Hello everyone, this is the first deck I have built in a long time so I am a little rusty. I have been doing some testing and tweaking with it but of course it is not perfect, so I am look for some feedback.

Pokemon: 10
3 Yveltal EX
2 Darkrai EX
2-2 Garbodor (LT-LT)
1 Baby Yveltal

T/S/S: 34
2 Ultra Ball
2 Pokemon Center Lady
3 Professor Sycamore
2 Professor's Letter
1 Shadow Circle
4 Shauna
4 Bianca
3 Muscle Band
4 Pokemon Catcher
2 Virbank City Gym
4 Hypnotoxic Laser
2 Float Stone
1 Life Dew

Energy: 16
12 Basic Dark
4 DCE

Strategy:

My Yveltal is my main attacker, although I have been stuck with Darkrai before and it did pretty well. The idea is just to charge up one of them quickly and get damage out there fast. I have noticed that I do not really need to stack a ton of energies on one of them to attack with high damage to get frequent knock outs, so I can usually get a second attacker prepared on my bench.

Darkrai is there mostly for his ability. The free retreat cost has been helpful to avoid knockouts.

The Garbodor is for guys like suicune and pyroar. That's it, so if I don't see one of those cards coming I do not use him so that it does not make my Darkrai useless.

I appreciate all feedback and suggestions, though I may not agree with all of them I will take them into mind. Thank you everyone.

Since mewtwo is just a watered down version of Yveltal, I would replace it with another 1-1 line of garbodor. Also I would keep your supporter line consistant and run 4 prof juniper, 4 N, 3 random receiver, 2 bike and a pal pad rather than running pokemon centre lady, pokemon fan club and bianca. Furthermore, since you will no longer run mewtwo, you don't really need psychic energies so you could replace them for another 2 DCE's, a third ultra ball, and 3 or 4 dark patch (depending if you run baby Yveltal or not). I would also consider running laser bank in here, preferably 4 Hypnotoxic laser and 2 virbank city, and replace these with the 4 copies of shuna and the 2 shadow circle you are currently running. I see your are not running an ace spec card and this is a missed opportunity since ace spec cards are really game breaking, the ideal one for this deck is dowsing machine but computer search is also pretty viable in many situations.

Additionally, running some not ex pokemon like boufallant, absol, Sableye or baby Yveltal would be ideal since greeting a KO one one of your opponents ex's gives you a great advantage since it will help you in the prize war. Baby Yveltal adds to energy acceleration and so allows the deck to cope with 1 less dark patch and Sableye is key for getting back reasorces. As to finding space for 1 or 2 copies of these, taking out the emolgas will probably be your best option since you can already search for pokemon easily via ultra ball. Finally with a 1-1 or 2-2 line of garbodor your going to need more than 3 tools, especially since muscle band works so well on Yveltal so I would consider adding in 2 or even 3 float stone just so up you can consistently block abilities if your opponent runs many megaphones/tool scrapper's.

Hope this helped :)

Quick question, I won't be able to really make any tournaments until the next rotation so I was trying to stay away from cards that may go out. I was guessing they would either do Plasma storm and on or LT and on. What do you think the rotation is going to be?

I reckon they'll probably rotate to boundaries crossed which will leave in the entire plasma series while also roting out 4 sets like last year.

That's what I figured, so I am making a couple changes right now. I will edit this post with the changes and the original post when I am done.

Here are some changes I have made:

-3 Mewtwo EX
-2 Emolga
-2 Pokemon Fan Club
-6 Psychic Energy

+1 Professor Sycamore
+2 Virbank City Gym
+2 Hypnotic Laser
+2 Float Stone
+3 Dark Energy
+2 DCE
+1 Yveltal EX

I too run a version of this deck and following are some thoughts for your consideration:

  • Why no Sableye (Junk Hunt)??? This Poké is one of the biggest reasons Dark decks have/has been so successful. Being able to Junk Hunt Item resources to reuse is amazing. I suggest you consider adding 2.
  • Why no Yveltal??? This is another Dark Poké that has good damage output for just D energy cost AND it also provides some energy attachment acceleration (which is critical since you are not running Dark Patch).
  • You have no non-EX attackers. So, if your disables your Garbodor (very easy to do with only a 1-1 line) and promotes a Safeguard Poké, your game-winning chances diminishes.
  • From my experience in running a variety of decks that incorporates Garbodor as a key component of my deck strategy (vs. a "simple" tech tactic), a 2-2 Garbodor line much more consistent (i.e., good chance I will be able to setup at least 1 on my bench early game).
I hope you find these comments helpful.

I completely agree with this except for the mewtwo bit. Mewtwo is able to be charged up in one turn with DCE.
That isnt something id want to just throw away personally

The reason I have not considered Sableye or Yveltal is because I have been able to consistently get a charged yveltal out and ready, so I feel like I have not needed the support. But I do agree that I need to bump up to a 2-2 Garbodor Line. I will look at that in a minute

I made these changes

- 1 Shadow Circle
- 1 Sacred Ash

+ 1-1 Garbodor
