Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Zekrom Error 114/114

The Zekrom you get might be determaned by if you get the packs with the code cards in them or not. Because I just saw 3 boxes with the codes opened and they all had the gray Zekrom, while every pre-release or tin/blister one I've seen pulled has been the black one.
For those that pulled one of the gray ones, were they from a pack with a code or without?

I have a black one from the PR and a gray one from one of the promo blister packs. Neither one was from a coded pack.

Didn't even notice until I saw this thread.

Ah- that. Yeah the scans don't do it justice. They both have the same kind of treatment on the background as the Alph Lithographs had.

The texturing on the gray one is finer and it does absorb more light than the larger texture on the black one though.

I think the one with the black background may be a reverse holo version as someone from another site claims to have gotten a different Reshiram from his/her box. Perhaps this is like the Red Gyarados from HGSS where there is a reverse holo as well.

I'm late to this party, but grey is the error (yes I know this has pointed out already)

Given it seems to be fairly common, I wouldn't say this is particularly rare. It might be that different printing companies handled the Zekrom very differently. Get decent quality control TPCi!

Or it could be like the Dialga G LV.X error which seemed common at first. Try to find one now...

Every one of these pulled at today's PR were black. All of the one's I've pulled (5 in all now) and those my friends and league members have pulled (another 15 or so) have been black. Hedging my bet, but I think the gray versions are going to be another here today, gone tomorrow event.

Sounds like I was right in holding onto my grey one and valuing it high! We had a discussion at league about this and I flat out said "I'm holding zekroms ad I don't know which one's the error, and it may hit thirty bucks". We'll have to see. :)

I got the one with the black background from normal packs from walmart, and the gray one in the box I bought that had the codes. Seems to be more common in the coded boxes maybe?

It's possible. I've heard of people getting it in the RH spot and some get it in the holo spot.

According to the Beach, the FH cards also have an RH variant. These look eerily similar to the scans posted on his page.

Yeah- I don't believe Beach and their article for 2 reasons.

1. If there were holo and reverse holo of each, it wouldn't be the first time secret rares had a reverse holo. The Crystal versions in Skyridge had reverse holo printing. This goes to show that whoever wrote the article doesn't know what they're talking about from the get go.

2. Both of the cards pictured in this thread were pulled from the "rare" position in the pack. I very much doubt the claim of the person who says one of their league members pulled both in the same pack.

I got the one with the black background from the Pre-release event. I pulled mine from a regular booster pack (without the online code). I have 3 others that have the grey background (all 3 came from packs with the online code).

im a selller of complete sets and a player and i opened 4 cases of boxes with the codes. every single box had 1 reshi and 1 zekrom and each zekrom was the grey one. at the pre-releases i noticed the boxes were the ones without the codes and were black zekroms

I just received and opened a "code" box. It had the error Zekrom. It also had the same type of error on the Reshiram as well as on the Pikachu (matt finish, fine texture vs. gloss finish larger texture). On the Pikachu it's in the art box on the background behind Pikachu. I tried making scans but with the lighter backgrounds it's impossible (for me at least) to see the difference.
