Worlds Report 2010 4th Place Miguel Garcia Switzerland

The World Championships are over and we gote a winner.
This year a guy from Japan won. I lost to him in the semi-finals. Congrats to your winstreak at worlds.
Tuesday evening my voyage starts. At the Airport in Zürich I had to stay awake the whole night cause my plaine departed at 7 o’clock and I had no chance to be at the airport at this time with a later train. After 7 long hours I could check in and I met a nice Lady from America who had a brother in law in Turkey who is a physicist. At 7 o’clock the flight departet towards England where i met Alex Stauffer and his parents. In England we had to Check in big time but im glad that i made it to the boarding on time. At the waiting area we met the Belgian Championesse Helga and the French Vice Champion Christoph. The conversation was really nice and I think it’s interresting to swap our knowledge with other player from Europe. After that we were heading to L.A.. It was a great fligt. I met Alessandro Cremascoli the Italian Champ , Rosa and Marco.
The Dad of Alex gave me some medicin which helped me because the pressure wasn’t so good for me. In L.A we immediately need to check in because the flight to Hawaii was about to leave. Wednesday evening we arrived in Hawaii. I’m glad that I could drive to the Hotel with Alex Family. And thanks for the good food btw :D
At 10 o’clock the german and austrian players arrived at the Hitlon.
It was a pleasure to meet David Sturm and Basti Hayen. They are also members of Team Delta.
Sebastian and I had our B-Days on the 12th of August so we had to party a little bit :p
Thanks for the great present Basti and Timm gave me :D
On Thursday we just had to chill at the beautiful poolside.
Basti needed to play LCQ so he decided to play Machamp, but he got 2 losses after 3 wins so he decided to drop.
In the evening I helped David to get hist passport back and to book the flight to Honolulu for him Yasmin and Denny.
Friday we just watched the LCQ and tested a little bit. Thanks to Denny for the great tip with Roserade and VS Seeker :D
After all I additionaly dropped the Mew2 Counter from my list what was not a bad decision.

Heres my list:
2-2 Garchomp C SV
2-2 Luxray Gl RR
1 Crobat G PT
1 Roserade Gl PT
1 Chatot MD
1 Bronzong g PT
2 Entei Raikou Legend Pieces UL
1 Lucario Gl RR
1 Ambipom G RR
1 Toxicroak G Promo
1 Azelf LA
2-1 Uxie LA

3 Communication
1 VS Seeker
3 Rosie Research
1 Bebes Search
1 Aarons
3 Radar
4 Turn
4 Cyrus
3 Spray
3 Gain

4 Call
4 DCE
3 Lightning
1 Fire
1 Psychic

1. Round vs Joseph Sanchez (US) (Donphan w/ techs)

He flipped 3 tails on SSU. I sprayed his Uxie and Giratina and we traded prizes 'till I won.

1-0

2. Round vs Hampus Eriksson (SW-NC) (Featured Match) (Flygon/Torterra)

I knew he'd play Flyterra, so I planned things in advance, especially locking w/ Roserade is important in that matchup, if timed correctly. He went first with Baltoy, I started with Luxray. I locked his Claydol early, his setup was average, so I got rid of his Turtwig first. After he used Bronzong 4 I tried to lock him with Roserade again, but he played Warp Point and we started trading prizes. In the end, I finished him with ERL.
Well played, Hampus.

2-0

3. Round vs Tsugyoshi Yamato (JP-LCQ) (LuxChomp w/ techs)

I respected him a lot and the game was very balanced, in the beginning. We traded prizes until he started to reduce my hand to nothing with Purugly and Absol. I had Cyrus, Spray and Ambipom on my hand and he hit Ambipom w/ Baleful Wind. He lost soon after that, but he's a fair player, respect for that!

3-0

4. Round vs Yasmin Kiss (DE) (Gyarados w/ AMU)

This matchup wasn't in my favor from the very moment we started. I got 3 prizes from ERL, but that wasn't enough to win.

3-1

5. Round vs Michael Pramawat (US) (Plox w/ Machamp)

I was quite surprised when I saw Machamp, but it didn't do anything in this game. We traded prizes early, he locked me but couldn't get a prize.

4-1

6. Round vs Matthew Koo (CA) (Plox w/ Pokehealer)

I had no chance to win. His setup was superior, he used double healer on his Gardevoir and I couldn't do anything after that. Good Game, tho.

4-2

7. Round vs Colin Stromberg (LuCchomp)

He played 3-1 Garchomp which turned out to be good vs mirror. My german friend Denny told me to Snap Attack his Garchomp's w/o Energy, which wasn't that efficent. I had to sudden death w/ ERL. It was very exciting, but he won.

4-3

I wasn't sure whether my tiebreaker was good enough for Top32, but apparently it was, so I topcutted @28th seed.

Top 32 vs Aziz Al-Yami (US-LCQ) (Chen Lock)

Game 1: I had a quick Garchomp C and didn't play Azelf because I know that'd put me in a disadvantage after a Luring Flame.
Game 2: Double Heads on Initiative.
Game 3: Before we started the Judge called timeout, he went first with Sableye, I started with Luxray. He did his thing with Sableye, I played Communication, searched for Roserade, played turn and locked him. He couldn't do anything, so he scooped.

5-3

Top 16 vs Colin Stromberg (LuxChomp)

Colin remembered everything (which I didn't), so I just gonna quote this game from his report.

Good game, Colin.

6-3

Top 8 vs Wai Kit Lam (HK) (LuxChomp w/ Dragonite and Infernape)

Game 1: Very tough game. I could barrely pull it off.
Game 2: I topdecked everything. I 6-1'd him.

7-3

Yasmin just lost, which made me somewhat sad.

Top 4 vs Yuta Komatsuda (JP) (LuxChomp w/ Dragonite and Dialga)

Game 1: We traded prizes, but I couldn't win the prize exchange after he got Dragonite out.
Game 2: He topdecked everything. I scooped soon and wished him luck for the final.

7-4

I Thank to Volt (Marc Lutz) and Sebastian Hayen for Translating my Report

See ya in San Diego
