Why don't people post tournament winning decks?

Like from Nationals, States, Worlds, etc? I just started playing pokemon a little while ago and I wanted something to go off of and I couldn't find anything.

I just wanted to know?

If you want to see the Worlds decklists, go pick up one of the replica Worlds decks at your local game or department store. Though outdated, they will give you a good feel as to how a tournament-winning deck is made.

Also, if you go look at the different forums for those events, you will find some lists in the players reports.

Some people do. Some don't. Since no winning lists are ever shared by POP players are fully aware that they have no responsibility to do so.

Generally those who don't share feel like others would gain an advantage if they did so. They don't want their opponents to know all of their deck's techs and whatnot. To them it’s about competitive advantage.

Others feel like they put all the effort into making the deck, why give that away for free? It would be like someone building a car and then letting anyone who wants to drive it at no charge.

Some go half way and give most of the contents out in their reports but don't post the exact list. Reading the report carefully will give you most of the deck but they want others to actually put effort in to make a build ... usually for one or both of the reasons above.

And finally some folks do share their lists. Some do it out of a desire to help the community, some do it to brag, and a few just feel like a certain deck is of no further use to them so they really don’t care what others do with it.

Personally I wish that all winning lists were published on the official site. One of the things I like least about the Pokemon community is the cult of secrecy. It makes perfect sense to me why it’s there now give that lists aren’t published but it really divides the community as a whole. You pretty much have to join a team or be friends with other good players to improve, since that’s the best way to get access to winning lists. The net result is a bunch of cliques. This debate seems to happen at least once a year. I don’t really expect change at this point.

Anyway if you really want to find the good deck lists what you do is:

a) Read the tournament reports. You can gain a lot from them even if there isn’t a full list in many cases.

b) Read the what won XYZ threads. This will give you a good idea of which pokemon are worth looking into more.

c) Read the deck help forums. There are a few winning decks posted there and a very few thoughtful people post very good lists there. Even the bad lists can sometimes give you new ideas. It will take time and effort to learn to distinguish who the people most worth listening to are here.

d) Read the other parts of the gym, especially the Front Page articles. Those are written especially to be accessible to new players these days. The card and news areas also frequently have good insight from folks.

e) Try to network with other players.

I won't post my decks, however after worlds, I will post the deck I played in Worlds because it is no longer legal. However during the year I don't want to give others in my area an idea of what I am playing because they could tech against me.

people do, but it takes time to post it everywhere for every pokemon message board.
another reason people may not do this is cards rotate after worlds so posting a card for card list is almost pointless

Ok. Thanks for your help. I mainly wanted to know this because I can't figure out what to put with Rampardos. He's awesome but, nothing really goes with him (that I can figure out).

^ I've seen Rampardos played with Blissey PT (for healing) and Broken Time-Space (for rapid evolution). Seems to work well.

Like others have said I don't ever expect to see the winning list for the next event posted here. However, if you look hard enough you should be able to find general lists for the like "arch type" lists. This are very important to at least understand the mechanics of the most likely pokemon/cards that you will face.

Here are a couple of places you could look: Use the search tool the top of the page and search for the Pokemon that you interested in in the card strategy (better) and deck help forums.

What won threads (better for Battle Roeads and Cities).

Guessing threads about the meta-game http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=89882

Grab and Go - this is a new thread that can be helpful http://pokegym.net/forums/showthread.php?t=91382

Good luck

All i'm gonna say is people just don't like to post their list due to the good players will know what they might play. Also to talk from experience some players might try to copy the deck or use a variation.

I'm with the community in hoping winning list are posted but understand why they arent.

I would have no problems with posting my tournament winning decklists, but I haven't won a Premiere Event since 2003...

I post my decks up sometimes. If a new set comes out or a rotation I will post my list(s) up for kicks. I think that I spend alot of time perfecting my decks and it is unfair for some person to search the internet for a couple of minutes and get a free tournament-winning list. I also don't post up my lists sometimes because the top players in my area can catch onto my still of deckbuilding and tech against my style or learn to much. I may sound paranoid but, I am just playing it safe.
