Posting about a current ebay auction in a collector's forum is one sure way to drive up the bidding on the cards you want.
So I was surfing on Ebay and I found an auction...
Somebody selling a FULL 102 card base set ALL cards are 1st edition and none of the cards are graded!?
ALL the holographics including Charizard are in mint condition!
I'm going to put a bid in when the time comes closer to end
Lots of costs to take into account if you are wanting to profit for a graded card that you have not bought yet
Cost of:
the cards + shipping
a membership to get cards graded
Grading fees
shipping/packaging to the place of grading
return shipment cost charged by place of grading
listing/selling/paypal fees(if on ebay for example)
... and probably others, that is just what comes to mind.
The cards may be mint.. may not be. I have only been able to get 1 or 2 true mint sets off of eBay before. Most of the time the collector does not check every card with a high standard.
I have had over $1300 in returns for "mint" base 1st edition holos this month, for 1 set alone. It is unbelievable what sellers try to pass as "mint" sometimes. Get pictures of the backs if possible!
I started making money by buying and reselling bulk cards.

the charizard themselves would get you 650 resell, the other 15 would get 40 bucks average, and the rares would be 10. then you could sell the common/uncommons bulk for a couple hundred?

Where did you get $650? Shadowless 1st edition charizards sell for $350 max, and those are for mint condition ones. I could see you maybe getting $200 for a poor condition one, but nowhere near $325 a piece. I hope you meant per card too, as $650 for one Charizard is insane, and downright doesn't happen unless the Chairzard is graded.
Would also like to point out that you can get most of the holos for around $25, not $40. Again, $40 would be if they were in Mint condition, and if you were a reputable seller on eBay. I picked up most of my rares for around $3 a pop as well. T&T prices are not the norm, and should never be considered as such. People pay that much for cards from them because they are paying a premium for buying from a reputable seller. Lower sellers such as you and I do not have such a luxury.
This is why you should research more before you buy, as you would have bid much, much higher thinking that the cards would have sold for more than they do.
for both 650. theyve been going for 250-350 (average condition from an individuals collection) the last few months on the bay and can probably get 350 'but it now' since most resellers have them at above 400. you can obviously find each card in the set cheaper if you wait around or get lucky but most buyers on the bay don't seem to shop around or have patience.
i usually throw in about half of what i think id get, a bit less. threw in a bid earlier but im very hesitant to re sell high price cards. i list a high price and offer 'make an offer' and accept depending on the buyers rep
