, why did TZPS die?
It was great if u had a turn one set up, and with all the new EX Pokemon, wouldn't TZPS become better? I mean the oppiritunity to set up a tornadus EX, zekrom, mewtwo. Would be huge and would hustle ur opponent out of the game? So why did it die?

It was a one trick poney. You won if you donked or beat your opponent quickly but you fell behind the longer the game lasted. Eels gives you a slower Start but a much much stronger mid to late game. That is why ZPST died.

Because the deck really only worked because it could OHKO anything in the format during the first few turns. Once the EXes came out, it lost a lot of ground.

Isnt Taps the funeral bugle song for the military? Fitting title, since ZPS is dead. ZEEL is far more consistent.

I saw the thread and thought you were referring to calling out tap to not cut a deck lol...

CMT is a better, more versatile, and more consistent version of it. Basically everything ZPST wished it could be. With that said, donking Tornadus EX's with Zekrom BLW is pretty tempting.

Well, one of the most important cards that ruined it (IMO) is Mewtwo, since Zekrom dies after Bolt Striking to a Mewtwo + DCE. You may or may not have Eviolite, but the thing is the new EXs had too much HP. ZPST had to get a kill turn 1 or 2 and onwards from there. It just isn't do able with all these EXs that hit heavy for low Energy investment,

I played the deck for a while and I can say 100% that the deck is not dead. It has a very positive dark matchup, perhaps a slightly unfavorable eel matchup, and a favorable cmt matchup. You just need to work out a strong list.
