Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds Report

Ahahahaha@ ShadowTogetic. Next on the list? Learn how to climb a ladder :D

And MathAenya: Thanks. Both of them were really cool and good sports. The nice thing about this year at Worlds is every single player I played against was an enjoyable experience. In terms of sportsmanship, this was the best I'd seen at Worlds ever.

The other thing I noticed is that the foreign players have gotten SO much better over the past 2-3 years. I don't mean this as an insult, simply that in the beginning years of Worlds, the foreign competition had been rather lackluster. Now, it is a completely different story. I am so glad to see that the tournament truly is a global event now.

nice report! i don't know you all too well, but i did talk to you for a brief instant between rounds.

also, one of my friends from Ohio happens to know you apparently. Her name is Julie, if that rings a bell, heh.

Julie P? ASSUMING thats correct, yeah, I know her :) We drove to a few cities together at the beginning of the season. Shes really cool.

Be lucky I talked to you in between rounds, usually I charge ;) jk. Its always great to be able to meet a bunch of new people at these events, its half the fun, even if by the end of the week you'll be so overwhelmed with new acquaintances that your head hurts :p

Congrats Chris!
It's always a pleasure to read your report and about your "making-of" your decks.
For this reason, i think it will be sad if you decide to don't keep playing next year and to pass to the judge side, even if i think that the judge staff will get an extraordinary member!!

About the Palkia lock game, i think that it can happen under lock that Cynthia's/Chatot don't help to overcome the power lock, but what it is strange is that your big Machamp line and trainer engine (2-1-2 with 4 Roxy, 4 Bebe's, 2 Luxury) the Machamp didn't come in game to help you in your 3 games.
I could have understood it in a list forced to cut a Rosanna and a Luxury in order to find some spaces, but it's strange that it happened in a list with such a good balancement.
I think that the karma wanted to hit you after it helped you in round1 and round3!

By the way, congrats again about your good placement and i hope to read about you next season too!

Congrats on top cut Fulop. I was always a few inches away from you but you were always in a crowd with other players lol. Maybe I'll get a chance to meet you/battle at nats/worlds.

Your reports are always good reads, and this one was no exception.
Thanks for taking the time to write them down.

Regarding not setting up vs the SP decks: It is statistically very improbable for my deck not to set up, and to have those sort of issues. None the less, of all the decks in the format, Palkia Lock is by FAR the best at capitalizing on any sort of subpar start. I firmly believe had I been playing vs any other deck, that my starts could have been salvaged ( I could have gotten Claydol up and running...which just doesn't help enough vs Palkia and its chain of unforgiving Mesprit )

Palkia is one of my absolute favorite cards, and I'm glad to see it do well on the weekend.

Congratulations, nice deck. Balls in top 32, and yea, its all about matchups/luck. Proven by two quality players using the deck and you only top 32ing and sami coming 2nd. But what can u do, nice work

I'd say that having all 3 representatives making top cut in the hardest Worlds yet is something I should be proud of? Like I need the ego. Heh.

For reference, the changes I made for playing pickup games post worlds were: -1 Duskull, -1 Dusknoir, +1 Mewtwo +1 Mewtwo Lvl X, -1 Luxury Ball +1 Psychic Energy, -1 Premier Ball, +1 Lucian.

Lucian NEEDS to be a 2 of. The card is TOO good. I had issues getting out Dusknoir, to be honest. And when you can, its hard to do so in one turn, where the "surprise" lets you capitalize on game state. I feel that the deck, due to Machamp and Ditto, had enough mirror game. I guess you have a floating " chain" spot, be it Mewtwo, Dusknoir or Nidoqueen depending on what matchups you want to strengthen.
