Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Wow.

I was looking through my friend's cards when I found this.

What about it? A stage 1 Pokemon that needs to attack to get either a trainer in your hand or basics on your bench. So basically you're not ready to use those basics until T3 and your opponent is already attacking while you've used up resources to get out a drifblim. So no, it isn't WOW.

It definitely does look pretty cool though. 2 decent 0-energy attacks and free retreat! Maybe it would fit well in some kind of deck, probably not any of the current ones though.

Would be an interesting tech in an SP deck

Know what would be even ore interesting? A playset of Call Energy!

You don't even get to use those Basics until T3, by which time your opponent will have Bright Look/Dragon Rush/Target Attack/etc. whatever you put down on the bench. Call Energy is T1 and does essentially the same thing.

That's actually a fantastic card. Weakness is great, resistance is excellent! First attack is decent, second attack is excellent. 3rd attack could be worth attacking with, 60 with a belt ya know...

but if you play it with Mew prime you can start filling your bench turn 2:rolleyes:

For those on a budget, this card isn't as bad or as good as it seems. And yes, it's more of a recovery card mid game, and might even combo well with the newer driflblim coming out, since you could grab driflbloons and give them energy, and next turn evolve to the new drifblim then use DCE to shuffle both actives away.

Having actually played this card in a few decks I'm going to say
1. It does best in decks that have several different kinds of energy or main attackers that need 2+ energy attachments.
2. 2nd attack can be game altering. Trade a potential prize to get the card you need to win of the discard is amazing.
3. The format is fast enough that you will probably get 1 Delivery off at best. Make sure that the prize tradeoff for that is worth it.

Exactly. I used this a lot last summer when we were doing our Dirty Decks Done Dirt Cheap tournament, but that was a format where we were playing budget deck vs. budget deck only. Options like Call Energy couldn't be used because they were too expensive. While it was great in that context, I think the drawbacks are far too great to use it in competitive play.

For what it's worth, I liked pairing it with Starmie LA. I would use Lifting to get a pair of Starmies up and running. Fun. Drifloon could take a couple of hits because in that format, nobody was hitting too hard in the first couple of turns. But the deck fell in the face of Turtwig GL and Armaldo. So I guess it wasn't too useful even in that format. Still a good league card, though.
