So I was surfing on Ebay and I found an auction...

Somebody selling a FULL 102 card base set ALL cards are 1st edition and none of the cards are graded!?

ALL the holographics including Charizard are in mint condition!

I'm going to put a bid in when the time comes closer to end

Posting about a current ebay auction in a collector's forum is one sure way to drive up the bidding on the cards you want.

Oh I just saw that auction... It's going to go over $1000

[EDIT] I think he ships only in the U.S so place a bid to make sure you can bid on it.

Lots of costs to take into account if you are wanting to profit for a graded card that you have not bought yet

Cost of:
the cards + shipping
a membership to get cards graded
Grading fees
shipping/packaging to the place of grading
return shipment cost charged by place of grading
listing/selling/paypal fees(if on ebay for example)

... and probably others, that is just what comes to mind.

The cards may be mint.. may not be. I have only been able to get 1 or 2 true mint sets off of eBay before. Most of the time the collector does not check every card with a high standard.

I have had over $1300 in returns for "mint" base 1st edition holos this month, for 1 set alone. It is unbelievable what sellers try to pass as "mint" sometimes. Get pictures of the backs if possible!

I agree with Rusty.. a lot of people states mint.. but it's only the front of the card... the back might look horrible!

Oh right... god damn I'm such a novice lmao...

Does anybody want to add me on skype/aim/facebook/anything to help me along? and maybe teach me a few things?

They are not nm/mint. He sent me photos of the two charizards and they are not in that good of condition.

I started making money by buying and reselling bulk cards.

Same here, but you got to be cognizant of all the costs involved, kinda like what Rusty was talking about. If you don't factor in all the costs, what appears to be a good deal may cost you in the end.

If we're talking about the same listing the description says not all the cards are in NM/M condition. Also in the item specifics it says:

"Most are Near Mint/Mint: A flawless card to almost flawless card. A very minor damage may be spotted.Very few are Excellent: A card that may show multiple hairline scratches and/or whitening around the edges. The extra Charizrd is in Excellent condition"

With it being a 102 card set there's a lot of wiggle room

the charizard themselves would get you 650 resell, the other 15 would get 40 bucks average, and the rares would be 10. then you could sell the common/uncommons bulk for a couple hundred?

Where did you get $650? Shadowless 1st edition charizards sell for $350 max, and those are for mint condition ones. I could see you maybe getting $200 for a poor condition one, but nowhere near $325 a piece. I hope you meant per card too, as $650 for one Charizard is insane, and downright doesn't happen unless the Chairzard is graded.

Would also like to point out that you can get most of the holos for around $25, not $40. Again, $40 would be if they were in Mint condition, and if you were a reputable seller on eBay. I picked up most of my rares for around $3 a pop as well. T&T prices are not the norm, and should never be considered as such. People pay that much for cards from them because they are paying a premium for buying from a reputable seller. Lower sellers such as you and I do not have such a luxury.

This is why you should research more before you buy, as you would have bid much, much higher thinking that the cards would have sold for more than they do.

for both 650. theyve been going for 250-350 (average condition from an individuals collection) the last few months on the bay and can probably get 350 'but it now' since most resellers have them at above 400. you can obviously find each card in the set cheaper if you wait around or get lucky but most buyers on the bay don't seem to shop around or have patience.

i usually throw in about half of what i think id get, a bit less. threw in a bid earlier but im very hesitant to re sell high price cards. i list a high price and offer 'make an offer' and accept depending on the buyers rep

I have paid $350-$450 for 1st edition Charizards if they are grade worthy with no visual flaws. If I feel it's a 9 with a possibility of being a 10. I will take the risk.

Not sure where you are finding people to pay this much for them, but please let me know. To prove they are not going for $400+, look here.

If you notice, the only one that went for close to $400 was a graded one. Most of them didn't even sell for $300. Not sure where you and Haze are getting such high dollar amounts. I would also like to point out that the Charizards from the auction in question are not in NM condition, but rather EX/LP; again something else to consider when pricing a card.

I also looked up most of the reg holos, and some did sell for close to $40. However, this may have been 1 or 2 out of the 15-20 that had recently sold. These also sold that high because the sellers had 1000+ feedback.

I am not trying to disagree with you just for the sake of disagreeing, I just don't want you to spend copious amounts of money on something, and not make any profit. Bidding up to half of what you THINK it is worth is much different than bidding up to half what you KNOW it is worth.

Looks like the bidding is already over $1000, which is more than I would be willing to pay for it personally.

^ like I have said I have purchased a few for $400+. If they look like a 9 on PSA standards I have no problem paying this. With the three cards that I have purchased over $400. I have received a 10 and two 9s. That is a huge profit. Also most of the really good ones aren't sold through eBay. All three of mine I messaged the seller through eBay and paid just through PayPal. eBay completed listings are good but they don't show complete true value especially since expensive cards usually are sold outside eBay.

But if the card is in Nm or less I won't pay over $200 for one.
