Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

wilhung53's CA State Championship Report

hey Will, i noticed something, in your T4 match you lost, you gave yourself a credit for a win instead

other than that, great job on 3rd!

Wy does will not use Swoops in his deck? Isn't this a big part of the deck?
Naw. This deck is all about winning the prize game. Go behind after exploding, using POW to get to the bench and/or removing energy, using Scramble to power up everything, playing Admin to choke your opponent's hand, etc. It's impossible to beat if you don't play the prize game correctly (like I did against Ross at Worlds 2006).

The only thing I'd change about the deck is I'd try to fit in a Pokemon Retriever.

It seems like being able to swoop for a voltorb at the right time would be important though. All the other deck lists that I have seen use Swoop so I thought it was an integral part of the process.

TaCC: I've actually asked a Chinese lady (could be your mom or relative) to find out if it was okay to take the pizza and soda, and she nodded. I apologize if there's any misunderstandings. Also, I saw many others were taking pizza and drinks, but perhaps they've paid for it?

General public: I've mistyped the report reporting a win (8-2) instead of a loss (7-3), in terms of numbers in the top 4 match. My bad.

Martin: I certainly could relax more, because then perhaps I can make better in-game decisions in close games, and when it counts the most.

Regarding Swoop! Teleporter: I wasn't sure if I wanted a 4th Rare Candy or a single Swoop! Teleporter. But I think with Rock Lock being so dominant at CA States, I may go with Swoop! Teleporter.
