Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

worst pokemon card set ever?

Three words: Base Set Two.
All reprints of cards less than a year old. Not even alternate art. Not a single new card.
We don't even list it in the Researching Tower.

You want to know what nearly killed this game?

Base.
Set.
Two.

Hahaha that's true, zero effort was put into that set. I'm sure if hadn't been just a little four year old who loved pokemanz I would have been seriously disappointed.
If it could recoup from that, call of legends should be nothing.

To answer this question, we must look at collector value and value to the set. Not looking at either side would be a crime (the OP has been convicted and is now going to court for his/her horrible action of doing so). Since it is pretty safe to say that collecting value is subjective, a lot of sets have collector value. Any set that gives people a reason to collect is safe to say it isn't bad. For example, sets with Unonw in them gave you the chance to collect all Unown. Sets with "teh shinez" give you a chance to get all of "teh shinez". Reprint sets are terrible for collectors as they already had most of the cards, and new art isn't usually appealing for players. Now then, most sets have some good cards. Many players regard to Emerald as a very bad set. Scott and Battle Frontier came from it, so I would say it isn't "horrible". I would say that the worst set would be one that didn't impact the format at all. For those reasons, Base Set 2 would be my worst set of all time. Who thought that reprinting an entire set was a good idea, again? People already had everything in collection and in format. It was just a worthless set :)

Wasn't Base Set 2 released as a filler since there was a long delay between Fossil & Rocket? If I recall correctly, Fossil was released in October 1999 (wow) and Base Set 2 was released as a filler set in February 2000, before Rocket was released in mid-April. And then there was a quick acceleration, as Gym 1 came out in July, Gym 2 in September, and Neo 1 in December.

Ever since then, though, I think the release schedules have become much more regular.

My least favorite set is Supreme Victors. Although there are some good scattered cards in the set, most of the set is horribly under-powered, and almost all the good cards are rares or holos. And with a significantly larger number of cards than other recent sets, you were a lot more likely to pull undesired cards.

Call of Legends, followed by Base Set 2, but that may be just because it's been so long since Base Set 2 that I forgot what it was like when it came out.

Call of Legends is by far the WORST set i have ever seen. The holos have the same attacks as the "shinys" or whatever their called...just goes to show how lazy pokemon has become and how their trying to "help" the game by slowing it back down to base set. (not working imo)

I really don't see all the hate towards supreme victor.....wasn't nearly as horrible as COL is or BS2 was....

I guess everyone who is saying supreme victors doesn't know that Garchomp C Lv.X came from it. Anyways, base set 2 is, and will forever be the worst set ever printed.

CoL. The most powerful card in it, Lost World, makes the other possibly playable lost link cards in it just an idea. The Ultra Rares weren't even playable.

Here's my thought on Call of Legends...

If you didn't already know that most of the cards in this set were already printed in other sets, or if you were a newbie to the game, what would you think about it?

IMO, CoL is a great set! It's just that those that have already invested in other (IMO worse) sets already have the cards from CoL that they need. For those that haven't invested in 3 of the 4 HS sets, I'm recommending CoL and HGSS as their sets of choice.

COL , Hands down. Most of us weren't playing when base set 2 came out, and it looks like COL is another Base set 2 on steroids......

What about Lenegdary Collection?

Legendary Collection was a great set!

Sure, it was all reprints, but it brought a lot of good cards back into the Modified format and it was the ONLY set that was designed for limited play! You got 2 Basics and a Stage 1 of the same line in a pack, or, for the rarer lines, one and one.
Quite often you'd get a 2-1-1 line in one pack!

Give someone 4-6 packs of this set and they can make a very playable deck!
