Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

would a 'thin' PSA-10 set be rarer than a 'thick' 1st edition one?

haha nothing wrong with being proud of your collection :thumb:. Seems like you spent a lot of time (and money) putting it together. Thanks for all the advice. I will certainly look into getting it graded soon.

Thank you not many people get their Pokemon cards graded which to me though stressful is worth it IMO, one should get their cards graded primarily because it adds authenticity and protection, getting cards graded because it adds 'value' should be secondary if at all and I would advise not to grade anything that anyone would deem NM or below if you're thinking of selling since like I said a card with a low grade can actually greatly devalue your card.

Nah, I would never think about selling it. I would say the condition of the card is certainly nm-m, nothing wrong that I can see but then again i'm not a professional grader. Ever since I got it I wanted to make sure it was properly protected so i'm definitely going to look into it.

As well you should:thumb: What you need to look for are any nicks, dents, blemishes or anything else that may have changed the original condition of the card, now the general rule of thumb for graders is if a condition-flaw is seen on the front of the card drop it down at least two grades and if there is a flaw on the back of the card at least one grade however if the flaw on the back is 'microscopic' then leave it be and grade it a 10, this however rarely happens.

From what I can tell after looking over the card there are no scratches on the foil mewtwo or anywhere else for that matter, no dents or dings on the edges and no whitening. Looks really good. Thanks for all the help! oh, I was reading on their site that you need to become a member...so does that mean I have to pay for a membership subscription and the cost to get it graded? Also, what type of grading service would you recommend since it seems to be based on the estimated value of the card??

Yes membership requires a fee:frown: The least expensive being 'silver-membership' costs I think $50.

As far as sending Pokemon cards in you may declare their $value$ any way you like or any other card I believe for that matter, the value declaration is for shipping insurance purposes. However when you do claim cards a t certain values certain grading fees become 'mandatory' for example you may submit a card with a declared value of $100 with a 'regular-grade service' which costs $15 per card or you may decide the top grading service that is 'Premium' which costs $250 per card, however if you have a card that you declare to be $10k+ then it would become mandatory for the grader to submit through Premium-grade service and all other grading options become null and void.

Alright, but at least its worth it. As for the grading price, I will take the middle of the road service for $60 , not too slow and not too expensive. You mention something about an N9 rating? Since this has never been graded will I have to send some type of documentation tom prove that its authentic, or would the fact that your no.1 trainer counterpart was graded be enough?

PSA is tricky with their grading, for example along with the TMB and SSB I had sent in a '97 trophy pika card, ironically PSA refused to grade the trophy pika claiming they had already graded one and according to them there is only one in the world when there are in fact two one for those under 14 or 12 I forgot what the cut off point was and for those who were over 12 or 14. I didn't have to send in any formal documentation and in fact I have never heard of anyone having formal documentation with these cards anyway. If your card does get slapped with an N9 mention they already graded one of very similar kind. There are some cards that PSA refuses to grade that I have come across like Umbreon player's club promo card, 9th lucky hawaii stadium and the prerelease-raichu these cards I know from personal experience do not grade no matter what you try to do, I just hope that won't be the fate of the '97 pika which by the way PSA messed up on years back since they mistook the '98 one for the '97 one and the '99 one for the '98 one.

Wow thats confusing...sorry to hear that about your 97 pikachu, did they ever fix their mistake? I will call PSA for more info. and to see if the card can be graded. Thanks again for all the help.

They are going to fix the mistake or I'll find away to press suit. ATM the cards are being shipped back to me so once I get it back I'm sending it back with a nice well thought out letter saying why the card can be graded and if they slap an N9 on it without consulting me first like they did last time I'm going to try to talk to the president of PSA about all of that.
