About 30 Masters/5 Rounds Swiss/Top Cut 4

Alright, second cities report and yet again I run :water:Gyarados:water:

Round 1: Me(Gyarados) vs. PokeDad (Vilegar/Zangoose tech)
The game starts and he goes first with zangoose active and an oddish on the bench. He damages my active regice. I draw into a collector and explode. I end up getting a gyarados this turn with a belt and KO zangoose. He can't recover and I take 3 prizes in 4 turns for the game.
(1-0)

Round 2: Me(Gyarados) vs. ?? (Luxchomp)
I should know this players name as I have played him before. I overheard someone say he won a city championship in Tennessee the weekend before. I don't remember much about this game however a ket moment was when he had something irrelevant active and a bench with two luxray gl (one with an electric energy) and a garchomp c with a DCE attached. I use seeker and he picks up the luxray with no energy. I then use a cyclone energy and he promotes the other luxray gl! From there he only gets one luxray gl to hit for 120 but I use warp energy + seeker and its pretty much game from there.
(2-0)

Round 3: Me(Gyarados) vs. PokeDad (Luxchomp) with Garchomp SV instead of Garchomp C
I am terrible with names and I talk with this PokeDad all the time and I'm embarrassed I can't remember but his deck was really interesting. It used some of the SP engine but had Garchomp SV as the main attacker and its Pokebody became a huge problem. The game starts as mine usually does. I set up fast and take the first four prizes. However, he finally gets up two Garchomp SV and as I damage the first one, he discards my rescue energy and gets the return KO. I surprise him by using combee SF to get back a quick gyarados and return a KO. From there, he KO's my gyarados with speed impact + flash bite. I seeker combee, get another gyarados up and attach cyclone energy to take a cheap prize for the win!
(3-0)

Round 4: Me(Gyarados) vs. Justin Florio(Luxchomp)
Yes a third Luxchomp. However, I have played Justin before and I know he is 0-5 against gyarados in tournaments. One of those losses is to me :). So I remember very little of this match but I know he stuggles to keep up because I KO every attacker he uses. Whether through an expert belt or flash bites. I frustrate him late game when I get 2 seekers in my hand and a warp energy. Two turns in a row a manage to heal off major damage. Sorry Justin but Gyarados wins again!
(4-0)

Round 5: Me(Gyarados) vs. Marc (DialgaChomp)
This man is a GREAT player. With 2 first place cities and 1 second place cities he is rolling through his competition. He gets an early lead on me but I make a comeback and mid game we are tied up. After a KO he pulls out his secret tech his allows him to discard cards out of my hand. He hits my combee SF. I run no recovery besides combee and rescue energy. I can't get combee back so I cannot allow him to KO gyarados without a rescue energy. He has played me three times before and knows this. He uses poison to calculate the exact amount of damage needed to kill me with poison of flash bites. I use warp energy + seeker keeping the game close. At the end, gyarados is highly damaged and I have no rescue energy on it and with all four seeker used up. I have 2 prizes and he has one. The game is over but I take one last prize to say I only lost by 1 :). GG Marc
(4-1)

Top 4:
1st: Marc(DialgaChomp)(5-0)
2nd: David (BlazeChomp/Honchkrow Tech)(4-1)
3rd: Me(Gyarados)(4-1)
4th: James(Luxchomp)(4-1)

Round 6: Me(Gyarados) vs. David (BlazeChomp/Honchkrow Tech)
-Game 1: Not much to be said about this one. I get set up OK but am left with a TERRIBLE hand. He uses Honchkrow SV and "darkness restores" a magikarp onto the bench and limits my damage. I have no supporters or anything decent and am limited to 60 damage the entire game. No belts, no crobat g's. I eventually scoop. (0-1)
(4-2)

-Game 2: Even worse game. I get an initially terrible hand and am forced to bench magikarps to keep from losing. I get one gyarados up but it gets KO'd and I have all four magikarp in the discard, with no hand as Uxie's "set up" was sprayed. I draw into like 3 BTS all remaining Gyarados and energies for the rest of the game and lose bad... AGAIN. (0-2)
(4-3) or (4-2)

Its too bad I lost 2 terrible games with dreadful hands, especially when I was thinking about dropping at 4-1 as my and a friend had hockey tickets. I shouldv'e dropped because we missed the first half of the first period for no reason other than hurting my rating...

Lilburn, GA
30 Masters/5 Rounds Swiss/Top Cut 4

Hey everyone, I decided I liked the idea of having one big thread devoted to each and every cities I will play in, however, I did not plan this is advance so I did not take notes on the first report (Lilburn, GA). I will do my best to remember to take some notes in the future and I will do my best to remember what happened at this first tournament. Just so everyone knows, my name is Will and I play in GA and SC. I plan on running :water:Gyarados:water: throughout all of cities as I have been playing it for a little over a year and am very comfortable with the deck. Without further ado... heres my report:

Round 1: Me(Gyarados) vs. ??(Donphan)
Yes i know, basically an easy win. However, my opponent was one fighting energy away from donking my sableye. Luckily it didn't happen and I ended up running through about 3 of his pokemon by turn 4 or 5 and he had no bench left so I won earlier than expected.
(1-0)

Round 2: Me(Gyarados) vs. ??(Magnezone??)
Well, this was very intimidating as he flipped over magnemite. However, I absolutely exploded and got a belted gyarados with three magikarp in the discard by turn 2. i end up knocking out a magneton early and then used cyclone energies to pick off anything else he was trying to build. Again, I win before taking all 6 prizes.
(2-0)

Round 3: Me(Gyarados) vs. Marc(DialgaChomp) - He is Techmaster2kx on the gym!
This was a GREAT game! He gets an early deafen lock and slows my set up for a turn or two. However he makes a huge mistake my dropping an unown q without attaching it, the next turn a use a crobat and 2 poke turns to take a cheap early prize. We exchange prizes throughout the match and it stays pretty close. The biggest difference I found was he tended to attack my bench with garchomp c. Although he is taking prizes I was taking return KOs on his attacking pokemon. Of course this eventually left him with no real threats and my gyarados remained intact and relatively unscathed. A big note is this was the first match in which i got to pull of my favorite combo... He had poisoned my active gyarados and it had at least 120 damage on it. I knew poison would knock it out and bypass the rescue energy so I used a warp energy+seeker+BTS to evolve back to gyarados on the bench. I then retreated my active crobat g and attached the expert belt and continued to gain KOs.
(3-0)

Round 4: Me(Gyarados) vs. Justin(Luxchomp)
This wasn't the best start for either playing. Both of us get slow starts. Early on, he knocks out a benched magikarp by bright looking it and using "Bite". I then get a gyarados up and running but I did not have the magikarp in the discard to KO Luxray. I use a cyclone energy which forces him to bring up lucario c (his only other benched pokemon) and I KO using crobat drops. This effects the rest of the game, since he could not hit many supporters nor get back the lucario c. I end up winning a fairly close game. But huge props to cyclone energy, regimove, and the combo mentioned in the last game (warp energy+seeker+BTS+retreat)! On a side note, I actually let him borrow a luxray gl x for this tournament, so I'm glad that didn't backfire on me!
(4-0)

Round 5: Me(Gyarados) vs. Craig(Machamp)
This match was pretty straight forward. I avoid getting donked as he could not get a BTS or rare candy. After this, I get a great set up and get an early Gyarados. I end up OHKOing 2 machamps using tail revenge for 90+expert belt+double crobat drops. This allowed me to avoid him using "rage" to put any substantial damage on gyarados. He did take an early prize with "take out" and another prize with a relicanth tech my sniping a bench sableye.
(5-0)

Top 4:
1st: Me(Gyarados)(5-0)
2nd: Nathan(Gyarados)(4-1)
3rd: Marc(DialgaChomp)(4-1)
4th: Craig(Machamp)(4-1)

Round 6: Me(Gyarados) vs. Craig(Machamp)
-Game 1: He gets a terrible hand with machop active and relicanth benched. He goes first, attaches to machop and kicks. I go second and start to get set up but do not get a gyarados up so I pass. He can't do much at all and ends up attaching to relicanth and kicking. I get up gyarados and KO machop. He promotes relicanth and attaches and uses "amnesia". This is a brilliant play as he prevents he from using "Tail Revenge" the only attack gyarados uses. However, I use a warp energy, then retreat and knock out relicanth for the game. Yeah... gyarados donked machamp. (1-0)
(6-0)

-Game 2: He looks at his hand and chooses to go first as we believes it will benefit him as he cannot donk. He has a lone active machop. I end up exploding and get a gyarados with to magikarp in the discard via regimove and I donk a machop for the win! Yeah I donked machamp with gyarados.... TWICE! (2-0)
(7-0)

Round 7: Me(Gyardos) vs. Marc(DialgaChomp) He is Techmaster2kx on the gym!
-Game 1: He absolutely runs through me this game. An early deafen lock severely hinders my set up. When I do get set up, He systematically puts damage on gyarados and perfectly knocks it out with poison by using skuntank g and a stadium. I lose the gyarados and struggle to get it back with combee since my rescue energy was avoided. It is too little to late by the time a do get back up and running and he wins by sniping off the bench for final prizes. (0-1)
(7-1)

-Game 2: The tables completely turn and I explode getting an early gyarados with a belt and all 3 magikarp in the discard. I knock out both garchomp c in the first three turns and he struggles to get anything going. I win fairly handily in this match. (1-1)
(8-1)

-Game 3: Time is running short (about 10 minutes) and he are both playing quickly. I get another quick start and know that time will be called so I need to be aggressive and take prizes. I belt a gyarados with three magikarp in the discard. I abuse regimove and cyclone energy to take a three quick and cheap prizes. He makes a comeback and knocks out my gyarados with poison again! I am unable to get a gyarados back the next turn and he takes another cheap prize. We are now tied 3-3 on prizes and at this point we are in the three turns after time is called. i severely damage his dialga g on my turn. He is forced to poketurn it and promote a dialga g as a wall since I have almost no hand and no belt on gyarados nor crobat drops. I attack and put 90 damage on it. His next turn is turn three and he uses warp energy to get that dialga to the bench and promotes another to wall yet again. My next turn is sudden death. I have 2 regice on the field and 2 cards in hand. I attempt to use regimove and he sprays it. I attempt to use the second regimove and he has no spray! I am able to KO anything on his bench and the game it mine! (2-1)
(9-1) or (7-0)

I win my first city championship as this is the first season I am playing competitively. I get my medal and half a box and pull some RH trainers and one RH rescue energy as well as a machamp prime! I pull other primes and legends but I have plenty. Gyarados is making a comeback!
